What I love about the EFCA is that what commonly divides other churches doesn't in the EFCA. Believers baptism? Infant baptism? Both are welcome in the church. Grow in your faith and appreciate the fact that you ARE baptized. Memorialism? Real presence? Come, prepare yourself. Then take and receive what you will. Meet the Lord at the supper that He instituted for our benefit. It's as if this denomination actually takes seriously the commands of Christ to be united. It's a breath of fresh air to me who comes from more a strict tradition.

@PatriotParadigmhe admires not dividing over tertiary and some secondary issues. you may have a different theological conviction about what these are and think they are “false” but it doesnt aeparate those from being orthodox christians. Also Christ explicitly prayed for unity within the church which EFCA does well

I've been a member of an Evangelical Free church for 25 years. We do not allow those who are unsaved to participate in communion. Salvation is a requirement for communion. Baptism is by immersion, but left up to the individual as to when they want to be baptized. I grew up Baptist and the only difference that I've been able to see between our church and Baptist is that concerning membership. Baptism is not a requirement for membership. As far as cessationism, the stance is "open, but cautious." We are led by a team of elders with a Senior Pastor. Board brings issues to the congregation who then votes on it.

As a member of an EFCC church, (E-free Church of Canada) and as a past member of a Baptist church I can say with some assurance that the differences are minimal. Of course this depends on the local EFC congregation. Many are now quite liberal here in Canada and most are very contemporary in style. The church I'm a part of is the exception to the rule and is very conservative in theology and style, even compared our local Baptist church. E-free is about as independent as one can get without actually being an independent church which is both good and bad imo. The one problem I see within the EFCC is that it is very hard to work with other local EFCC congregations on things like outreach or pooling resources or programing because of the differences in style and direction. Further, the disagree but not divide view is fine until there needs to be open and frank discussion and then often people are too timid to open up without first being told its ok to do so. Moreover, because the local church calls the pastor, a church can end up with a pastor who can change his theology over time without any over sight from higher leadership. By the time the congregation is ready to call the pastor to account its often either too late or its too timid of an approach and it can lead to to a church in chaos. Yet even with all of that it is very nice to have differing views within a congregation on things like end times or baptism and not just be in an echo chamber.

    • @cat-bg3rv
      @cat-bg3rv 5 місяців тому

Personally, I am concerned with the idea that we can agree to disagree due to exactly what you stated above. I would rather land on a congregation that is more like-minded. An Echo chamber example can be very good as long as it is secure in the Truth and led by the Holy Spirit. Also, silence can lead to confusion in the church.

IFB do not adopt forms of Christian feminism (egalitarian ) but EFCA does. EFCA would say that the verbs, teach and authority, in 1Ti 2:12 mean ordination not actions. 1Ti 2:12 does not mention anything about the laying on of hands or being set apart. Evangelical Free Churches would generally be more Grace focused, warm hearted and nowhere near as shallowly legalistic or controlling as IFB churches. The 'man of God' concept of single pastoral rule that prevails in IFB circles as well as being unScriptural creates a rife climate for cultic personality veneration and all manner of abuse. The IFB has been long blighted by this.

I was faithful in Soulwinning, conferences, VBS, etc. Some may say "not all are the same because they are independent." I beg to differ. My family and I have left and are now "recovering" from the mental and legalistic influences. I would ask that all research outside of what the IFB teaches. Over 2 years of studying and researching while serving and fully invested in the IFB. I was "sold out," but sadly my view was skewed from the pulpit. Read the bible without the IFB glasses and research non-biased/non-ifb history and you'll see that much of the IFB foundation are the same and riddled with a messy history of contradictions and hypocrisy. To each their own, but I urge everyone to study the Bible on their own without the skewed influence of the "Man of God" behind the pulpit. Galatians 5

Very good job on the video. I shows how mixed up the churches are, it is a ball of confusion. I believe in the inerrancy of scripture but how can the denominations be all over the place in their theology? Some body is in error because the errror is not the bible. The bible is inerrant.
What they have in common is what is causing the disagreeing doctrines.
Food for thought related to this, you figure it out for yourself.
1 If the church started at the cross then why are the 12 wanting to know when the Kingdom will be restored to Israel? The kingdom is not the church it is Jerusalem and the King of kings sitting on the throne of David.
2 Peter in Act 10 [28] And he said unto them (the gentiles at the house of Cornelius), Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. IF it is true that Peter preached to gentiles ( they get this from Acts 2:5) why did he tell the gentiles at Cornelius's that it was unlawful for him to associate with gentiles?
3 Why did it take God putting Peter in a trance giving him 3 visions before he would consider going to Cornelius?
4 If Peter was preaching the gospel to all people why would the people that Peter preached to then do this in Acts.11
[19] Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.?
Part of the problem is the Protestants believe the same thing that the Catholics believe in error.
Jesus says in Acts 1 [7] And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
[8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Why is Peter or his converts not preaching to men of all nations and making disciples of them like Jesus instructed?
    Matthew 28:19
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, OR as Acts 8 says go to the uttermost part of the earth?
Times and seasons Acts 1:7 Does it look like the Christian church or is this the Jews under OT law?
Perhaps if you start on the wrong premise you will build the church wrong and the churches never agree completely on their big doctrines.

This is principally about relation with the world. We're called to put Him and his teachings above what the world thinks. He is not calling for division within the Church. Jesus Himself and especially Paul mention many times the importance of the church being a united front against the world. An example (direct Jesus speaking): ‭“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me."(John 17:20-23 NKJV)
From Paul(who in many of his writings talks about how important it is to be united in thought and action):
"‭I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."(Ephesians 4:1-6 NJKV)
It is also important to note that they agreed on the big things but the apostles didn't all agree on the minor things. A perfect example is when Paul and Peter disagreed on whether Gentiles had to follow the old Law in Galations 2:11-21. By Paul calling Peter out in love on him essentially saying that by requiring Gentiles to follow the Old Law, he was saying that Jesus's death was meaningless, Peter changed his opinion. That's just as big a disagreement as any of our own today, maybe more so since its implications undermined the most fundamental principles of the faith, yet they didn't separate because they both agreed on the fundamentals. We're called to do the same, to converse about these issues but not to separate on them.
