  • Since the pandemic hit in March 2020, cases of domestic violence have surged. In September 2020, Brenda bravely opened up about her own experience, prompted by the Chantelle and Gray EastEnders abuse storyline.
Brenda was then contacted by the Metropolitan Police to help shine a light on how survivors of domestic abuse can get practical help. Today, Brenda investigates exactly what happens when you report domestic abuse to the police, and offers some real hope to other survivors.

What would you suggest for a middle-aged woman, recently badly injured by her abuser, who ran for her life and is in hiding by a friend who doesn't have much, unemployed? How can she get help, when many times she is without money for bus fare or phone credit? Walking home from the police station, especially several times, may expose her.
