  • The german-turkish teenager Chero (16) lives the typical life of an immigrant kid in a small german working-class town. Instead of going to school he sells marihuana on the streets. His best friend Can (16) admires Chero's seemingly careless life and is fed up with going to school and delivering newspapers. Can wishes he could be just as free and independent as Chero but his attentive mother would never allow it. Chero on the other hand secretly envies Can for his intact family life, his good school grades and his chance for a better future. For Chero only lives with his father, who rarely has time to spend with his son between two low-income jobs. Chero doesn't see any other possibility for his life than a criminal career and it bothers him that Can wants to join him, especially because Can seems to take Chero's drug business for nothing but a game. However Chero finally gives in to Can's persistence and introduces him to his marihuana supplier. Just the next day the two friends find themselves running a dubious drug deal, which ultimately puts their friendship to a tough test - with fatal consequences.

    Directors Note
I've produced and directed a 40-minute Drama with social disadvantaged youngsters. I was inspired by the film "City of God". All of them were non actors and trained with me - I also functioned as there acting trainer - in a group for more then two years. Out of these acting lessons, there private stories and improvisations, we developed the script. It took me more then three years to finish the project. Teenagers were working in front of the camera as well as behind the camera. This project is really my heartfelt wish and I'm so proud of the youngsters. For me it is not only a great success that the movie was actually made - an even greater accomplishment is that we empowered young people to create a film, who otherwise would have never had this chance. I believe that they have a stronger, healthier self esteem now and feel more connected to their dreams. That is the biggest success I could have imagined - to give them the feeling of my personal motto "Everything is possible and live your dream!”.
