What if the European Union Became a Single Country?

- What if the EU, one of the largest and most influential international powers in the world, became a single country? Today, we're going to discuss some of the history of pan-Europeanism, as well as Euroskepticism and the driving factors behind them, and what it would look like if the EU finally took their commitment to the next level.
Do you think that a United States of Europe would ever work, and would it prolong the influence of Europe or hasten it's demise?

We´ll win almost every world cup. It´s gonna be great.
Or Olympics for that matter.
We’d be Dunking on everyone
Good one !! ;-)
The World Cup would actually be the hardest cup to win for national teams.
The competition in the European Cup is harder than the WC that includes Asian, African and North/Central American nations. Only the 2-5 occasional good teams from South America (Brazil and Argentina + Uruguay, Chile or Columbia if the last 3 are having a good generation) are adding to the competition.
Europe alone have Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, England and Portugal. Just now, the top 10 FIFA rankings nations include 2 non-European nations, and the top 20 includes 6 non-European nations. Also, the last 4 world cups have been won by European nations. But then again, UEFA adds 14 teams to the WC - almost 3 times the size of the other continental football associations (3-5 teams).
Even if EU united as one nation it most likely wouldn’t be the case. Just like in Olympics you have team GB, in FIFA World Cup you have England, Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland.
We'd just need a more original name than United States of Europe imo

7:39 As a Spaniard, that's something about USA that I will never understand: if you are from Portugal you are white since Portuguese are Europeans, but if you are from Spain you're not white because you share the same language with Latin Americas. We Spaniards are white in every single country of the world except the USA, that's quite weird.
Um yes we do understand that. We are generally the ones that point it out. Portuguese is also spoken in South America (the biggest country in South America speaks mostly Portuguese which is Brazil).
Its politics for power from census spending. Many Mexicians could be thought of as native Indian also. since they have indian ancestors.
@RFT um did you read what I said? I said MOSTLY. Mostly doesn't mean all 🤦♀️. Mostly means a greater part or number. I mean I wasnt great in math, but I think 99% is greater than 1%. I was to lazy to look up what the other language was 🤷♀️.

If we can over come the nationalism, and the diverse language. We would be a superpower. But it would take a few generations of courageous politicians
Nationalism was a creation. Perhaps supernationalism (for a continent-state) could do wonders. I recommend starting with a single EU media company that is broadcast to all member-states.
@@user-nf9xc7ww7m my name is ESC, hope you don't mind I also have some extra-union friends :)
Courageous politicians? Worldwide, there has been maybe 5 in the last 50 years . How about courageous citizens , you know like in a direct democracy?
@@tszirmay but courageous politicians have to promote that kind of political system first. And again, politicians will always exist. It's in the human nature, not everyone will be equally passionate or vocal or well informed or interested in the topics. Some people will always have influence on some others. The best we can do it try to regulate this better
@@sarantis1995 I see your handle is Greek (maybe , I hope so) but way back , way way back, Athens instituted a system of democracy that eliminated the "go between" and urged the voice of the people (vox populi in Latin) to be the deciding factor in a true and strong democracy . The reason why Switzerland is the only country with a form of direct-democracy is because elsewhere politicians do not want to be held accountable by the people . My representative does not know me and I barely know him/her, yet it vehiculates my social, economic and political wishes. I am sad to report that does not happen. So these same comfortable politicians become engrossed in their power and start manipulating processes. As an example , in the Netherlands the center-left wing Rutte government got rid of the referendum option (even though it is the purest from of democracy = the will of the people) by eliminating the law that gives this option legitimacy. In 2018 both the assembly and senate voted to repeal the referendum law. It should have been a people's referendum on abolishing referendums ! Aside of Jacinda Ahern in NZ , there is no current world leader that has any 'across the board' respect from its citizens. The best we can do is to follow the Swiss example, where the people decide and the government abides. I suggest you research this , hard to find fault with it, unless you plan to become a politician.

