  • This is a video of disaster scenes from the 2006 movie Sinking Of Japan (Nihon Chinbotsu). It includes volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and earthquakes. I edited all the disaster parts for your pleasure. And to clear things up, yes this is a DVDrip, it is in Japanese but there ARE english subtitles. Here are the subtitles:
    00.01 - Daisetsuzan Range, Hokkaido
    00.22 - Mts Tokachi & Furano erupt
    00.48 - City of Kumamoto
    01.05 - Hakodate
    01.57 - D1 reports... ..multi-centered earthquakes in Shizuoka, Nagano and Niigata!
    02.04 - Magnitude 7....7.4...still rising!
    02.06 - Tokyo, scale 6!
    02.11 - It's coming!
    (And it's kinda obvious that the earthquake scene is Tokyo.)

    Wow, I have to say, they did an amazing job with the computer animation on this. Its actually believable. I thought they did a great job of incorporating the on the ground aspect as well from a birds eye view of the devastation and trauma. Many movies just do the on the ground aspect which is VERY poorly done, and doesn't capture the raw power of earths rage. We are at the mercy of our planet.

    This remake of a 1973 movie is awesome, I have it on DVD. In fact it could well have inspired "2012" which came years later, lots of similarities with the FX scenes. Very well shot and written, and acting good too. Characters you actually care about and very thought provoking. I like SINKING OF JAPAN better than 2012 I must say.

    It says on the description, the one that hit Tokyo was a 6.5 magnitude, which is actually pretty weak for the Japanese in 2017 considering the fact that the Great Tohoku earthquake in 2011 was a 9.0 and the Great Kanto Earthquake that struck in 1923 was an 8.0

    • @Orangecatenergy
      @Orangecatenergy 2 роки тому +1

      I experienced a 6.7 earthquake in Turkey and slept Through it. The following tremors were about a 5 and still quite strong but you didn't feel it if you were standing up. Luckily there were very few victims, only one or two I think, and almaot no buildings were collapsed. So you're right, a 6.5 isn't actually that bad - depends on how well the buildings are prepared for tremors tho

    I watched this series yesterday and ended the series last night. I was already upset over something personal. I cried so many times through this series. I liked the media lady and the main guy. The fact they ended up together made me happy; could have been a little more interaction between them. Seeing the hope and desperation was emotional. Seeing the 'after' look of skyscrapers in the water was unreal. --- The part that made me cry the most was when the mother was making the beds on the floor and talking to her son. One more night of adult children, 'being a child again', would be wonderful. -- This series just shows how EVERY country in the world is full of greedy people in high places; makes me sick. However, even in their individual greed, their allegiance remained to their country/culture/people. That was refreshing.

    Tokyo has loose soil. The shoreline has been extended, almost continually, over the past 300 years, with fill dredged up from the sea floor, and as a result, much of the city sits on reclaimed land. I remember seeing a program where some expert was saying that if there were an earthquake in Tokyo, the ground would liquefy.

    What's creepy is the real tidal waves that hit Japan didn't at all look like this but instead looked like the flood scenes from the 1960's and 1970's Japanese Flood movies where they built a model town inside of a giant flood tank and flood it by opening up flood tanks next to and flood out the movie set that way. These computer walls of water didn't at all happen during the real thing.

    • @Moose6340
      @Moose6340 Рік тому

      Yeah, it's weird...the tsunami from the Tohoku quake weren't these 100-meter walls of water all the disaster movies show. The sea just kept on rising and WOULD. NOT. STOP. And the water was black and cold and full of debris and mud. Honestly the videos from places like Kesennuma are scarier than even this.

      The way I like to interpret this movie is Hirohito's karma for ww2 and Japan sank into the ocean avenging the countries it formerly colonized. Japan is now gone as the ocean will forever be it's tomb and Hirohito is no longer royal and is forced to watch other monarchs such queen Elizabeth ii rule their still existing countries. So in conclusion karma will happen so always be nice. Just my interpretation.

    incredible on-the-ground perspective of earthquake and tsunami. I know this is simulated and was done prior to Japan's recent disaster but it looks like they knew it was coming. watch...

    @TheNinjanordundor An earthquake of magnitude 15+ wouldn't leave anyone or anything standing, and would definitely affect the China mainland (which you would deny being affected in your response to me) as well as a number of countries in the region. A magnitude 10 earthquake leaves total devastation. The 2011 Japan earthquake measured 9. A 15 is unthinkable.
