Really for beginners into Tekken shouldn’t worry to much bout combos first get to know the game and feel play around till you settle on someone learn their fast moves that can punish and power crush moves then start learning some combos and more complicated techs, there’s so much to learn in this game and a lot will come with just playing the game, so take it slow and have fun
To avoid things like Devil Jin's laser, don't forget that you are not playing a 2D game but a 3D one. Side steps can save your life in this game! It's cool to see new players like you :D
That's kind of funny. I had a Devil Jin launch me and fling me over to the other side of the stage, then just sit there spamming the laser until I caught back upto him. It was a player match too, so the whole lobby was watching.

If they know what they’re doing fundamentally and know your character they can cause problems, directional inputs on lows will change moves too. The scrubs you’re talking about that are just spamming the air combo button or power crush will quit in a couple more weeks if they havent already
@@Zachebithe special style shouldn’t be in ranked or at least not in any rank over blue. I was punishing those players until I didn’t see them at a certain rank. The spamming L1 to turn on and off when beating them is actually great!! Never thought about that. I hated accidentally hitting L1 and turning it on for a second so I changed L1 to 1+2+3+4 to charge.
You did well picking up a few wins with pure instincts alone. Just need to rely more on using your throws, rage meter, and rage arts in your matches. Trust us when we say, training mode/combo challenges is your best friend.
MK is a different game the timing and skills are completely different, much respect diving in the bloody waters with those sharks. Online tekken online is brutal

Serious players\veterans\competitors need the PC platform for more frame-precise gameplay. Casual players don’t, because they don’t usually employ frame mechanics when they play - casual players don’t usually delve into the game’s mechanics like that. However, this is exactly what makes them scrubbier.

It's weird because when I was a kid I used to try not to do that in vs because it didn't seem fair. Then you go online or watch the pros do it, and it turns out that's just how the game works.

Seeing you evolve from wanting to throw haymakers all day to spacing to studying your opponent as to how he plays and THEN reacting was a treat to watch. With tekken it’s a steep upward climb but as you get better you’ll feel amazing with how far you’ve come. Some tips: learn some easy combos for steve for starters, learn sidestepping (very important), learn punishment, learn to break throws using 1 or 2 or 1+2, learn the new heat system, employ rage arts when you have 10 percent health. The list goes on for the things to learn but you’ll eventually pick these up yourself along the way. And most importantly, have fun. Good luck :D

if you dont know much about tekken trying to play steve is gonna be hard af. the character is based around counter hits and punishes both of which need a lot of frame knowledge and game data. not impossible but just really hard as he doesnt play like any of the other cast. paul or jin would be your unga bunga big hitters, claudios got a little swag and easy to pick up, king and dragunov are good grapplers also a little harder to play.
It depends on what he wants out of the game. MK players don’t understand the type of fighting game Tekken is. Its really for older people, based on how much of a knowledge check, execution challenge and critical thinking challenge this game is. However, if he plans to even get to, and most importantly stay at a good level, He’s gonna have to drill, lab and study, on top of learning the frame data. I’ve been playing since Tekken 5. It can take years to get to the high level knowledge and understanding of all the game’s mechanics.
The switch to 3D fighters are never easy. Especially with Tekken and the extensive move list. Steve is such a hard character to use despite being a best pick for casuals playing with friends.

This is a perfect example of what it feels like to play Tekken first time, Finding your character, Loving them, Customising them and then learning more about them. Like my dude, heat engage/smash is literally 1 button that does "my turn to punch now". Either way, I really liked how you just go hard all in with zero knowledge. Mad respect for that. My only complaint is that video doesn't feel like 60fps which makes it not as enjoyable as it could've been.

Some find winning fun but so do hackers that get nothing from climbing the ranks. Movement is less restricted. There is easy tutorials via Arcade Quest, and much more to use to ease yourself into the game rhythm. With Special Style being easy insight in exactly what you’re incentivised to do.
You need to add low pokes and armored moves to your play style man, maybe even some grabs. Also, learn how to break grabs, you can also duck to evade grabs

one thing. NEVER think of the rage art as a sure winner, cause you will have a disgusting surprise. rage art is blockable by actual players and not by bots. you can use it against the other guy when his character is in the middle of an animation or to end a combo, DON'T use it indiscriminately cause you will be inmediately countered. tekken is about predicting what the other guy will do. also being on rage mode continuously is better than using rage art since your attacks make more damage when in that mode

First time seeing your channel as probably many others here, just want to say this was a very enjoyable video to watch. Only downside is it wasn't 60fps which made our experience suffer a bit. If that could be adjusted, great, besides that: LOVE SEEING IT HAPPEN ! I'm pretty new and have picked up so much in 3 weeks yet so little in grand scheme, its kinda crazy actually when you get to your first 100+ damage combo within first weeks and you're like:"who am i right now?" lol but yeah spend time in training mode and in character specific discords. People teach you the good shit that connects for most damage and of course tutorials on youtube. I'm gonna subscribe for the tekken content and check out what else ya got. Ive been an NRS player since Injustice gods among us and I can say Tekken 8 is crushingly difficult but extremely rewarding and Fun! It isn’t my first foray in Tekken since I did play during the old arcade times but never put in the time. I love this game and it feels amazing putting in the effort to learn its mechanics

That Vegeta fit is cold😮💨 , if u keep playing you’ll gradually learn the movement, character punishes heat smash and heat burst and start using rage art to punish when ur low on health. keep it up
To go back u can double tap the back button and u will back dash ( for further information about back dashing I highly recommend seeing a video from core-a Gaming about Korean back dash (KBD) but that is super advanced tech so spamming the back button is enough)

Playing through arcade quest will get you into a competitive state. It did for me. That mode is highly recommended from one Tekken noob to another.

That Vegeta fit is cold😮💨 , if u keep playing you’ll gradually learn the movement, character punishes heat smash and heat burst and start using rage art to punish when ur low on health. keep it up
To go back u can double tap the back button and u will back dash ( for further information about back dashing I highly recommend seeing a video from core-a Gaming about Korean back dash (KBD) but that is super advanced tech so spamming the back button is enough)

french dude here, pretty average player on t8, actualy was thinking about learning steve, if you need somebasic advice to understand fundamentals of tekken, hit me up, i'd be more than glad to help if you tryna get into it and get a better understanding of the thingy thingies. i don't play steve tho, but i do know from my casual purple rank that you wanna know what gives you advantage frame to fish with back square (back 1) a counter hit for a combo, with this simple thing, like, begginers hit after a guarded string, they mash, yo go lab, you put block on the manekin, and you search the move that say +on block, you hit those in guard, and you go for a b1, free launch xD
