BMW never saw fit to import this version of the 318ti to the US; all we had was the e36 version from 1995-1999. The e36 version is a great car, pretty rare, appreciating, a blast to drive especially with a manual 5 speed. The 1.9L inline 4 cylinder really likes to be revved, yet delivers an average 28 MPG in city/highway driving. As a hatchback it wasn't very desirable when new, but now it's view more like a small SUV.....In 2019 you can still find a great cared for example for under $10k; those with higher mileage and needing some love are half that.

I own a 2002 edition and I love it. RF ball joint was the only fault so far. Mine is an automatic with sport mode.
