If you like New Order, you’ll want to hear: Italo disco In the wake of Curtis’s death and the decision to transform from Joy Division into New Order, the still-earth-shattered band spent the rest of 1980 and 1981 looking for a new direction, hanging out in clubs, and learning how to produce themselves in the studio. And, according to Simon Reynolds in Rip It Up and Start Again: Postpunk 1978-1984, “the group had been cheering itself up by listening to peppy electronic disco from Italy.”

Blue Monday/ The Beach was one 12 inches long player, young person. My sister had the 12". Both what you call remixes were on it as Blue Monday side A The Beach side B. So go fuck yourself about your knowledge of music history.
you're right. it's the flip side version of the original vinyl 12", which looked like a huge floppy disc (check Wiki, youngsters) which i bought immediately when it was available in '83. Personally, i thought thís was Blue Monday for quite a while... 'cause my labels are stuck on the wrong side of the disc... ;-) but you're totally right. This is The Beach
You are absolutely correct Mr. Dastardly. I bought Power, Corruption, and Lies in 1983 on cassette tape here in the U.S.A. and The Beach was the last track on that tape. Blue Monday might have been the forth track. The original British release did not contain either track. So yes, this is The Beach.
This is the original version of Blue Monday before they fit it for lyrics. I would ask other musicians who work with music composition and often make instrumentals to back me up on this.
