Loro Parque: taking a urine sample from Skyla

During a private training session trainers take a urine sample from Skyla. The orcas a trained to pee in a special cup when it is presented to them. This is one of the many voluntary husbandry behaviors which the whales can do. This way the trainers and veteranarians can moniter their health and wellbeing more easily.

I am studying animal care and management at an animal school in The Netherlands. One of the trainers at Loro Parque (who is talking Dutch to us) used to go to my school. So during my school excursion in Tenerife we met up with her and she showed us all sorts of things.
