immediate creative benefits gained from watching this video on VCAs! The idea of cascading drive stages on an analog VCA is so obvious in retrospect, yet so cool to get those bright waveshapes from your sine wave. The oscilloscope really makes it clear what's going on. Nice going
I disagree that it's better or at least objectively better. Saturn by Fab Filter does an amazing job BUT with a bit more work and you may need multiple instances of Saturn to get a convincing simulation of the staged clipping (think an instance of Saturn for each stage of Distortion (VCA). ---Dan Worrell has a series of videos on how to use Saturn to emulate an entire guitar amp and it's many stages of saturation. but to be clear, and to not discredit your comment; you can get some FAST results with the module rather than just fiddling with a VST. something to consider is you will get some noise in the modular signal as modular isn't "perfect" like a VST. This can be preferred since most analog modeled VSTs will add noise which our ears tend to appreciate. secondly, there are no presets in the analog world.
Strateggo do you plan on making any videos or audio with the RT 451? I didn’t hold on to mine for very long and I’ve been thinking about gettin it again, there’s almost no demos of it in “normal” bass patches for example.
@@AiynZahevSounds i don't make any videos, just don't have the patience to record/edit/upload and perform. Have you looked at the demos from the manufacturer? I think I've also saw one vid where the 451 is used in a TB-303-like patch, but can't remember which - the sound was exactly that of my TB-03 Roland.
Brilliant video! I just can't figure out how the audio file comes from the DAW and goes to the VCA modulated by MATHS. How do you you connect all and what kind of routing in the DAW?
Hi can you tell me where the vocal sample comes from at the orbital manouevrs section .. as in what track is it from ? Thanks and great informative video 👌
hello! superb tips on the quad VCA, I've come back to this a few times. I was wondering what filter the sub37 is going through at 6:38, it transitions smoothly from lowpass to bandpass and what it providing that movement? Thanks Sami! I acknowledge this video is 3.5 years old haha
Could you make some videos of you creating patches and maybe making it into short demo tracks like you do for your soundbank videos? Love to see how you go about mixing and creating patches.
So the Quad VCA's output is connected to the audio interface directly? Or you're using some sort of output module to attenuate eurorack signal to the line level?
Inspiring! About that stereo signal : what female voice sample is playing from 7:45 please? Number station? Been looking for stereo number station samples in good quality for ages... most are in low khz
@@AiynZahevSounds This accent is bonkers, I'm Scottish and I'd swear you were from Edinburgh, but maybe lived in Canada for years. lolol Great vid, too. ;)
Very nice... love the stereo and distortion examples!

This was like a masterclass on VCAs! Absolutely fantastic. Thank you 🙏
Stereo panorama modulation of sound is nuts! I had no idea it is possible with this module, thank you for the demonstration.
Just stopping by to say your videos are a great help, thanks, I bought an E330 because you showed how versatile it is in a quality way!
Excellent, thank you for the comment.
I never thought VCAs could be so much fun! Thank you so much, this really opened up my sonic landscapes 😊
Such a clean sound, so much better than a VST

I have to agree with you really, even for just the panning stuff it sounds so good.
Exxelent video... clear, fun and informative 💚
Nice demo! It's inspiring to see modular being used like this. Love the gate effects.
Very cool VCA demo.
nice vid! What's the name of the the techno song at 4:50?
incredible video, thank you Sami
great demo -- i'm going to jump right back with the Quad, and use my Radikal RT-451 for modulation.

Thanks for this video, very helpful! I actually bought this module after watching this video 👍
thank-you Sami, this so informative

Black Octopus: Veela
Thanks for the video. Which scope are you using, it's really fast.
Hi thanks, It's from Melda Production: MOscilloscope
Excellent video man, I’ve bought 2 of em as you can never have too many VCA’s

Hey, sorry I don't know how I missed this question. Radikal Technologies 451 I think it's called. It's just a bandpass filter.
Great 👍🏻 which drum module you use?
This was all out of my DAW through ES-3 from Expert Sleepers
Cool 👍
Wow thank U!!!!
Great video, thanks!
Great demo!
thanks for inspiration
That boost switch is dope
Amazing!

That's a great idea. Do you mean on modular specifically or could it be on anything?
Anything.
I'll make it happen
AiynZahevSounds Wow thanks, I really appreciate that! Looking forward to it!
isn't damage the vca to use it as. a saturator ?
No I really don’t think so
@@AiynZahevSounds alright!
Magic!
11:17 -cool moment!!!!!
Do you know if uVCA II can be distorted in the same fashion?
The same method should work but I don't know if it will sound the same. I'd expect so though.
So the Quad VCA's output is connected to the audio interface directly? Or you're using some sort of output module to attenuate eurorack signal to the line level?
Yes it's direct to the interface
Inspiring! About that stereo signal : what female voice sample is playing from 7:45 please? Number station? Been looking for stereo number station samples in good quality for ages... most are in low khz
yo you lost me at Number Station. What do you mean? Anyway the Vocal is Veela from Black Octopus samples.
AiynZahevSounds Thank you! Well, I hear a woman saying numbers (four f.ex) so presumed it was a number stations sample.
Oh I see. That's also from the same Veela pack!
is the sound 7:55 coming from the quad vca?
You mean the modulated sound? Yeah
@@AiynZahevSounds how you've got it? where you plugged the in/outs?
@@sashaatree6535 Ok, so the sound, the voices etc, is coming from my DAW. The Maths is modulating the VCA very fast which creates new tones.
Playing with panorama is totally insane
Great!
Excellent video!! Turns out I wasnt using mine nearly as much as I could. Gonna try this :)
My qVCA never gets used. I need to try and incorporate it more.
do u have other vcas? u can put a vca between every modulation source and play with it
i like using lfos with a envelope
are you originally from Scotland?
great informative vid.
Thanks. No I've never been, but I lived in the south and south west for a long time.
Haha!

@@synaptyx I know, it's really weird.
Does this have enough gain on tap to bring line level sources up to modular level? It seems that way from the video, but I'd appreciate confirmation!
The boost switch alone adds 6dB of gain. If that's not enough you can cascade like I did the video.