People from Spain (Europe) are white/Caucasians. People from South America can be any race. People in Spain and people in Southern America are two different things. They just speak the same language.
Oh feck off, spain has 500 years of islamic ruling in their blood, they're almost just as Caucasian as alot of south americans.
Ethnical labeling is almost impossible in most western countries, since mass immigration has been happening for at least 12000 years.
@@storrho no not really. On the south, the Andalusian are most cerntely effected by the north Africans. But at the same time you have to think of how most Muslims act. Example Basra, Kairo, Bagdad. The Muslim Arab population concentrated in large numbers in separated cities and at times would found new ones.
As well as the fact that the reqonquiesta lead people of germabic decent on pillgremage and of course, reconquest. The people that were conquered by the Muslims back then were of germanic descend as well as Iberian. The french are also a mix of celtic and germabic same as the British. So I don't see the problem hier.
Biologically speaking there are no races
@Imper 5 "Alan R. Templeton, Ph.D., professor of biology in Arts and Sciences at Washington University, has analyzed DNA from global human populations that reveal the patterns of human evolution over the past one million years. He shows that while there is plenty of genetic variation in humans, most of the variation is individual variation. While between-population variation exists, it is either too small, which is a quantitative variation, or it is not the right qualitative type of variation"~eurekalert.org
@@storrho Fun fact: Being under islamic control does not mean you are islamic. During the Conquest of the Iberian Peninsula (yep, "Reconquista" is just a lie, i can explain more about it if you want) people had three options:
Either flee to the north to the christian territory, stay and pay taxes (if you wanted to keep your religion, you had to pay, this would be later removed when the almohads and almoravids came, since they were more dogmatic) or convert (since no muslim can be owned as a slave, and thus he becomes somewhat of a vassal).
The genetic result of this is a mixing of genes, but its not that big of a deal as you present it. In the Americas, however, mixing was a bit more intense, with criollos, mulatos, zambos... and it was all encouraged by the government since we were all part of the Empire and subjects of the Crown
European Union, far to be perfect, with its many problems, is still the most ambitious and fascinating political, economic and social experiment of human history. It never happened before, in human history, that so many nations, so different one fron another, decided spontaneously to share some of their sovereignty to become a single community. It is far to be a federation (unfortunately), but still, if you think that our grandparents killed each others at our borders in the most bloody wars of history, and now we don't even know what means to cross those same borders. It's just amazing.
"It never happened before". Yes it did, Napoleon had the same idea, so did Kaiser Wilhelm and of course Hitler lol
Hans Gruber read better. I said "spontaneously". It happened through wars, indeed. But never without losing a single drop of blood.

'social experiment' Indeed that is what it is. But what gives anyone the right to conduct social experiments with various nations and it's people? You think this will stop war? And lol at 'spontaneously'. Nothing happens spontaneously in politics. It has all been planned for. This profits only the globalists, the people will lose more and more freedoms, just look around you.
C. With spontaneously I mean without wars. And yes, it is helping keeping peace. It was since roman empire europe hadn't such a long period of peace (at least inside eu borders). And I remind you that people voted for eu membership in most countries, and anyway voted for the politicians who choosed thia path. And again, vote for a European parliament. I don't think we are losing power. We are becoming something bigger.

A Swiss-style Democratic Federation is the best option for a United States of Europe. Giving the power to the people. Each Region/country would maintain their autonomy, while remaining United where they need to be United.
🙄
JacsRambles sounds like the US in a way for frick sake
No, more like the Swiss. It would be way better than the US. Power would truly go to the people. Because of their Semi-Direct Democracy, the Swiss can ward off the influence of business from Government and have a true free market at the same time. Issues like those in the US, like Private prisons or Universal background checks for gun buyers would be solved in day one.
JacsRambles Oh. yeah that would definitely make more sense for an United Europe instead of the United States Federation
Yes It would be beautiful!
I am a spanish/Italian living in France that was born, grew up and goes to school in Switzerland, don't talk to me about cultural differences, I got along just fine with all of them and I don't feel more Spanish than I feel Swiss or Italian. If a united Europe comes to be, I would actually prefer english to be the national language but every other languages would be learned in theire respective excountries (that I would consider as reagions).
@isle 99 But is an easy language only for neo-latin languages speakers
@@masterjunky863 its the simplest language in the world, grammatically so it's still better than any of the alternatives.
Maybe latin
Is it in lausanne?
Well said!! And it has antecedents. Italian became Italy's national language when only the aristocracy spoke it. It's not impossible and many Europeans already know English.
What it would piss me off, however, is a language like French becoming a co-official language they force you to learn if you want to work...is it necesary to impose other languages just because there are too many French nationalists?
Spaniards are white mediterranean, just as Italy or France! And hispanic are the mixture of white european people with amerindians. Hispanic include also indigens

Spaniards are White. Latinos/Hispanic people are various races and/or mixtures including White, Amerindian, Black, and some cases Asian as well. Cameron Diaz is Latina but she's still White.
I think this would be great. We will have a better ability to have a functioning border security and it will be easier to counter terrorism. Also, I believe that the economy would benefit greatly. And most of all, a united Europe would be able to keep up with China even in the future.

