Ya for PvP it does indeed work very well, but you can still be tackled by high tier HOTA/Assassins. I'm experimenting a few things, but mainly getting above 75% DR to injured has helped tremendously. Stay tuned for the PvP video

@@KingGault fair enough and thanks for replying. Did you test the aspects of inner calm vs Rapid? I feel like once I get things positioned I do stand still for a bit.
Love the video. How does this compare to WW and HOTA builds? I kind of get bored of HOTA and WW doesn't have single target dips for me. I'm lvl 88 and looking for something to chill with until s1 releases.
Would love to see you try to incorporate razorplate into your nm tier 100 build. I know once you get up to that level you need the damage reduction but maybe there are a couple paragon point changes that could make it work. It would be awesome to see!
thanks again, I adjusted my hota lvl93 (still grinding) build to incorporate razorplate & needleflare & fire aura & beserk ripping and the needed thorns talents you have shown. Hota still hits for 5-6 mill but getting pretty strong results from thorns as well (wasnt able to fit thorns while beserk aspect). Seemed very effective build in pvp, still hunting some gear with max life (only at 9k health) , not sure I'll commit to full thorns but happy with the result.
The massive damage does take quite a bit of health, 25kish. But when you are there, thorns hits up to 1mil, x 80% of the mobs surrounding you. So technically, if you have 20 mobs, you can hit for around 16mil :)
Awesome work. What you've accomplished is really impressive. How does this speed build feel in helltides? Also, what are your plans for Season 1? More Barb or a different class? Also, what would you swap Iron Skin out for when you don't have the unstoppable aspect?
I actually prefer using Death Blow when not using iron skin :) But I also used Flay and Frenzy which is fun and more sustainable. I will be playing Barb in S1 and will be updating all of my build to reflect it so stay tuned :) Helltides, or anything on normal wt4 difficulty, is instant dead.
A leveling video would be great, maybe if you recommend thorns from the start or transition into it after a certain level or aspect. Thanks! Great work!
@@KingGault Nice. I've been taking my time, so as to not get too burned out on it before season 1 starts, but my main is at lvl 96. I do ok damage with my build, but it's nowhere near where I would want it to be.
Thank you for the videos - I got a good polearm (2h slashing) w/ good 3 out of the 4 stats. However, it is only item level 737. Does the DPS on it matter or the stats? Worth spending the money to re-roll the one stat being a low item level?
I'm really appreciate you sharing this build, and I need your opinion. What about using Rend to extend enemies's vulnerable state instead of 'iron skin'?
Iron skin can be replaced with anything when not pushing high tier. And really, the iron skin is mainly for a stun break to avoid death and to give you a nice shield value. Glad you enjoyed the build, stay tuned for more
I've found for weapons. Vulnerable, close, strength, dmg while berserk on axes seems to be best. I also have a necklace with the perk under outburst "can't remember the name" and plus 3 to defensive skill. Cool down, armor percent, i would be hard pressed to replace it
Outburst, if thorns, does not go above Rank 3. So that affix is okay to have if you want to refund your points, but I would recommend switching it to Tough as Nails. Outburst would be better since 3 ranks gives 20% life as thorns, but when you equip the extra +3, it doesn't provide any bonus. Defensive skill +3 is also very good for some builds, but it only a very minimal damage reduction increase, so IMO a true DR roll is best. Armor % is also very good, as long as you aren't above the cap @ 100 stack of armor. Close/Dmg berserk are very good, I prefer all stats only because I use +STR% on my amulet to get over 1800. That being said, it sounds like it's working wonderfully for you, so keep up the good work but check that outburst skill
@KingGault thats the skill I was referring to. It's tough as nails is whats on my amulet. Outburst at 3 and tough as nails as 6. Also what is the armor cap so I know if I need to make a adjustment. Also I see the reason for all stat , I choose mostly dmg while berserk since it is the only other possible bucket for thorns
Thanks for the content regarding Thorn builds. Just wanted to let you know the highest resolution I could get from this video was 360p. I'm not sure why since your previous videos were in high res.
