- Here is a great Gospel tune from Billy Preston. This is his liver version from 1971 Concert For Bangla Desh. I am certain this is double drumming with both Ringo and Jim Keltner on in. I may be wrong. I ran across this looking for something new to play. I love the tune. This features my new (used) 2oo2 Medium PAiSTe Hi Hats, 5x14 Gene Krupa COB snare drum and some nylon tipped sticks.
Wow, you laid that WAY back! Perfect playing, double time was spectacular!! Thanks for the entertaining post...🎵
Yes, indeed...waay back. Intentional for sure. Thanks for watching, Randy!
Awesome drumming as always Jim. The Paiste 2002 medium hi hats sound great. Here is my Billy story … I provided drums for Billy Preston’s drummer in the early 90s at a club I played at often! Great gospel ending too! It’s like going to church for sure! Have a great week.
Amen, my aeronautical enhanced friend. You soared the skies with this one, Mr. flys2. What a great ending!!!✈️🛫🛬🛩️❤️🙏👏❤️
Really appreciate that, Greg. It was a fun one to do. A bit challenging in that ending to hear everything and do the 2 beat thing!
Very cool Jim! Tempo control a must in this tune for sure, and the ending was spectacular! Drums sound fantastic!! 👍👍👍🥁🥁🥁
Thanks for listening. Yeah. This laid back and moves around a little. So I did my best to learn where it pulls back. Took a while do that ending, but I finally was able too boost the bass in the guide track enough to hear it. Little tricks I am still learning about my DAW. Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated, Bob.
Soulful drumming it is always a pleasure to watch you perform. Very well done my friend! Great stuff at the end with the fills and cut time.
This was tricky to hear it clearly in the mix. But after I cranked that section, I was able to lock in with the recording, which moves around a little. Appreciate the view, bud!
I heard that pullback on the open HH right before the downbeat. Great feel man. WOW! Every fill is so tasty! Great ob, Jim!!!
Yes, the whole group is so in tune with each other. Moving around. Hard to anticipate when not in the moment with the band!