True. The western world being united gives us more power in relation to India or China, who rival each other.
USA has allied us the same way the soviet union "allied" poland. Long live the EU
The EU is a mutual trade agreement to promote stability and prevent another war breaking out. Honestly that's all it needs to be. I mean I wouldn't mind a big ol' European empire but we all know what happens to empires in the end.
Huschibaba: There is also a EU -Northafrica project ongoing since a long time, lots of people do not know about - Union for the Mediterranean! Imo this is also one reason for taking so much "refugees" to get closer ties to those countries. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_for_the_Mediterranean
Ouma Shu We are not the allies of the USA. We are a continent that can not come together and the Americans take andvantage of it to colonize us culturally, it's called soft power. But soon Europe will unite and it will be the end of NATO and the "American way of life" and you will have more than your eyes to cry. Like all empires, the American empire is going to collapse and it will be here that Europe can regain its greatness with China and India.

If the EU were run more or less like a very big Switzerland, I don't think many people would be opposed to it.
Yeah, well it won't. Because the people don't always vote in line with what the globalists want.
Today I learned that Switzerland is "globalist". The more you know.
+Vytautas Danielius
Today I learned you even have to explain the simplest of sentences to people. I was referring to the EU elite = globalists. They don't want a Switzerland type of system of referendums because that would interfere with their plans. If a vote doesn't fit them, they make you vote again until it is 'right'.
Some elites want it, others don't. There's no such thing as a unified hive-minded "elite" in one of the biggest and richest polities on the planet, there's a bunch of infighting factions.
Also, if at least some of the "elite" didn't like referendums, there wouldn't be any, in any nation in the world. Point is, you could convince some of the "European globalist elites" that enabling the European Parliament to call Pan-European referendums without the consent of the national governments would at the same time be
a) A safe option for them; many countries already have referendums without toppling the ruling class, so it's nothing that hasn't been done before
b) A way to legitimize the pan-European government. Can't go around calling the EP a "rubber stamp dispenser" if it can call referendums
c) A way to pass legislation most Europeans are in favour of (like an EU army), even if 1 or 2 governments oppose it.
Once the EP can call referendums, it probably won't just start calling them for things the European people really want them to. However, much like UKIP pushed the Tories to hold, organize and acknowledge a referendum they did not want to, the EP can also be pushed to do referendums it doesn't want to do. Thus finally giving the people of Europe a direct say in how the continent will be run. Obviously there won't be as much direct democracy as in Switzerland, but it's a major improvement.
P.S.: When I said "run like Switzerland", I mean the fact that it's a multiethnic (but more or less monoracial) confederation that has successfully devolved the functions best solved at the local level to it's constituent cantons ( the cantons are responsible for healthcare, welfare, law enforcement and public education; they also retain the power of taxation), and has successfully federalized the functions of government where large size, a large amount of funds and standardization are needed (like a single army, a single currency, a single regulatory union, federally funded science etc.) The federal Swiss government also doesn't need to have the permission of every single canton in order to protect the rule of law or take quick necessary decisions in times of crisis, and is also directly accountable to the Swiss, not only the canton governments themselves.
Europe also needs to learn from the Swiss that the only road to prosperity are more free market-based solutions, more individualism and a smaller government. We all talk about how "well" Sweden is doing, but in many cases, the Swiss are more prosperous, safe and free.
I love the idea of the EU, I just hate how its run.

I hate the idea, and how it's run.
There should never be centralized power like this. It would destroy the cultures in Europe, and essentially turn Europe into America.
The EU doesn't need to be centralized, that's one of the biggest points critics are bringing up, the centralization of the union

CrimsonTomato the comment section is not a playground or sports court. It will not be fun.
lol. I haven't watched the video yet, but it would be an absolute nightmare. There would be civil war, people would lose their freedoms, and eventually the EU would split up into lots of smaller nations (based around the ethnic groups). That's what usually happens anyway.
Since it's not about Africa it should be pretty tame.......