Thank you for the build, sir! I copied-pasta and having a blast with it. Can you comment about the Bear Clan ring and what could be a replacement. Also, does the Inner Calm aspect work on this build? Thx again and looking forward to more content :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Calm Aspect absolutely does work, but it cancels if you ever weapon swap using skills just an FYI. Bear ring --- there's unfortunately nothing to replace it. If you can't find it using obols / helltide then I would would probably use calm aspect, which may have to go on your weapon but the berserking fire damage can be put on a ring. Hope that's helpful and stay tuned for more cool stuff
Omg thanks for the vampiric tips, im color blind even with the filter couldnt see shit, didnt knew theyd glowed red, so i had give up my recent blind burrow runs fml
Hey, i've been looking for a long time for someone who is able to make thorns works ! Thanks for the guide it's awesome ! Though i'm still thinking that there is something missing when you are on boss fights, like not enough damage when the boss doesn't proc your thorns. I'm looking forward to the PVP build !!
Epic vid once again mate! Im trying to find some quick clarification and wonder if you'd know - does the counteroffensive passive help this thorns build? Or is thorns solely pumped from str/vuln/additives?
It does help a little, but it's technically in the same bucket as close/slow/bleed etc... so it's not THAT good. +STR/vuln/Life is all we truly care about.
You seem to rely heavily on damage reduction while fortified but choose to use steadfast berserker's aspect which relies on lucky hits, which only your frenzy can lucky hit since that's the skill you're choosing to use, also lucky hits are not 1/3 of your hits, you have to proc a lucky hit with frenzy which has its own innate chance and then also proc the aspects percent chance, so it's really a lot worse than we think. why not just go with aspect of numbing wrath instead and really solidify keeping your fortify up, it gives you fortify for each point of fury generated while at max fury since you don't use a core skill this seems to make sense or am I missing something here.
You are right that its not 30%, its more like 11 or 12%. That being said, the amount of fort you get and the speed in which you attack makes it a little better IMO. I did test the other one and it works well too, I just prefer frenzy luck :)
Great video once again bro liked and subbed. Since i am level 50 and don't have my glyphs yet should i just farm my codex imprints for basic codex build at level 50? I have all the skill points in the tree just not the armour stats and paragon board yet. Then slowly work on stats? I cannot even clear tier 2 nightmare atm bro its dire.
For leveling up before lvl 80, you really should prioritize +life on rings/helmet/legs/chest with +DR on chest/legs/amulet. +STR/+Vuln/+All stats on weapons - and either codex's or upgrade with aspects that you find. Hope that helps, and stay tuned for a full leveling guide here soon
Preferably 2h Mace / 1H Axes x2 / 2h Polearm/Axe --- Stats are the most important however, which you want specifically +STR/+Vuln Dmg/+All Stats - 4th doesn't really matter. Good luck on the barbarian and hope you enjoy it :)
@@KingGault Thanks for your fast reply :) I am a bit confused about the Technique 2 Handed axe you got posted in your build. The skills i use now from your build does not have 2 handed axe skills. Frenzy and Steel grasp does not reguier 2 handed axe and your build reguier Technique 2 handed axe. what skill do i need to use to lv up the 2 handed technigue?
I've really only played thorns, and to go with any core abilities you really have to stack core dmg/crit/crit dmg, which thorns benefits 0 from. So unfortunately I haven't played with it yet!
Hey man, I respecced to thorns to push for the nightmare dungeons, but I found myself stuck in so many of those that have vampiric affixes. Do you have a list of dungeons you successfully manage to complete at a high 85+ tiers? Thank you!
Have you tested the unique Frenzy necklace for the extra ranks and stacks? I think you mentioned in a video that the frenzy damage is negligible. Is there a world where frenzy damage output does anything relevant?
I believe so, I haven't tested it myself, but it seems if you stack enough basic attack and +str it could be viable. As far as the neck for stacks and ranks, the DR doesn't actually give you another 16%, more like 7-8%, and the damage is negligble.
@@KingGault There's a mechanic where the "spend 50 fury for 25% damage bonus" on Wrath of the Berserker can stack if you never let it fall off. Not sure how possible this would be in a dungeon - but maybe something useful for bosses like Lilith?
