No there was no snow, but there was a buggie with wheels and a ton of anxious Alaskan Huskies ready to take us for a ride. The best part were the cute Alaskan Husky Puppies!! I have a Samoyed and have had five of them in my life. Considered sled dogs, as well, there are different types. The ones you met are professional athletes, then there are professional show dogs, then there are house pets. Mine have always been house pets, terrific with children, other cats & dogs and loyal companions. I am not an athlete any more and so I walk my dog every day, which she craves, and then she has one day a week at day care where she is a crazy dog! She is five and is the most active dog I have ever had. There she is to the left sunning herself on the deck. her name is Georgia and she is wonderful.

We had a Siberian Husky that we loved and she loved us.
They seem like such a nice breed.
Nothing like seeing a sled dog in action. if only we could harness that energy in our kids. We're Boston Terrier people. The perfect indoor companion in our humble opinion. Now on our third (and best). Sweden was fun but can't wait to see what Finland has in store.
The B Terriers are popular among this community. Love them as well, so cute. Finland is coming soon!!!
There is a guy that lives in my neigh hood who has 3 Alaskan Huskies and he runs them every day and either skateboards or in-line skates with them pulling him & they are also very friendly and beautiful.
They need it from what we could see. Very cool your neighbor understands that.

It really was. The puppies were so adorable.
Working Dog breeds need to be doing their jibs...all dogs have jobs. It all depends on your life style. To be a responsible dog owner you need to know what is best for them. If you live in a city, get a city dog, Farms get get a farm dog...etc. I personally have Jack Russell Terriers and they are cute but pack a punch in a little body and very active at least till 10 years...never slow down. They dig, love to "hunt" and run...this was a very informative and entertaining vlog. Thanks
Thanks for sharing and glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, dog life would not be good in our RV. People do it, but they don't usually have 4 in the RV. But, we are thinking of a cat for the boat! Love JR Terriers, so cute and fun. Sending loads of hugs to New England. I bet it is gorgeous right now.

I know! They wanted to go more, but we were just going in a small circle so not ideal for them.

Huskys need to run a lot... Minimum 100 km a week! Better more! We have a 100 Pound Rhodesian Ridgeback... They also love running... Outdoor they are very activ... But inside they are couch potatos 😂... Until somebody comes to visit... Or to break in ... Then they show they are very protectiv dogs... But with a real pack leader- no problem. They protect the house and their family. But they really need a lot of space in the van 🙈. And they snore 🙈...we can go everywhere with our dog. I think It's possible to travel with every dog... As long as it is well trained. Lovely vlog... Enjoyed it so much! Thank you so much... Love your videos and your trips!

WoW so cool!! i never thought about so much fun with dogs in a Northern country, a little bit confused because i thought Sweden is too cold and all snow around the year but from your trips inside that country was Ok for this time of the year (June and July are summer months). I guess you also missed the northern lights which you can only see at winter.
We did miss them, but just means we need to go back one day.
The gulf stream coming from the Caribbean sea crosses the Atlantic and makes the climate in northern Europe way warmer than similar altitudes in North America. This combined with the fact that the sun stays up much longer the further north you get creates a relatively warm summer all the way up into the far north of Scandinavia.
The arctic circle is actually the border where you start to get perpetual daylight in the summer.
I’m getting sad that you are at 48 and almost done😩. I’m sure you will do great things when this adventure is over and I will follow. I live in California maybe one day you will come this way❤️
I know, us too!!! We know it is time for the next chapter, but hard to let go of this. Change is good, even though we find ourselves mourning already. We love Cali, you may see us there on the boat. We lived in LA for almost a decade.

I think dogs take a lot of commitment. They seem to require much more attention than children--as they need to be walked, fed, bathed, kept healthy--and they depend on their owners their whole life to do these things. I see a lot of people who have large dogs while they're living in small confined places. Dogs need exercise, just like humans do. And they're at the mercy of their owners--it makes me sad to see a dog cooped up in a house all day with just a little short walk--maybe--during the day. Personally, I couldn't have a super energetic dog--I don't own a dog now and not sure if I would have one because of the commitment. It's a huge responsibility!

Sigh.... I know this all seems so cute, but using these people using animals in this way is really speciesist. Animals are here with us not for us.
Even ignoring this obvious huge animal oppression (would you like it?), what happens to sled dogs when they retire and what happens when during a race when they get tired and have to keep going? What happens to the dogs that aren't good enough for racing? Using animals for entertainment is completely unnecessary and breeding dogs when there are millions in shelters is so sad.
I know you loved your experience but please visit shelters and sanctuaries to interact with animals when travelling not places that oppress animals. Thanks for reading.
Oh please! Dogs are pack animals and they have been bred to accept humans as their pack leaders. So it's natural for them to work for humans. So as long as they are treated well there is no problem on using dogs for work like this.
And don't worry. This is Sweden, not some shady 3:rd world country. They have very strict animal protection laws there. These puppies will be treated well.
@@TheUglyGnome Forced breeding of animals is oppression. Selective breeding is oppression (again would you like it?).
There are plenty of instances when sled dogs have been subject to cruelty. I invite you to Google "Whistler sled dog cull" and watch a documentary called Sled Dogs which is talking about CANADA's sled dog industry. I actually know a thing or two about animal protection laws around the world. These laws (even in countries like Sweden) often fall short of properly protecting animals, they are often poorly enforced and the industry often self-regulates. Horse racing, husky racing, greyhound racing..... When thousands of dollars are involved (which is what was said in the video) then exploitation is inevitable. Like I said in my original comment, it doesn't matter if these animals are treated well or not. It's speciesist and it's oppression. PS: Using the word 'shady' to describe '3rd world countries' is pretty problematic.
