I recently got bored of the regular DJI type drones, so I hopped on the FPV train. Here is the result of my first week with my new quad, trying to add a cinematic touch.
I trained on a simulator for about 20h before the first flight.
I didn't mount the Gopro properly, so there is a significant amount of jello at times. Also I need to shoot at a higher resolution because the result looks a bit mushy after stabilisation (reelsteady) and color grading.

The color correction is spot on, stabilization is real steady, transitions are smooth, audio effects are crisp and well-placed, this is a beautiful video.

Mostly just a shame that the image isn't sharper. Feels like one could've improved that in post.

Just about how hard was it to make, how much it was for parts (if possible) and where you found the simulator!
It was pretty easy to make, you just need to know how to solder wires and reed datasheets. There are plenty of tutorials on the internet.
The total cost was about 1100 euros. But once you have the transmitter, the fpv googles and everything, you can upgrade your drone for less than 200 euros. So it's expensive to get into, but cheap and very modular in the long run. I put a part list in the description, so you can google the prices.
For the sim I use Liftoff, you can find in on steam.

There are actually really cheap ways to get into FPV, there are youtube videos for building small ones for 120 bucks + remote and goggles.
ps: It would be so nice to have some making of to this awesome peace of art!

Ta vidéo fait tellement plaisir. Je viens de découvrir le monde du fpv et de commander mon propre drone. Deja plus de 30h sur simu et j'ai qu'une envie tester sur le terrain. Il se trouve d'ailleurs que j'irai sur Monétier-les-bains cet été; quels bon spots me conseilles tu? Je comptais déjà test à la halte roche robert et l'aiguille du Lauzet.

Salut! et bah impressionnant le pilotage pour le peu de temps en simulation et entrainement.franchement bravo! moi j'en suis a 40h de simulation et je commence le fpv dans 1 mois environ.pareil ça me lasse un peu le drone stabilisé. j'espère m'en sortir aussi bien que toi. la colorimétrie change de certaines vidéo et franchement j'aime bien.et le fait que toutes les séquences ne soient pas trop rapide j'apprécie. oui oui on peut monter du fpv sans mettre la vitesse à fond. super mec bravo en tout cas!!
How do you get such well balanced footage out of a gopro? :o and is that stabilization with a gimbal or just the in camera stabilisation from gopro? nice video mate!

The simulator is a bit more floaty than real life, other than that it is exactly the same. Makes it easy to learn !
Nicolas Gaillard which simulator do you use? I imagine you linked up the taranis to the computer? Full manual mode?
I use Liftoff, it's pretty good. Yeah I linked the taranis, and accro mode of course.

Nicolas Gaillard y'avait pas un souci avec Reelsteady, je suis allé sur leur forum et vu beaucoup de gens se plaindre qu'ils ne l'ont jamais mis à jour depuis des années et que ça n'est pas compatible avec les versions récentes de Première Pro ? :( (oui j'ai vu que tu étais français en fait ^^)
Mr Nobody Si, le logiciel n'est plus mis à jour depuis un moment. Plus de support technique non plus. En fait ils ont juste arrêté le développement, c'est dommage. La dernière version est compatible avec Ae CC 2014 max...
Nicolas Gaillard c'est dingue, et bien dommage. De ce que j'ai vu de mes recherches ça avait l'air d'être le meilleur plug-in de stab, et de loin. Et au prix qu'ils le vendaient ils ont pas réussi à continuer le dev ? :o

Dope video, really nice work. One constructive note: all the footage that's really obviously just in reverse gets old fast. When you use the base drop reveal "thru-the-chairlift" thing once it's cool, or in a artful way, but too much is lame. Sweet keep postin :)

I too have owned and flown the P4, P4P, Air, Mavic 2 Pro. I too have grown bored so I ordered and just received my Marmotte 5 with TOA motors. It's a learning curve on getting off the ground but I do love the speed and ability to go to new heights.
