Interview with Etoile Léonore Baulac

Ballet maintes fois transmis, adapté, interprété, l’intemporel Giselle est de nouveau à l’affiche au Palais Garnier. En studio, la Danseuse Étoile Léonore Baulac découvre ce rôle mythique dont elle a souvent rêvé. Sous le regard éclairé et les conseils avisés d’une autre Étoile, Elisabeth Maurin, elle décompose chaque pas pour mieux s’approprier le personnage. Et de cette transmission orale précieuse naît une nouvelle interprétation : bien que les pas soient toujours les mêmes, chaque danseuse est une Giselle unique et singulière.
A ballet taught so many times, as well as performed and adapted, Giselle is once again on the bill at the Palais Garnier. Léonore Baulac, Etoile dancer of the Paris Opera, is learning how to interpret this legendary role she’s long been dreaming of. Thanks to the experience and advice of another Etoile, Elisabeth Maurin, she fully lives every single step to better slip into her character. From a precious oral transmission, a new interpretation is born. The steps remain the same, but each ballerina becomes her own Giselle.

Everyone knows that she doesn’t deserve her title.