Maybe because power and money is not equal to population. Germany alone has a higher BIP than the whole African Continent together.
Cultures and Opinions are extremely different in the EU and the European Government is absolutely shit. The way it is organized is mostly just not good. What makes the EU so great is it's trade and economy. The Populations of China, India, Brazil, Russia are very homogenus compared to the one of the EU. Also history is important. Some of this countries are enemies or dislike each other. Not even the form of Government is completely the same. There are Democracies, Republics, Federations, parlamentarial Monarchies, etc.

Turkey entering the EU and Nato is important to block russian access to the mediteranean. and baltic states and denmark, well to block the baltic sea. And Japan and South korea to trap Vlasivostok etc. The Americans still havent gone out of their cold war logic. This is why Russia wont or should I say must not enter. When was the last time a possible russian entry in the EU was mentioned in the news ? thats right... and it will never be mentioned.
You should read the book the Grand Chessboard by Zbigniew Brzezinski, he was the councelor of the president Jimmy Carter, and explains the American foreign policy, and how the US use their assets to try to dominate Eurasia. dividing it in several chessboards, one of which is Europe. Reading actual books will get you further that UA-cam if you mant my opinion.
About the german invasion... did you even read to the end ? I was saying that French economical state has never been so bad since 1945. Wasnt the union supposed to bring prosperity ? well whatever. Damn these muslims are so damn scary haha! do not get me wrong I am opposed to multiculturalism. As long as you adopt french culture and ideals, your religion will not matter much. 6 million or 66. Atheism is growing even faster so I am not too worried. All these muslims wont believe in hallah before they know it. I am for republican universalism that we inherited from the Revolution, with a single central french culture. There you go.
last time I went to the world bank webside was err today. but GDP isnt the only indicator of a country's well being. by only watching this you are fooling yourself. in France there is 6 million unemployed and almost a million more every five years, 500 households get Under the poverty line everyday. our national debt is enourmous, and our factories are leaving because of direct concurrence with other countries of the EU and far east asia. the source of it is in the TFEU by the way:
Article 63. 1. "Within the framework of the provisions set out in this Chapter, all restrictions on the movement of capital between Member States and between Member States and third countries shall be prohibited."
.many muslim are french nationalists. so this prooves that. One is not opposed to the other. the problem today comes from the fact that Under american influence we adopted their muticultural model. But their's is not the best model out there is it ? mass shootings an so on and so forth. so we need our old universal model. religious beliefs at home, political beliefs in the assebly. that is all.
ok i will go back on the sacred TFEU : article 42
"The policy of the Union in accordance with this Section shall not prejudice the specific character of the security and defence policy of certain Member States and shall respect the obligations of certain Member States, which see their common defence realised in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), under the North Atlantic Treaty and be compatible with the common security and defence policy established within that framework. "
this is clear enough proof ? this is the treaty on the functioning EU. ok ?
the EU and NATO are two sides of the same coin.
No one gives a shit about my country huh? thats a pretty empty and rude statement. It might be so. even so I do not care. UN permanent seat, nuclear weapons, France spoken on each continent every day. we are not naked. we have a country full of space and potential. We could easily sustain double our population, maybe even treble. You can give up if you want. three years ago I was tempted by the Eu solution. now it disgusts me. Thats not a solution, its a surender of someone who does not believe in his country. Dont know where you are from. but look at Singapore, do they look like they need to fuse with 27 neigbours ? why are France and Germany so small when such microscopic countries thrive ? it is true that they are one a major trade route but still. Is their population sad ? are they on the verge of war ? no. who needs to be a super empire anyways ? If losing France is the price to pay to create one, then the loss outweights the benefits, its a
dealbreaker.

A strong, democratic, egalitarian federalised Europe is necessary in our modern day and age. The time of warring, disparate nation-states and past empires is long-gone. Especially now in the face of Russia's war against Ukraine. If done right, we can only become stronger, richer (both culturally and financially) and more influential on the world stage if we federalised.
And, yes, Ukraine should and will become a part of the EU.
AVE EUROPA
Not Europe.
Turkey has no place in the EU they hold no cultural similarities, the threat of Turkey joining the EU did play a part in the UK leaving and UK citizens didn’t like that the EU kept inviting economic and culturally backwards nations to join.
Turkey was not going to join the union but project fear from euroskeptics convinced gullible idiots that it was going to be the case. I have looked at Turkey's application is details, more than a dozen chapters (criteria to join) are not met and a few of them are indefinitely suspended. Not exactly the sign of a country about to join.
Oh and those same euroskeptics are now lobbying for Turkey to enter the EU as the UK is leaving.
You've been lied to... again.

