  • I bought an old 1979 Cessna 182Q and designed a refurbishment package to bring her up to modern standards with state of the art avionics, a new leather executive interior and a fantastic re paint with the design based on the original 1970's Cessna designs. @ginclearaviation

    Great job on the panel. Congratulations for keeping a 1970’s paint scheme… the orange looks spectacular! Well done

    Wow Dan well done, congratulations on what must have turned out to be tens of thousands additional expense put into your C182. But the main thing is you now have a thoroughly restored aircraft, low time engine and superb interior and panel. I’m constantly on the look out for good (by which I mean professional, conscientious and communicative) engineering support in the UK to help look after our PA-24 Comanche. If you feel able to share any recommendations please let me know.
    Enjoy your many adventures to come in the Cessna.

      Hi 'EtiRats', thanks for your kind words and encouragement. Do to my experiences and hard found contacts I have now started a company called 'Gin Clear Aviation' that specialises in aircraft refurbishment project management and consultation. I have two PA 28's (a 180 and a 235) going through the process as we speak (videos to follow once the projects are completed) I have engineers, interior and paint company affiliations. If you need anything sorting send over a brief and I can try and help. Regards, Dan - Gin Clear Aviation.

    Nice job. I'm going down a similar route with my RV6, initially I bought two G5s but by the time you work out the cost difference to go for a G3X and the extra functionality it's a no brainer.
    My one concern is to do with having all the engine instrumentation on the one 10" display. How are you finding that set up? I am finding it hard to justify a second 7" screen as I feel it will be unnecessary, but having a dedicated engine monitor display would be nice.

      @ginclearaviation  11 місяців тому

      The engine monitor is very useful and one of my main requirements. It works very well on the G3X 10 inch screen. There is plenty of space. You can change the way it appears on the screen with one touch. You don't need a second screen.

      Thanks Dan, I've decided to stick with the one G3X display. Glad to hear you are happy with the engine instrumentation.

    Well done and worth the investment. Outstanding plane. Has anyone told you that you sound like Malcolm McDowell in "A Clockwork Orange?"

    • @ginclearaviation
      @ginclearaviation  Рік тому +1

      It was definitely worth the investment of time and cost. I just love flying this plane. Thanks for liking the video. I'll take the Malcolm McDowell comment as a compliment!! :)

    2:45 Ah yes the aerodynamic stability of the C182. A bit of pitch and rudder trim and you can't really tell if the auto pilot is connected or not.

      You are right, a fab plane that just eats the miles as you fly along in stable comfort.

    Hello Dan,
    Is that a carburated or injected O-470?

    • @ginclearaviation
      @ginclearaviation  Місяць тому +1

      Non fuel injected, i.e. normally aspirated / carburated O-470.

    • @manuelortiz9327
      @manuelortiz9327 Місяць тому

      Very even delta from peak across your cylinders for being a 470 carburated engine. If you ever come to Guatemala let me know.

    Can you give an indication of cost for the avionics please?

    • @ginclearaviation
      @ginclearaviation  7 місяців тому

      Cost is a tricky question to answer due to the different avionics prices and fitting costs. It's best to get a current cost from an avionics shop.

      @@ginclearaviation ok. Even a range. I’ve no idea if that’s £30k or £100k!

      Less than $5000 here in the USA…Pacific_Coast_Avionics…Oregon did mine. A completely new aluminum panel…I mean 100% new with all Garmin..ex..3000 NXI…$100,000…with every penny…In Texas there is an interior shop…I think around Dallas will charge $40,000 for a new leather interior fit for royalty…a paint shop in Phoenix, Arizona will charge around $20,000 for a paint that will make national headlines….
      So, ask yourself what’s important to you and your return on your investment and love of flying…3 blade controllable pitch prop is $10 to $15 grand…300 hp fuel injected IO-520-D ..Teledyne Continental with Gami Injectors will cost $50 grand …+/-…I did ALL this to my 1976 Cessna 182Q…I’m at break even on its upgrade cost and repair versus its resale value today..May, 2024…All the best from Mendocino County, California…KUKI MUNICIPAL AIRPORT…🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
