to simplify the lore down to the the very main events; ateez from dimension A arent actual pirates - they were just a bunch of friends who parted ways due to a fight and while hongjoong was alone and reminiscing his time with his friends a guy who looked like him but wearing all black and fedora hat came to him in his dream and gave him an hourglass, when he woke up the hourglass was still there and hongjoong turned it upside down. This brought all of ateez together once again and they transported into another world, dimension Z. In an unfortunate series of events they learn that the city strictland is under extreme supervision where art and expression of all forms is banned and everyone must study the most of their lengthened life span to control their emotions. This is challenged by resistance fighters known as the black pirates and often known as halateez by fans, who are more or less ateez but from dimension Z. They learn that currently they've veen locked away and decide to step up as halateez to fight against the strictland government. In guerilla we saw how they infiltrated with speakers to play loud music and displayed famous artworks, in bouncy they took it up a notch and freed the kids who had been convinced to give up their emotions while studying for a perfect life in prestige academy and in crazy form, they try to infiltrate the government (with the help of another group of rebels called "thunder") as you can see, jongho playing cards with the officials, we have hongjoong and yeosang (spreading the message of being free on the walls) wrecking havoc, san and seonghwa performing underground (because it should awake emotion in the inhabitants of strictland), mingi breaking into places, and the wooyoung and yunho unit figuring out technology that would take the world over with their moto of freedom. I've left out events that weren't so important in the progression of the storyline but I definitely recommend that you watch the mvs in their chronological order!! I'm sure you'll enjoy them
