This remake of a 1973 movie is awesome, I have it on DVD. In fact it could well have inspired "2012" which came years later, lots of similarities with the FX scenes. Very well shot and written, and acting good too. Characters you actually care about and very thought provoking. I like SINKING OF JAPAN better than 2012 I must say.
It isn't better than the American earthquake movie from the same year; the one with Charlton Heston. (I think it was 1974, and I wasn't much impressed.) Even the title "Sinking of'Japan' is exaggerated. Also; you can't compare the Japan movie with the digital effects in '2012'. I watched this series yesterday and ended the series last night. I was already upset over something personal. I cried so many times through this series. I liked the media lady and the main guy. The fact they ended up together made me happy; could have been a little more interaction between them. Seeing the hope and desperation was emotional. Seeing the 'after' look of skyscrapers in the water was unreal. --- The part that made me cry the most was when the mother was making the beds on the floor and talking to her son. One more night of adult children, 'being a child again', would be wonderful. -- This series just shows how EVERY country in the world is full of greedy people in high places; makes me sick. However, even in their individual greed, their allegiance remained to their country/culture/people. That was refreshing.
Yup. It's a movie entitled Sinking of Japan. It's really an awesome disaster movie. The missiles that you see are actually lava rocks that were spewed by the volcano while erupting.
I don't know how I got here, but I wish I hadn't. Japan has enough real life earthquakes, tsunamis, eruptions, and other natural disasters. It just made me do a flasback to seeing the 2011 tsunami.