I've played with this, you actually get 50% bumps for using kick to fury dump it. It's interesting because it does improve thorns damage, just haven't quite played around with it enough yet to fit it in the build. But it does seem pretty nice :)
Im doing a hybrid build of this, thorns whirl wind, currently breezing through NM50 dungeons at lvl 97 with sub-optimal gear. Would you say Im totally wasting thorns by spinning around? I feel like I get a good amount of thorns procs anyway, especially with needleflare aspect.
What do you think of extending the challenging shout duration by using the "crowd control duration" affixes on neck and head, maybe combined with the "smiting aspect"? i think we can reach around 56%+ and 40%x (78.4%) or so increased duration which would mean that we have a permanent challenging shout effect.
Nice man, I’m planning on rolling this in S1 too. Can you go through paragon choices at some point? Also if you think the patch on the 18th makes it non viable please let your subs know! Love the content.
As a matter of fact, I already have a guide video on the build, go check it out for paragon explanation and full in-depth discussion on the build. I will also be releasing a video for Season 1 so stay tuned for that mid season
Nice one, I run about close to 30K thorns buffed and close to 17k while in town. My barb is 85 and mobs one shot them self 5 levels higher in NM. I do have a different build in paragon but almost the same. Is running basic skill gems buffing thorns in any way, and if not why don't use skulls?
Yes the paragon board gives over 20% HP so that maybe where you are missing, plus life gems in armor and life rolls on rings/helm. You can also get life rolls on chest/legs/1unique neck but the dropoff to DR is to great.
anyway we can get a d4build for this version? Atleast for me it helps when I can have something pulled up on my other monitor to help track what I need to farm.
Well the cool thing about it is nothing changed! The only difference is the boots for movement speed, an amulet with movement speed, and the Razorplate chest. Hopefully that makes it easy on you
@KingGault I would love to have a discord conversation with you about this sometime. I just uploaded a video for friends of me taking your paragon board into pvp. I know EXACTLY what you mean about assassin and HoTAs. BOTH are in my video trying to kill me. Check out what I am calling the "Nerd Nuke," as only a thorn user will understand why it works. But, the HoTAs that are geared out still deal way to much damage for thorns to be applicable. Furthermore, when I DID kill them instantly with thorns, it seems almost random. Like thorns is proking a broken critical hit table or something. It makes thorns unpredictable, and in Pvp, I really don't like that. I'm really interested in your opinion, So let me know.
I love it, I am easy to find on Discord, just HMU anytime! I believe Assassin/HOTA are actually bugged as AoE isn't proccing armor reduction or thorns damage... which supposedly what I hear is it will be getting fixed. That being said, I released a PvP video today, and it shows how I can survive very very well by strictly getting my DR to injured to an absurd 79%. Check it out, and HMU on Discord friend
@@KingGault If you know what damage/defense caps aply to PVP let us know. I've heard some rumors about crit damage cap (not a problem problem for thorns build but still some info would be nice if possible). Also unique farming sounds awesome. I would like to get those Razorplates early next season for smooth leveling! 👍
In what circumstance or which NM speedfarm level would you swap out your iron skin to flay? I read somewhere that you sometimes did that for lower levels
You're right, PvP with the default build is really good, the only things that can tackle you are really high tier HOTA/Assassins. That being said, I'm testing with over 75%DR to injured and it's make an enormous difference... so stay tuned for the PvP vid :)
@@KingGault I just pop dmg reduc shout, iron skin and let them blow their CDs and then just watch them either die or run. I find it more about managing cds

@@KingGault thanks its a bunch of fun! on second to last paragon board i cut straight across to the rare node before going down to final board not sure if its worth it but love the build. you gonna blow up for sure!
Absolutely, I only used thorns from lvl 1-100. You should prioritize +life on rings/helmet/legs/chest with +DR on chest/legs/amulet. +STR/+Vuln/+All stats on weapons. Also, you may want to invest your skill points into DR while fortified (3x skill points) instead of 1h attack speed. Stay tuned for a full leveling guide soon!
