Thanks for a well balanced viewpoint. I have also taken the pragmatic approach to the DLC and I agree with almost everything you say (I didn't know about oasisaur cooldown, but I'd rather have 60 more dinos available than an ability to revive the odd one that died). But... when I asked on our PVE cluster if anyone wanted to trade for some ascendant treasure maps I had found, but couldn't use since I don't have the DLC, people were biting my hand off to get hold of them. It is a gamble but both the ones I traded turned up blueprints for around 1000 pt armour. Obviously this has little or no impact on PVE (which is all I play), especially if tribes trade and loan and do bosses together, but that kind of edge must be essential for PVP? I can see the DLC becoming a must have for PVP players, so possibly pay to win depending on your game type?
I agree with everything you said. I love Ark and love I can help them make money to develop cool new things for the game. Glad to pay for a game I have 5k plus hours into.
The random dropped treasure map is one you missed mentioning I think. It might be my favorite of the bunch. Randomly dropping maps from kills. Fun to do find it and dig up. Of the three I got they seemed like cave tier loot. Got 300+ ghille piece and it is saving me from heat with 475 heat resistance!

In singleplayer it did. I doubt the limit is lower on servers
Kinda sucks since they reduced the tribe Dino count from 500 to 250
i got it and after i logged out of my single player world and logged back in it says i have to buy the dlc to use the items even though it says i have it
What about the extra 5 levels your character gets for finding all of the Bob's Tale Notes?

The train and tracks was an absolute fail addition to multiplayer official servers. Ive seen already a tribe trying to build a circle around the entire outer desert map as well as pillaring everywhere for future train railways. WC prob wont address excessive pillaring now because it is part of the game for the tracks. And now people are also building them across the island servers, killing spawn points and crapping up the map. Cool thing for single player, like you said, but this is a major fail for online.
If they wanna do that then thats their prerogative

@@StixStyle realistically how many people are actually going to do that? Or even pull it off for that matter. You could also say the same about any building pieces - Nothing is stopping someone from making 20 bases.
@@will.42069 , it is already happening on servers I am on by some. And while, yes, people can and do build multi-buildings, WC has (on ticket request) removed excessive pillaring and spawn blocking. Now they will not on any server as a person can justify over pillaring anywhere and everywhere because they can say they are building a train system. It is a great addition to single player or allowed on unofficial, but official is not the right placement for this.
@@StixStyle again though you can just build a small fake base and it complies with TOS. Also you said around the desert perimeter - realistically who is building there anyway? My sever is already pillared everywhere - if someone manages to build a train that goes around the map then fair play. I get what you’re saying it could be used to skirt TOS but people do it in other ways already.
IMHO there should be no items barred from players or tames that can be theoretically tamed, so if you bought the Bob's Tall Tales it should be on a server that everyone has the DLC, and Scorched Earth should be for people who either choose not to buy the Season Pass or choose to play without it.
All I know is that when my clan gets the new server and I set it up, unless I am outvoted, Scorched Earth and Bob's Tall Tales will be 2 different servers and I will have allot of configuration to do.
I think it was built on every intention to be not paid to win. Im not affected because i hang out on pve and rp servers but for pvp. Yhe oasisaurs ability to pick up every and movable carts you can armed with metal pretty much immediately killed pvp. People dropped rock golems into peoples bases and some use carts to ram a huge amounts of c4 into bases. I dont think they attend this outcome but pretty much pvp meta forces everyone to the limit caves and mesh spots. Or not bothering at all. And once caves are blocked. There goes element and boss fights. You cant reach tech. I think they still need to fix a lot of things with it.
Definitely pay to win. Without that outlaw-skin you’re basically a Bob for life.
I just learned that you can't reach max level without this paid DLC, and you can't bury your loot in PVP without it?
This seems massively pay to win.
Asa youtubers saying bobs tall tales isn’t worth it or a cash grab it’s funny Asa players forgot that the bob tall tales will contain the future dlc paided content for 30 dollars for pc maybe Xbox too 40 dollars for ps5 even saying it’s a pay to win it’s already worth it since the future content will be free if you buy it look how much content aberration and Extinction paided content will have when it releases
The shovel allows you to find insane buried treasure that can give items at or even over the item cap and can also spawn water anywhere. The coffin is a reusable sleeping bag. While not super OP, those are pay to win, and you failed to mention them
So far I have not found any OP stuff with the Treasure hunt. All good stuff I got from normal air supply drops.

@TiiaAurora I found it in single player but my loot rates are the same as official. I've found flak armor with over 700 armor, which shouldn't be possible through supply drops. It was a primitive shovel and an ascendant treasure map. Also, if you spawn in an ascendant shovel (idk if they can be obtained legit yet) and find an ascendant treasure map, you can get over 1k armor flak pieces.
@itzbraftoplayz7655 Beds require foundations. Sleeping bags do not. Coffins do not require foundations either, so they are a reusable version of the sleeping bag. It's not that deep

and about the treasure maps being honest it kinda just sounds like slightly more accessible and commen deep sea loot crates which you can find pretty easy on Schorched Earth to begin with, although i believe treasure maps have no level requirement so i'll give you that.
This Terrible review fails to mention the 5 extra levels given to the player and the absolutely O.P treasure maps with capped out Rex, theri saddles.

sure it isnt op right now but after promising scorched for free, and then spending dev time on stuff thats locked behind paywall, this is definitely not a good direction for asa to be going in. imo its the next step in a bad direction.

@@TiiaAurora yes i just meant instead of making scorched as good as it could be they instead spend dev time making these new paid mods. when i bought asa it was quite reasonably under the impression that i wouldnt have to pay more to keep up with meta on official servers. adding paid mods to official is crazy and tbh itll only get worse from here. in the past they always added new op things with every dlc to keep people buying and this is clearly their new way of doing that. disappointing really

To be honest it's valid critiscm and concern but all you can really do is give this kind of feedback and concern to ark dev AMA's
