Really for beginners into Tekken shouldn’t worry to much bout combos first get to know the game and feel play around till you settle on someone learn their fast moves that can punish and power crush moves then start learning some combos and more complicated techs, there’s so much to learn in this game and a lot will come with just playing the game, so take it slow and have fun

Seeing you evolve from wanting to throw haymakers all day to spacing to studying your opponent as to how he plays and THEN reacting was a treat to watch. With tekken it’s a steep upward climb but as you get better you’ll feel amazing with how far you’ve come.
Some tips: learn some easy combos for steve for starters, learn sidestepping (very important), learn punishment, learn to break throws using 1 or 2 or 1+2, learn the new heat system, employ rage arts when you have 10 percent health. The list goes on for the things to learn but you’ll eventually pick these up yourself along the way.
And most importantly, have fun. Good luck :D

if you dont know much about tekken trying to play steve is gonna be hard af. the character is based around counter hits and punishes both of which need a lot of frame knowledge and game data. not impossible but just really hard as he doesnt play like any of the other cast. paul or jin would be your unga bunga big hitters, claudios got a little swag and easy to pick up, king and dragunov are good grapplers also a little harder to play.

It depends on what he wants out of the game. MK players don’t understand the type of fighting game Tekken is. Its really for older people, based on how much of a knowledge check, execution challenge and critical thinking challenge this game is.
However, if he plans to even get to, and most importantly stay at a good level, He’s gonna have to drill, lab and study, on top of learning the frame data.
I’ve been playing since Tekken 5. It can take years to get to the high level knowledge and understanding of all the game’s mechanics.

Hope in the next one you'll learn your throw breaks, sidesteps, rage and heat basics. There are so many things that make this game easier than previous tekkens yet it's painful seeing you using none of those. Like my dude, heat engage/smash is literally 1 button that does "my turn to punch now".
Either way, I really liked how you just go hard all in with zero knowledge. Mad respect for that. My only complaint is that video doesn't feel like 60fps which makes it not as enjoyable as it could've been.

@@PavelSikun I like how accessible Tekken has become thanks to these changes. It just isn’t fun to use what pros call ‘skill’ because they rely on hook or crook to win rather than having fun. Some find winning fun but so do hackers that get nothing from climbing the ranks.
Movement is less restricted. There is easy tutorials via Arcade Quest, and much more to use to ease yourself into the game rhythm. With Special Style being easy insight in exactly what you’re incentivised to do.

one thing. NEVER think of the rage art as a sure winner, cause you will have a disgusting surprise. rage art is blockable by actual players and not by bots. you can use it against the other guy when his character is in the middle of an animation or to end a combo, DON'T use it indiscriminately cause you will be inmediately countered. tekken is about predicting what the other guy will do.
also being on rage mode continuously is better than using rage art since your attacks make more damage when in that mode

That Vegeta fit is cold😮‍💨 , if u keep playing you’ll gradually learn the movement, character punishes heat smash and heat burst and start using rage art to punish when ur low on health. keep it up

To go back u can double tap the back button and u will back dash ( for further information about back dashing I highly recommend seeing a video from core-a Gaming about Korean back dash (KBD) but that is super advanced tech so spamming the back button is enough)

Would be a fun challenge to try how high you can climb with X character using assist mode. Requires god like movement skills to get anywhere with that

french dude here, pretty average player on t8, actualy was thinking about learning steve, if you need somebasic advice to understand fundamentals of tekken, hit me up, i'd be more than glad to help if you tryna get into it and get a better understanding of the thingy thingies. i don't play steve tho, but i do know from my casual purple rank that you wanna know what gives you advantage frame to fish with back square (back 1) a counter hit for a combo, with this simple thing, like, begginers hit after a guarded string, they mash, yo go lab, you put block on the manekin, and you search the move that say +on block, you hit those in guard, and you go for a b1, free launch xD

It was probably a good thing they made Steve british, otherwise he would have 50% pickrate for being so sick. Much more balanced roster this way

Nah that win with Kazuya vegeta was epic. It shows how weak is special style compared to actually understanding the game. Even some fresh bastard could own mighty Kazuya loser with one string XD

I'd feel bad if I was that Shaheen player lol, he knew how to use heat and finisher and grapple mechanics and he still lost to a guy blocking and punching lmao. He had like 5 mechanics on you and still got bodied, well done for not using auto moves vs him.