@@KingGault Thanks for the reply, I immediately farmed the gears you are using the moment MurderInc posted your video and currently I'm only missing the boots to finally transition from HoTA to thorns. I wanted to tank tier100 for my friend (rogue, sorc, necro), hopefully the monster damage scaling is not huge to be able to tank them. The HP scaling is not a problem since 3DPS with a tank will still melt them anyway
In a group, I strongly advise you to use 3x incense, mainly 500 HP, + ALL STAT, +STR level 1/2/3 --- this amplifies to the amount of group members nearby, ie 4x the amount in full group --- Good luck

You watched it before it was fully uploaded, it still has 6minutes to process lol... but I really appreciate you bein here right away!
Ok, thanks
Oh no! They do also have an audio que, sounds like a gong being hit. Good luck friend
I'm glad you enjoyed it
Epic vid once again mate!
Thanks man! Great to have the basic core ideas just laid out like that, for someone like me - a lot of the theory goes over my head 😅
I'm interested in hearing how you've farmed 200 uniques outside of nightmare dungeons 🤔
Will do! I'm waitin for a few of my buds and will show how soon! Stay tuned
@@KingGault Thank you so much bro ! I wrote down the stats to look out for time to grind :)
Good luck friend :)
Thanks for the great video i am trying out your build now, but i never played this class before and i like to know which weapons i need :)
Frenzy and Steel grasp does not reguier 2 handed axe and your build reguier Technique 2 handed axe. what skill do i need to use to lv up the 2 handed technigue?
love that build! i wanna know where to farm uniques!
In the works! Stay tuned
@@KingGault eager to watch it! im having trouble finding materials to improve your build as im finding the legendaries and uniques
love ur guides
I'm so very glad you enjoy them. Stay tuned for even more cool stuff coming
Do u tried a version with double swing for single target dps? I playing around with a combo of booth
I've really only played thorns, and to go with any core abilities you really have to stack core dmg/crit/crit dmg, which thorns benefits 0 from. So unfortunately I haven't played with it yet!
nice barb!
please make unique farming video
Coming soon! Glad you enjoyed
Yeah plz, do all the vids you've mentioned
Sounds like you are enjoying everything so far! I'm very glad to hear it and will continue to bring out some cool stuff on the build :)
Build is badass, got tired of spin to win. I'm sure if ya need well help you fund the build my guy!!!
Haha I appreciate that boss! Mainly just finding the time to play, but I will be bringing out a ton more content throughout the season so stay tuned!
WW thorns is great! You take damage and maybe even pull them with your WW, plus perhaps apply vuln non stop!
What do you think of extending the challenging shout duration by using the "crowd control duration" affixes on neck and head, maybe combined with the "smiting aspect"? i think we can reach around 56%+ and 40%x (78.4%) or so increased duration which would mean that we have a permanent challenging shout effect.
Interested to know your strat for unique farming?? Do you run helltide?
Wait for your Video about uniques farming :-)
Possibly :) Let's see what everyone thinks
@@KingGault Absolutely interested in this!
I removed Iron skin and used kick for constant bezerk uptime
Kick is a lot of fun to use! You can even combo it with berserker ultimate to get 50% damage x 3 --- lot of fun! Enjoy
Nice man, I’m planning on rolling this in S1 too. Can you go through paragon choices at some point? Also if you think the patch on the 18th makes it non viable please let your subs know! Love the content.
me 2, is Thorns good for leveleing the barb to T4?
As a matter of fact, I already have a guide video on the build, go check it out for paragon explanation and full in-depth discussion on the build. I will also be releasing a video for Season 1 so stay tuned for that mid season
@@KingGault 😁 thx
Man,, I had that axe but when I was clearing out my gear I didn't realise I marked it for deletion, wish they had a lock feature on gear.
I believe it's in the works, and that really stinks :( Hopefully you can clear things pretty fast and get a new one to drop! GL friend
Nice one, I run about close to 30K thorns buffed and close to 17k while in town. My barb is 85 and mobs one shot them self 5 levels higher in NM. I do have a different build in paragon but almost the same.
Is running basic skill gems buffing thorns in any way, and if not why don't use skulls?
have you thought of using imbiber glyph its certain a lot of dmg
When I am not a strength junky I swap it with the thorns glyph
22k life thats crazy man, im at 17k with max life on everything except rings. Is it something in the paragon board?
