Dave, I used to be non confrontational and then I said to myself “I was bullied as a kid, I ain’t getting bullied or talked sh*t of as an adult” I would have tore her a new one up and down. I see these kinds of vendors at my flea market and they just don’t get any sales from me, even if they have something that looks good. I don’t know why some of these people sell , I can’t see them making much money and it’s probably why they are bitter back passages aka a holes!

They should have kept the comment to themselves and not in front of the customer. To be honest though, she is not incorrect. NC Picker is hoping people are not knowledgeable on what they have so he can make a come up of these people's ignorance. Completely wrong way to air their grievances in front of the customer as well as poor choice of words!

What always boils my temper is when they say “she just wants to make money” or “she just wants to show a profit”. Ummm isn’t that the goal of everyone and every business???

I think they are saying they want to sell their things to people who can not afford to buy it new. They assume they are helping someone out with the cheap handy downs rather than providing a business with goods to resell. It’s just their perspective.
When they pull that stuff with me I actually tell them “I guess you would rather pack it back up and take it home.”
Maybe not everyone is selling for people to resell.
@@gottogoalltheway In my opinion, for both sellers and companies, what a customer does once the product is in their possession should no longer be of the seller's concern. Whether the consumer gifts it, resells it or keeps it, or whatevers it, it is their property to do with as they please. If someone is going to be picky about what a customer is going to do with a product after it is purchased then maybe they shouldn't be selling.

I used to buy CD’s from this guy at his store till I found out he had a machine that sealed them to sell as new. Beware. 😩

The thing about those people is they are resellers themselves and they want as cheap a price as they can get also. I'm sure when they go source items they ask, "What's the best you can do on that?" or something like that.

It's a flea market, you asked in the most polite way I have ever seen anyone ask for a little off.

OMG I do the same. I go home and 5 hours later I'm thinking of come backs just in case it happens to me again lol. I always think it's ok to ask, the worse that can happen is someone say no. People don't need to get offended, just say no thank you.

As a seller at flea markets, I price everything to detract resellers. I even throw out a close to eBay price to get rid of them... but to the average Joe, I give'em a huge discount.

I have had so many mean people lately at thrift stores and estate sales! The employees! Like they hate resellers and making my shopping horrible while I'm spending 100.00s. I'm done! I have to cut out so any business! Rude people

You should have grabbed that old RAcing Binder with all the newspaper clippings, those were vintage old racing newspaper racing stories by a serious collector some of it looked like 40s 50s 60s, probably pure gold in there
You handled that the best way.. maybe not the most satisfying but best just the same.

You should have told her “what you don’t expect a counter offer?” And than pointed at her and laughed. They get the insult right away! You are too nice. Also just remember her and NEVER buy anything from them again. They see who spends money and who doesn’t. Good luck!
That’s a common expression. You could see if there is something else to combine with it.
But what you don’t understand is the people at the flea market are resellers also and they’re trying to survive too you have a lot less overhead and are almost guaranteed to make money on everything you buy they don’t always profit
Makes me so mad when people are like her, of course people want to make money, its what pays taxes and bills. In todays economic climate we all try to save and do what we can. You expect people to haggle at these type of sales, if they're vendors i bet they haggled for the stock, if they didn't more fool them. You by far were the better person, respectful and openly made your point, well done Sir.

i went to a flea market on sunday and there was a guy there with a stall and everything was £1 each ! i bought a record player and an old radio plus loads of ps2 games !! £1 each amazing

Sealed doesn't mean new, my cousin worked for a video store and they had a machine that would reseal them...

Nothing wrong with asking for it for a cheaper price. It's that persons item and they have that choice to consider a lower price or not. I'm a re-seller and I can't hate other re-sellers, they are just tying to make a few bucks!

....and I'm not taking sides about the lady and such but it could be she just had enough of the buyers that day. I know I get frustrated at buyers some days when they offer you $2 for something you paid $15 for and that happens 10-12 times in a afternoon. Its hot sometimes. Some days you don't even make your spot fee back if things go bad. So maybe she had a bad day. All in all, you handled that as a true picker should. Happy hunting.

Now you're going to have those vendors in your head when you go back. It's like if you get sucker punched and you don't escalate. It can stick in your mind for weeks, even years that you should of done this or that in that situation.
If I was petty, I’d probably go back to the next one and just look at all the stuff she has for sale and say to myself stuff like that’s a really cool piece, I sure could use one of these and then casually just walk away.

If that was me I would ask the nosey lady "Are you gonna give him $10 for it?" There's absolutely nothing wrong with asking a seller if they'll take less. Breaking someone's balls who respectfully says no isn't cool. Neither is taking smack about someone when they're standing right there especially when you weren't out of line in any way shape or form. He'll have Billy for a while until he realizes he can't get 10 for it and should've negotiated on it
I would have done the same as you, or even ignored it. They are just trying to make some money too. Somewhere in between resellers online and resellers at a flea market can be a satisfying transaction for both, but it's not always possible.
But they are resellers, almost everyone at flea markets is a reseller. They also look for good deals to make money. 😊