@John Beimheim the fact that UK controlled a territory it doesn't mean at all to absorb part of culture or something else. What if the Nordic countries Became a Single Country?
I might approve if the terms were fair :)
History's a little fuzzy, but wasn't that the Kalmar Union?
Yup, there was a Kalmar Union, but it came apart from rivalry between Denmark and Sweden. Sweden today has almost double the population of other Scandinavian countries, so it would perhaps disproportionally dominate, although Norway's oil wealth and Denmark's overall stability might make for some balance. Norway has only been fully independent since 1905 and Iceland since WW2, so I kind of think they would be reluctant to go back to a union with others, especially Norway which wanted independence for a long time under both Denmark and Sweden. On the one hand, Finland would prefer independence, but Finland was once part of the Russian Empire and a benefit of being part of a Union might deter possible Russia aggression. Estonia has similarities to Finland and Latvia is Lutheran from the influence of the Swedish empire days, perhaps these two countries would also be candidates to be part of a Scandinavian Union?
Sweden should just capitulate to Norway same people but your leaders have been eating saltwater in their serial crazy as fuck
There is a Nordic Council, which is cooperation between the Nordic countries. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_Council
I think the Nordic countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) as minors in the union) would have it better today if they had gotten together in a Nordic Union.
I believe there were talks of a Nordic Union a couple of decades ago, but of what I understand it was shut down by politics and (partly corrupt) politicians.
When I say corrupt, I don't mean under-the-table-cash corrupt, but more in line with an example like when Denmark's politicians wanted the Euro (€). They couldn't just make the change without upsetting the population, so they put it to a national vote, and the people voted "No". Then the politicians just went ahead and tied the currency rate to the Euro, so that it always stays the same, that way they didn't really have to have the euro, but still sort of got it, what you could call pseudo-euro.
Also the Kalmar Union was hundreds of years ago and was more about monarchies and bloodlines trying to say that they "own" these countries.
The United Kingdom is a Union. Wales with England since 1500's, Scotland since 1707, Ireland since 1801 (though only Northern Ireland since partition in the 1920s. We have a common currency even though the economies of the various regions are very diverse. And we have income transfers from richer to poorer areas just as the EU does. We have language and cultural differences too and Welsh is far from dead despite union with England for 800 years. Discrimination based on birth place, language, etc. is totally forbidden as it is in the EU. You didn't need a passport or a visa to travel from N Ireland to England or from Scotland to England, even before we joined the EU. We don't like barriers to trade. All of which makes it weird to think that the 17 million people (out of 56 million population) voted to put up barriers to free movement and trade. It just shows how much years and years of false reporting by the Mail, Express, Sun etc. have succeeded in turning Brits into thinking the EU is a bad idea.
"All of which makes it weird to think that the 17 million people"
I think It's easy to just say that. But, have you lived in the country as they have? Have you experienced communities changing rapidly, forcible changes in culture, the feeling of isolation instead of integration? These have been concerns for many of the citizens, who have lived in the country for generations.
Craig Brexit Yes. I am British and lived in the UK for 50 years. I am now in my 60s. I was born at a time when there was virtually no immigration from the Commonwealth. Immigration enriches a country. Greatly.
Then you will have a far better understanding than me, due to living through it longer. I think like most of your generation, the then ECC was seen as a positive step in the right direction for the country at the time.
Craig Brexit 40 years ago, an exotic meal was a do-it-yourself Chow Mein sold in a box which frankly was disgusting and about as authentic as the ten quid Rolex bought from a man in a pub. Nowadays our food culture is hugely varied and very high quality. It would never have happened if we had remained a mono culture. I now live in Finland which is where the UK was 30 or 40 years ago but is rapidly catching up. Having fun educating the Finns, most of who are internationalists but a tiny minority (about 8 %) are hardcore mono culturalists.
Immigration needs to be controlled so only the benefits of it are felt and not the problems
I'd really like a European state but it'd have to be under a strong EU parliament - not the council and not a president.