Yes the paragon board gives over 20% HP so that maybe where you are missing, plus life gems in armor and life rolls on rings/helm. You can also get life rolls on chest/legs/1unique neck but the dropoff to DR is to great.
Please make a theory craft build video and a unique farm video.
Sounds like a plan
Love the build bro.
I really appreciate that! Stay tuned for some more cool content with this build
anyway we can get a d4build for this version? Atleast for me it helps when I can have something pulled up on my other monitor to help track what I need to farm.
Well the cool thing about it is nothing changed! The only difference is the boots for movement speed, an amulet with movement speed, and the Razorplate chest. Hopefully that makes it easy on you
What adjustments do you like to make for thorns pvp?
Mainly to maximize damage while injured. Still working on a perfect build for it as HOTA and Assassins high tier are pretty rough
Awesome. Now we just need the PVP one to melt all those Rogues!
Yes we do, it will be coming as soon as I can get it done, so stay tuned!
Please
This rogues pain in the as
@@KingGault If you know what damage/defense caps aply to PVP let us know.
Well you can definitely do that for 65 and less since iron skin is basically useless. I just didn't want to spend the little gold I had
How do you deal with vampiric aura
Kite when they glow red! It also plays a "gong" sound to alert you. Once they stop glowing red, roughly 3 seconds, re-engage!
What transmog is your helmet!?
Killer's set (PvP token turn in)
You doing any different in pvp? I ran my push gear in pvp and was overly annoying to everyone in pvp grounds. I was getting a bunch of kills.
I find it more about managing cds
do you just keep crafting till you get blind dungeon?
That was the plan, still haven't gotten a 100 blind burrows tho 🤣 - Also if I get 99 or 98 burrows I will clear that hunting for sigils
Do you always use 2 axes or does it matter what 1 hand weapons you use.
Think I'll try out the build in the upcoming season! Right now I'm kinda hooked on an upheaval build - and all of my druid stuff is taking the inventory space at the moment, lol!
Heck ya! Upheavel is fun, inventory space is not :( GL in S1, stay tuned for more info on how the build changes with the new gems
@@KingGault Indeed! I will stay tuned for S1, definitely!
Where do you livestream?
Bro this build is nuts. First build I got bonus from every node. Can't find the ring aspect tho
Nice work! Ring is pretty rare, gambling works really well... good luck on your grind :)
@@KingGault thanks its a bunch of fun! on second to last paragon board i cut straight across to the rare node before going down to final board not sure if its worth it but love the build. you gonna blow up for sure!
Very cool build.
Glad you liked it! I'll be putting out some more cool stuff about it as soon as I can so stay tuned
I cant bear the screen shake per m1 it drove me nuts as a barb
It allows me to agglutinate with D4
I just got to lvl 50 do you think I should stick to ww build or go thorn?
Completely up to you boss! With thorns at-least you know you have a reliable person to give you insight :)
Show us that theory crafting! :)
Will do thanks for following along, I'll do my best to get it out ASAP
great video
Glad you enjoyed it, more to come soon :)
Does +% physical damage on gear help thorns damage like in Diablo 3?
As far as everything I tested, no unfortunately :(
Is there a way i can use this somehow effective when leveling? From 20-60 i.e. :X. Cause this is probably the endgame i'll never reach xD
Can you do Lilith with this?
Not without a few adjustments, I will try to release something on it soon
@@KingGault Awesome, thanks for the great vids and detail with them.
Thanks for the support! I will continue to roll out some cool stuff so stay tuned
'''excellent content
I am very glad you enjoyed it :) Stay tuned for some more cool stuff
Have you tried it with 4 players on Tier100? Can it still tank with full party?
Not yet! To be quite frank, I am not able to play as much due to work/life but I will definitely give it a shot as soon as I can! Stay tuned
Bro. How can I get a dang razor plate?! I can’t get it to drop! 😭
They seem to be very rare lol. I got 1 way past lvl 100, and I got a 2nd, out of over 200 uniques. GL on the grind
@@KingGault I have found 7 Rage so far. Every time i see that unique chest armor I get so hype. And then see it’s a Rage and I cry 😂😭
