Isn't poor India one of the countries with a nuclear arsenal, nuclear power, one of the largest militaries, a nuclear aircraft carrier, and a successful space program? It's not about the lack of resources, it's about how you distribute them.
Great Presentation professor. I am studying Mech engineering and I live in Pakistan. My Dream is to create a great company and to give education to my people who can't afford it.
Seriously? Not everybody is bad. Why do people think that's they're bad. They're scared and being oppressed because of some guy who wants to be on top of everyone and btw this comment really proves a good point as well. He commented on this even tho there's crap going on over there. This is one very brave commenter.
Engineers can do it.The avoidable loss owing to frauds in Govt.constructions has reached US $ $ 4 Trillions per year in 2008,according to Transparency Internationals.Introduce an additional Technical Audit suggested by GOPAC in 2015.Salvage this avoidable loss of US $ 4 Trillions per year.Approx. equal to US $ 1.50 per day per person of the entire world population of 7 Billions.
But how can you have the rich and middle class if there was not poor people out there, desperate for work and willing to accept any job, under any condition, in order to support themselves (eg. 10 hour day factory work)
Very insightful ... yes I have seen women and young children spending so much time carrying water ... surely even some black poly irrigation hose could do wonders ... I've seen the a BP run poly factory in Indonesia ... but where is the cheap hose for all ? ... A good look at politics could provide the reasons for our failures to provide basic needs ...
This guy nails it! Main reason why I'm studying Engineering is too help this people who don't even have clean drinking water!!!
Jordan Gartner OMG same, I'm currently in highschool but I want to help people in my future, this is really inspiring to me.

One of the Most Inspirational and Touching TED talks EVER... Thank You.
THIS SHORT CLIP DESERVED MORE VIEWS! ESPECIALLY THE YOUNGSTERS
this needs a hell lot more views, specially from Engineers, politicians, etc.
We probably need a lot more engineers to become politicians.
Great Presentation professor.

He didn't mention what those practical skills are!!?
This is very eye opening!!!!
Rich people will never allow to end poverty.
Interesting talk. Well done!
underrated.
Not engineers, not engineering. Established Technologies, and design and implementation involving technologists and technicians.
Great talk.
Just look at how many engineering graduates actually make a career out of engineering. This tells you a lot about how difficult engineering can be.
He is chiefly referring to mechanical and civil engineers....

*Can we take a moment to talk about his verbal fluency in English* 🙌🏼
Momma said I gotta work
this guy is great! but I just thought He low key looked high as fuck the whole time. I mean just look at those eyes.
We engineers enjoy the occasional toke
his energy level is much greater than boring professors of indian engineering institutes.
Volume control
So what's the skill that make SOuth Asian engineers earn that much?
THe poorvety is only due to the richer who stole the poorer ....
You will only make the richer more rich and the poorer more poor ....
Elaina i love you
Hmm Diss Armed - thats funny joke (l).
I dont feel like helping poor people.
And one day when you become poor you regret why you said this
Big difference between now helping poor people and people who dont have anything because of the places they grow up.