@@paocut9018 Back then military was the what made up the strength of a nation. Today it's economy (good example for that is North Korea). @@paocut9018 The interesting part is that the "official" unification of Germany was nothing more than the South German states joining the North German Confederation, which was to be renamed to "German Empire" (at least on paper). Something similar could happen to the EU. Just a small change on paper and the EU would be a unified country. Just like what happened to the North German Confederation.
your map is wrong... Crimea is part of Russia, not Ukraine now
He got a lot of stuff wrong. Like the GDP of China and the eu.
Crimean annexation isn't officially accepted by any one. Basically conquering land doesn't defacto get you acknowledged as the rightful ruler of a territory any more. One of the reasons various other issues around the world continue rather then just rest in the grave.
Like for instance Tibet, Palestinian territories held by Israel, West Morocco.
Crimea is just another one in this list, border changes that weren't accepted by the rest of the world and have at times become something that has hindered them in certain ventures from time to time. You could consider it a penalty on conquest to discourage countries from doing it to much. And hey, if that actually does help decrease war a bit, that would be good.

Bad idea
Excellent video. Very well narrated. Very impressed. 10/10
Very interesting video which is very describtive too. There are many factors for the existence of the EU, some were mentioned in the video, others I have in mind and there are also perspectives which someone else must see that we don't. All EU countries have low birth rate, high death rate and aging population which is another reason for which the union protects so heavily the movement of people. As every country is a system based on calculations and is run similarly to businesses, it is understandable why the choices are 'innovate or die'. Therefore, in order for the systems (countries) to function properly, countries (usually wealthy ones) take human resources / human capital from other member states which brings value to the industries that require labour and support economic (GDP) growth. It of course destroys additionally the other ones which have no other choice but to accept migrants or stay stucked. The division of mentality between Western Europe and Eastern Europe is high as values and understanding differ. Western societies are more liberal whereas eastern are more conservative. This affects the whole vision and lifestyle, therefore rights and freedoms. An example of division is including the refusal to take african & middle eastern migrants from the waves coming to Europe throughout the last years. The institutions are ineffective to control the societies view as they themselves are unwilling to do so. Otherwise they would have adapted western view and approaches long time ago. However, despite the necessity for young human resources and refusal to take external migrants out of Europe, even Eastern European countries recognize the need for labour. Hungary, the Czech Republic, have taken smaller amounts of other eastern europeans with similar languages, mentality, values, taste to food etc which could integrate more easily. Poland has taken more than 1 million ukrainian refugees since the war there. The diversification of Europe is in a stage which is happening whether the people want it or not as it is a need and processes are unspoken. Another thing is that the Europeans in general are highly influenced by the american culture. Movies, songs, animations, computer games and programs, trips to other countries have all stimulated or stimulate the adaptation to speaking english as a norm. Most if not all european children study english from whether from first grade or high school and yet have been influenced by the above factors. Anywhere we go across Europe, my friends and I get on with english which is an example, as we can find english speakers easily especially within the younger generations. The integration process takes time and is happening whether people like it or not. Personally I think that it is a good thing as it unites people more rather than divide. Plus we live in a world of class based societies with rich, middle class, working class. The intelligence or highly educated, or people with thought of opportunities educate their kids to speak languages as they may or tend to be business oriented. Any skill or knowledge would be an advantage. Those who do not teach their kids languages or educate them prevent them from opportunities and wealth. (Which of course leaves many with thought that the creation of a kid is just as because they have to as it's a norm.) The whole EU project in my opinion is good as it brings unification and comprises intelligence allowing advancement of human capital as it reinforces powers. What I do not like is potentially dangerous influential & political environment that requires and threatens the peace worldwide and towards which EU states respond with collective defence / military mechanism which may increase the tension and form regional world military powers. Without the EU however, small Denmark, Sweden, France, Spain etc will have small to no political heaviness for future to influence growing China, India, Brasil, Russia in a time when the US takes a step back. The EU superstate is inevitable if Europe wants to survive as it follows principle 'innovate or die', which is how it is in my opinion.
El futuro de Europa 🇪🇺💪

