You can infinitely stall offstage with TNT, if you place a block and place tnt above it and then mine the TNT. If you’re on FD/BF/SBF, you’re going to regain blocks so you can stall even longer, and if you’re on any other stage, it’s free iron/diamonds. Not only this, but if the enemy ever tries to approach you, you can down-smash and air-dodge the TNT, which can hit below you so most characters will have a hard time approaching you while you stall for diamonds and resources offstage.
Feel like projectile users could easily harass you. Like you'd never want to do this against Samus cuz she can just shoot charge shots at you that will kill you and blow up the tnt at the same time
@@FormThisWay well he did say INFINITELY stall off stage and the block you might put up at the side of the stage will break eventually in its own or even sooner if your opponent attacks it
I have a tnt strat I use a lot. When you grab, it drags the opponent towards you on the ground, so at high percents I’ll place a tnt at ledge, drag it out at roll distance and grab based on reaction causing the opponent to step on the pressure plate and get hit by the tnt
You can jab tnt across the stage before it explodes. Depending on the sword, you can chase others with it and if it explodes the worst that can happen is that it catches both of you. Its so funny when someone is aggressive and I stop them by approaching with the tnt.
About the setup that Salem was showing with hitting TNT off the edge with a jab, that CAN be useful against Fox or other fire recoveries, as a staled Fox recovery will just barely not blow it up, but an iron or diamond jab can maybe do just enough damage to make up for what would be left for the explosion on that as well as being a faster option in that scenario.
Thereis no way a fire fox will be stale during a match. Unless you try to hit him during the move and trade or get hit. But why would you do that as Steve 🤣
M2k something that I was playing with for platform pressure but that I think could be adapted to ledgetrapping is the fact that the TNT is shorter than a regular block and that regular blocks can be placed on top of the TNT. So for instance you could do the down smash on TNT setup but a variant where you place a block so that the TNT is inside of it right as your opponent grabs ledge so you could do something like downsmash into second downsmash into explosion or downtilt right as the block is about to break into dsmash explosion, so that the lag cancels which would cover neutral stand and jump and also combo into the dsmash and explosion if it hits. Maybe not as good as the original setup but still a mixup to consider
your videos are hands down the most easily digestible and in depth look into steve that i have been able to come across. thank you for your hard work boys :)
A good set up is making a platform of blocks and setting a TNT on top of one of the blocks at roll distance. If you time it right you can up smash the enemy into the TNT ..and it kills at 100
If you place a TNT on a block, you can do the D-Smash -> Airdodge setup on TNT and you can escape with no lag. The airdodge gets cancelled on the block you place the TNT on so you can use it as a strong camping tool anywhere. Since you can mine on the TNT and if your opponent wants to approach they have to deal with D-Smash and TNT as well as anything you want to do immediately after.
A week late, but at 21:30, the d-tilt didn't explode the tnt because stale moves were turned off. A fresh and non stale d-tilt explodes the tnt, even when falling off the stage. The d-tilt has to be slightly stale for this setup to work as shown in the video. But hitting Steve's blocks can stale out moves. So if you have a fresh d-tilt, you can hit a block with it first, and then proceed with the setup shown.
I think you can use elytra as a movement option on stage, it opens a bunch of follow up and is interesting pressure. You can auto cancel on plateforms edges. Jump instant elytra to cross shield, auto cancel on ledges or auto grab the ledge depending on the setup. Also, the little hover from the TNT makes it so it's possible to jump on battlefield plateforms without using your double jump, you can mix up landing on the plateform with the TNT or place a TNT on the plateform and landing below. This character skill ceiling is gonna be wack.
@@sigurdtheblue At mid/high %You can mid stage forward smash/down smash > jump instant elytra cancel at ledge to pressure and catch their jump coming back with a side B. It's nuts.
So you can go offstage, place block, plant tnt, then mine tnt, while camping offstage. Though if they fid the interaction, it'll likely be making TnT (and anything else) making blocks degrade faster.
