One of the best swings ever in MLB history. Drafted 2nd overall in 1985 by San Francisco Giants. Made is debut in 1986. In his 1st a bat he took the express (Nolan Ryan) deep to center for a homerun... forever giant..
My favorite player growing up. Loved his smooth effortless swing but even more, really loved his intensity. You knew he was a diehard competitor and always gave 110%
I'm a Lifelong Giants fan and a Will Clark fanatic, but I'll have to tip my cap to the greatest swing ever.. Stan The Man Musial. Will's swing was often compared to Stan's
Fast forward to 2017-2018: Because of Will Clark, teams were not able to read the pitchers lips, so the Houston Astros set up a live feed in the clubhouse, stole the signs and relayed the pitches to their batters via trash can banging. Will Clark.. the man who changed the game forever. Should be in the HoF just for that reason.
My favorite player growing up. Passionate, intense, focus, at times angry af lol, at times cocky af. Loved watching Will play. Before batflips were a thing, Clark was dropping bats staring down his longballs. Dude doesn't get nearly the respect he deserves.
Will Clark, my 2nd favorite player all time. I met him when he played for Cotuit in the cape league, and he had , besides Griffey jr, the prettiest swing I ever saw
I always love seeing clips of one of the sweetest swings in baseball history, it just makes it that much better hearing the great Vin scully's voice again! Bonus
One of the great sf giants to wear the uniform. If I remember he wad 1988 leagues mvp. What stands out the most was his grit and intensity. Yet he swung with balance and flair. There was something truly special about him.
Growing up in Fresno in the 80 i LOVED Will Clark. Had over 100 over his baseball cards and wore 22 playing little league. Was so upset when he left the giants
@@impittsburghpiratesfandont7867 Statistically he's the best. Everything else is really just picking and choosing your favorite out of a list of 6 or 7 other pitchers lol.
BrokenGod Ent. How is 294 losses statistically the best? With just 324 wins? With all those walks and hit batters. And I know he pitched for 27 years, but his control wasn’t all that good. If anything, Pedro Martinez was better
Wasn’t really into the mlb. Football and basketball have been my sports growing up. But when I found out my best friends dad is Will Clark. Started to go back and look at all his highlights and now I’m trying to follow in his footsteps. He taught me some lessons and now let’s just see where this goes
Boggles the mine that a life time .300 hitter is not in the HOF?! He was one of the most feared hitters of his generation. Played in a tough park for most of his career which hindered his stats and no “JUICE”.
It just means the HOF isn't worth spit. It's an absolute crime. Andre Dawson and other commons get inducted and Clark sits out? I heard it was because he didn't play long enough - too many injuries etc. But that means that the spirit of baseball of has left the HOF and it's all about autism and numbers. Clark was feared and loved for a generation.
If he stays in San Francisco and spends so many years hitting behind the most feared hitter in ⚾️ history, he'd be in the Hall of Fame with all time great numbers.
We had heard of Will Clark and also included his swing with Griffeys... both swings for the lack of a better term they were flawless but Griffeys was just a tiny bit
How many amazing first basements back in the 80s and 90s man. Got Mattingly, Hernandez, Clark, grace, Joyner how this moment, Palmeiro before the juice, you can’t leave out Maguire I’m sure am missing a few
Everyone says how great his swing was but his defense on first base was revolutionary for the time he played now every 1st baseman does the split to pick a low throw . He was doing that in the 1980’s when 1st baseman were considered the weak link of the infield.
dude we must be about same age, I'm on the other side of rivalry... never understood why my family didn't like Orel Hershiser. I thought he was awesome lol
clark had an absurd home run in a cardinals uniform. pitch was high and outside fastball. he got on top of it and yanked it down the right field line....absolutely absurd. i wish i could find it. i can still picture it
I remember very well part of an interview with Clark circa '89 or '90, focused on his hitting. Don't rememember the interviewer. But I do recall Clark saying "I've been blessed with a swing, but I've had to work my butt off to perfect it. "And it ain't there yet!" Perhaps not, but it came pretty damn close.
Ozzie Smith punching Will in the back of the head like a coward. It was a clean slide. I digress... WHAT A SWING Will the Thrill Clark had! I had never seen a player light Maddux up like that in a single game--a double and two jacks?! Insane
I think I was 15. Paying Babe Ruth summer league. Center field. Up to bat walks this tall lanky kid. Coach waves us to back up. Yeah, Will still hit it over our heads. Triple. What a swing.
The grand slam in the 1989 NLCS is why players today all cover gloves mouths with their gloves when they talk. Clark could read the lips of the Cubs catcher and Greg Maddux. He knew what the pitch was and location.
Absolutely - people don’t get what power he had. Lots of hits in on the hands and off sweetspot that still went for doubles and over OF heads, and lots of oppo HR/s.
Old Ozzie looks like he tried to cheap shot him and it looks like Mitchell came in and popped Ozzie. That old Giants and Cardinals rivalry was real. I think it still exists due to the frequent post season meetings.
I would not wanna pitch to Clark ever! Back when baseball players where actually tough guys! Clarks the type of player you hit him with a pitch he's gonna rush the mound

Awesome fact! Never knew that. Overall an underrated great. Thank you for watching, and if you could subscribe that would really help me out.
He was named the man with no fear for that, i cant believe that clip is not here

Only took 1 year to get called up. Dude was a natural
Absolutely my favorite baseball player ever. Got to watch him growing up. Will The Thrill was the best!!! I watched Bonds, too!
Yea man,Will the Thrill Clark,Griffey Jr and probably add Strawberry for the purest looking swings!!Awesome!!
So much swag on the swing, effortless
Agreed
Will always brought the drama. My favorite player as a kid.
My favorite player growing up. Loved his smooth effortless swing but even more, really loved his intensity. You knew he was a diehard competitor and always gave 110%
Maybe if he gave 95-100 more often he’d have been injured less

Will Clark, Bonds and Matt Williams in 1993 was a scary lineup
And didn’t even make the playoffs while winning 103 games. Such BS.