I would like it, but the way I see it. It's basically the current EU but just with more influence for the EU and less influence from the individual countries.
As a British citizen, I was proper pissed off when we voted to leave the EU. I love what it stands for, uniting people, letting people have freedom of movement between European countries, brining peace to the continent and making Europe’s voice bigger. Leaving it is just weird. #StopBrexit
Look at the Soviet Union, then you know what Europe would look like!
God save us all if the EU got control of an army!
Soviet union ended 25.12. 1991.
There are so many languages... nobody wants to change their native language
Joku Randomi we wouldn’t have to :)
They are many languages in India too.
In the US there are significantly more languages and nations, but this does not prevent them from having a unified state. Why could this prevent us? After all, English has long become international all over the world and it does not depend on whether or not the EU will become a united country
Everybody Speaks english,in italy we used more than 20 different languages with different origins for years and some people keep speaking dialect
lucius1976 in India though most people are multilingual and languages from urdu to bengali are closely related. Also hindi and english domainates India as the lingua franca unlike europe where it depends upon the region
What is appropriate for these moments is that the European Union is a single country with the 27 member states as constituent nations such as the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) or as autonomous nations with status similar to the Kingdom of the Netherlands ( Netherlands, Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten) and the Kingdom of Denmark (Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands), that the European Union is in charge of the external security of its member countries and international relations.
you implied that Macron is left wing which is not true.
Yup, he's a centrist that leans to the right on economical issues.
What? Of course he is left, as most of europe's leaders are. Only some eastern countries of the union have right-wing leaders
Maurice B. He's socially left wing, that's what he meant probably
The definition of "left" is completly different in usa and UE. It's not the same thing.

Europe is my city
Country first, then Europolis. Can you imagine 27 different mayors trying to run that city? That and have to go to Russia for farms. 😋
I would love it! As a Finn, we in the Nordic countries have enjoyed this freedom since 1956 we can still up
in the North walk, drive or ski between borders with out any ID card. Who wants to be there.
Isn't this what Hitler wanted? I think this is one of the fears in the UK. WWII may have ended 75 years ago, but it's all still a bit too raw for many people in the UK, me included. I watched another YT video earlier today, where some young Dutch people in their early twenties, were being interviewed about Brexit. They said there would never be a Nexit, as they were only a small country and need the EU. They then happily commented that they felt like The Netherlands was a province of Germany. I am still almost speechless!
Man I wish my country was a province of a federated EU... But I do of course realize that a project of this magnitude is always going to take a long time to come to fruition.
The United European Union sounds good XDXDXDXD
Puuro 😂😂😂 UEU sounds like an ambulance
United European Unitary unionised Union (UEU³)

European federation now!
Welp time to get the accordion
The countries are DIFFERENT!!!
Can you understand Greek?
Can you understand Polish?
Can you understand French?
Can you understand these two? Finnish and Hungarian?
If not then throw this idea of a ''United and Nation-Eating States of Europe'' in the trash like it should have been long time ago.
@@soifon7000 Ever heard of a lingua franca? Indonesia and India are good examples of lingua francas that work. By the way, most EU countries already have a lingua franca, the one you typed in and the one most of the people in this comment section (who are presumably European) have typed in.
I don't want anything to do with you, thanks.
@@acetylcoa6540 why not?
Well... I'm technically protestant, but you aren't gonna see me in a church, ever
Same here, I'm Catholic but been in more syangouges in my life 😂
Love your vid(s) but just wanted to comment that at 10:39, Equatorial Guinea and Uruguay are shaded purple to indicate Portuguese influence when both of these countries were at one point colonies of Spain and, therefore, should be colored the same lighter green like the Philippines, Ecuador, Cuba, Guatemala, etc. to match their Spanish influence.
The music's too loud, such a rookie mistake mate, please consider reuploading
I love Europe, hate the EU.
I understand you
I love the United States of America but i hate the USA
🇪🇺 is love, only love
Why doesn’t people want to see the bigger picture, the human race can’t be divided forever. When it comes to it, the large nations will be the only ones who has a say in things. If Europe stays divided we will just be steamrolled
I’m from the UK and I would 100% support a United Europe! Although it might not look like it from a non-uk citizen’s perspective, I believe that the UK population does not want to leave anymore. If we were allowed to vote again, the result in my opinion would be completely different than June 2016. Go Europe, I support you! 🇪🇺🇬🇧❤️
Well. It's not comparable to the USA at all. In Europe the regional cultural and lingual differences are much bigger and have always been. That's why it would be harder to unite
Looks at India
@@lightr2187 India was largely united, because the British forced them to unify in the British Raj.
@@travisoliver6741 it's still similar to EU uniting Europe
Go go EU. Hopefully one day we become a true federation.
That is my dream
@Joker I do not necessarily agree with your opinion but I respect it
Hoping is not enough. We have to work for it. If we work hard enough this dream might become true in our life time.
I think the main problems will be about languages, and you'll need to adopt the usage of your own language with a one to decide (possibly with a latin alphabet and not english)just like Esperanto tried before
