Descanso also does an amazing halloween display! Don't miss out on that.
When my in-laws were living, we all went to Mission Inn every year. It was delightful and the meals were delicious. Thank you for bringing those wonderful memories back for me.
Glad you enjoyed it! I love going there as well
i appreciate this. thank you for making it.
Going to go to Christmas Nights at 123 farm near Beaumont for the first time this year. Looks like a pretty cool festival with over 1,000,000 lights, Christmas Village, and Santa's Workshop!
Riverside is ready to go the day after Thanksgiving let's see how the mission inn looks this year 2022 !!!! HAPPY BLESSED HOLIDAYS EVERYONE 🙏🌹❤🍀🌹🙏
Eagle Hills in Brea is a great neighborhood to visit at Christmas. Always amazing how much effort the residents go to and how many of them take part!
I would also add the Brea Eagle Hills neighborhood Christmas Lights. The entire area participates and they have their own parade too!
I will have to visit!
@@californiathroughmylens you will love it. Just plan for heavy traffic and parking on the weekends. It’s very popular
Nice and like it
Thanks to your rave reviews last year, we booked tickets to Descanso Gardens for the week before Christmas! (They were all sold out last year.). We’re very excited and are thinking about actually staying over the night before instead of driving in and doing the LA Zoo lights the night before. Definitely can’t wait for Descanso!
Thank you im in ontario will check out rancho lights
I've been to the event at the LA Zoo. It was super fun and beyond what I was expecting going in. Would love to see the 1st one on your list
Great suggestions Josh!
Thanks Chris, appreciate it!
Sleepy Hollow in the Seaside neighborhood in south Torrance is pretty cool for free, but gets crazy busy with traffic. I want to go to the Arboretum and Descanso as have not seen them. 🎄
The Living Desert “Wild Lights”. A little far from LA, but worth the drive.
That is a great one as well!
Wild Lights is our local display. We went last year for the first time in a while and they’ve really upped their game!
You should also visit Upper Hasting's Ranch located near Pasadena, CA and is a free drive through experience like no other. The second worth checking out is the annual Holiday Road massive light festival located at King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas, CA which is a long (1+ mile?) walk through with tickets starting at $24.99 to $39.99. Both are sensational and worth checking out!
Do you think this year is open the hasting’s ranch
You need to come up to Sam Luis a Obispo county and see Cambria Lights experience And while here see Hearst castle all decorated for the holidays on a tour Nancy Nov 30 2022
El Segundo too!
I will have to check it out!
Dude, you forgot Hastings Ranch! The entire neighborhood is lit up with fun displays. You can drive it or walk. It's free. Has been going on since the sixties. Some homes would serve hot chocolate or cider and cookies for the kids in the past.
My order of them, have done all of the below, but to me the only one we would still go every year is probably Descanso. Visiting people in SD for thanksgiving and we doing a couple there will see how it compares.
1. Descanso - best in class easily, and as they say put your money where your mouth is, taking an early day off work to make the drive there this coming Tuesday, wonder what changed since last year.
2. Living Desert - long drive, probably stay the night would be better
3. LA Arbor - seems to be biggest show, in terms of size but not as unique
4. LA Zoo - not as good as the others on the list
5. South Coast Botanic - just okay, the others are better
6. Sherman Library - less than 20 mins from me but if you are not in the OC, probably not worth it... not worth the drive
7. Harbor boat shows - OC ones, we do the newport one every year, but have occasionally went to the other OC ones all pretty cool
8. Mission Inn - it might be free, but the two times we went there it was not great, we tried the Metrolink special bus and train to the event, utter disaster, not enough time to do it, and the train end up late too, next we drove, finding parking close by was ridiculous expensive and hard
Special call out to Sensorio Paso Robles - not exactly holiday light attractions, think it is year round? Made the drive twice already since 2019, like it so much we going next month again. Though also could be a little biased, got good friends in SLO and who can resist wine tasting? hahaha
Thanks for sharing! I would agree that Descanso is amazing and well worth the price. Let me know how it is this year!
Went to descanso gardens last night and it was cool but definitely wouldn’t call that Christmas lights. Really think this place should get taken off the list cause I feel like it was more for Halloween than anything. Felt more like a fairytale land. Now I have to spend even more money taking the family for Christmas lights cause they were not satisfied with Halloween lights for Christmas.
I thought Descanso was big disappointment and very expensive.
Right? Who wants Halloween for Christmas?
why didnt you say the price? smh
