I cant make it through out the whole song without tears running down my face. This song reminds me of my late grandfather who passed away in 2002 from cancer. I made him a promise to do something with my life. I did just that 2 years of Fire fighter Academy graduated cadet liuetenant and now Im a volunteer fire fighter working my way up the ladder. Hope I made him proud!!
This was played at my grandmother's funeral. She had a huge part in my town's fire department, my dad's a firefighter. I'm so proud. I miss you Nana, everyday.
This is dedicated to my dad who is a firefighter. Everytime he goes out I pray at least 100 times till he get's back.... Also to my grandpa... who have level 4 lung cancer, He is a strong hard working man but, to see him hooked up to a breather, weak... is hard. He'll be in Heaven soon. Love you Papa John and Dad!
My dad used to watch Ladder 49 all the time just to hear this song, I remember how annoying it would be when I'd go into his room to talk to him and that was all he would ever have on the tv. I'd give anything for it to be like that again. I love and miss you soo much Dad, its been over two years and I can't stop thinking about you. I hope you're happy where you are now.
Today's the 4th year anniversary of my grandmother dying. My dad's a firefighter and she was a volunteer ladies aux and helped out for more than 30 years. They had her funeral in my town's firehall and they played this song as they were taking her casket out. Gone but never forgotten this is always a hard day. Love you Nana, hope you're smiling up there with papa
I've always loved this song but after yesterday it has a whole new meaning. This was played at my friend , Tad Martin's funeral. One of the best firefighters I know he loved what he did and he will never be forgotten. Love you Tad! RIP 7/16/1990-6/16/2013
My dad is a firefighter. He is my hero. I couldn’t imagine losing him. My dearest condolences to all the families who has been through death of a man/woman during service. God bless you.
this song always makes me think of all the firefighters that went to dance with the devil, and never got back out. although they were taken in the devil's house, s/he is now in the hands of God. and we all need to remember that whenever we go out on a call, it might be our last, so we need to live our life to the fullest. give our loved ones that last kiss goodbye, or tell them we love them one time more. i know i do.
I have friends who are volunteer firefighters. I was nearly brought to tears by this song, because... When you have friends you care about working dangerous jobs like that, you express concern for their safety.
This is such a touching song, for not just firefighters, but all men and women who do anything to risk their lives for the greater good, for helping others or keeping them safe. Im happy to say im one whose doing some good, In the U.S. Army and praying myself, and all others who risk it all stay safe and stay strong. Hooah. God bless all.
For our legend and special one and only Angel in Heaven, Cole Anthony Wickham. Love and miss you more and more as the days go by. No one knows or sees me cry! Thank you to our sister, Chez Hillcoat for sharing such an appropriate song for the love of all our lives in Heaven. Our love for our handsome 18 year old handsome talented Angel will live on forever until we meet again. So very heart broken, Nana and all your loved ones too numerous to mention. I discovered this song from Ladder 49. It's in the ending where they carry Jack's casket out to the fire truck. Beautiful song. I cry every time I watch it. This song also makes me think of 9/11. Gone but not forgotten.
the movie ladder 49 connects with this song very well and I could never watch it without crying and I could never put into words how much I love it and how its my favourite movie. Its been my favourite movie since I was 4 and will be until the day I die. RIP to all firefighters who have passed away and to everyone else

MattaMatics101 I feel your pain. About a year and a half ago my volunteer department lost one of our members suddenly. He was a great man and an excellent firefighter, and he was a good friend. He wasn't lost in the line of duty, but passed away suddenly in his sleep. He was only in his mid-40's

Beautiful. When I'm called to duty god
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age
Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late

to put the fire out
