Hey Dave! I just picked up that Recip saw as a BOGO, with the 99.00 Case Stack deal! Recip saw is a very solid and competent tool. Looking forward to your take/ test on it! I did a quick preliminary test by using a diablo pruning blade and cut up a big branch that came down during a recent storm. Too small of scope to break out one of my chainsaws. Pruning is a good test of a recip saw too. Happy New Years!

That's awesome! I'll be trying it out soon. I'm going to do an unboxing and test video after the holiday.
TBH, I don't own any other Kobalt power tools, and didn't really want to get into yet another platform. I was looking at the Dewalt DCS382 because it's available with a hack and I already have Dewalt batteries and chargers.
The Kobalt has an adjustable shoe and a rafter hook, though, and the Dewalt doesn't. It's not a big deal to me, but it is kinda nice to have.
Since I'm just a DIYer, it doesn't really matter how many platforms I have anyway, as long as I have the batteries and chargers for each one. In fact, I think multiple platforms is the best way to get budget friendly DIY tools. I'm actually planning on doing a video that explains that this next year sometime.

@@DiligentDave1966 Hey again Dave. Have You checked out the great deal on the drill/ driver kit, as well as the impact driver kits?
I picked up the drill/ driver kit, mainly for the battery and the 85 watt charger, which is a good balance between decent charge times, and not overheating the battery.
At first, I didn’t take to the drill, but after using it for awhile, it has grown on me. Maybe I got lucky, but the drivetrain is very smooth in High, and that Jacobs chuck has zero/ minimal runout!
I hear ya on having multiple platforms, but I go with the best tool for the job. I now own just about everything but Festool 🙄 💵 Harbor Freight lines, and FLUX. 😆

@ I’m going to be honest, I also posted a video about my OCD.
I’m a little addicted to buying drills and impact drivers. I have returned pretty much everything I don’t need, though.
The main reason I have been keeping my eye out for a clearance on the DCD999/DCF887 combo is that I really like the 999, and I’d love to try out the 887.
Several channels have talked bad about the 887, and even gotten it to smoke, but I have heard several professionals swear by it as a great impact driver.
I have also been looking at the 12v Skil sales lol.
I rarely use circular saws because I’m not very good with them, but I really should practice more because they are very useful.

Yeah, that's probably the only downside. They also don't have the button for quick socket release, but I'm okay with that. I do like the round handle, though. I can't tell you how many times I have had to put some force behind a ratchet, and the square Craftsman handles became uncomfortable very quickly.
As I said in the video, these are more of a backup for me than anything else.
I was in the middle of doing some work on my car, one time, and my ratchet failed in the middle of the job. I had to jump in my other car and exchange the ratchet just to finish the job. Besides, I've heard good things about the V series. They're not made in America, but America doesn't make hardly any hand tools anymore.
