Just made the best purchase I’ve made in a long time. I came into a 97’ TJ after watching it sit and decay for two years. Contacted the owner 3 times over 2 year and he finally caved! He sold it to me for $750! I threw a new battery in it, aired up the tires and drove that thing home. It had the death wobble but I got that corrected right away... needless to say, I saved it from the crusher. It need some love but it’s gonna get plenty from me. I’ve wanted a wrangler since I was 16, I’m now 43 and I’ve finally got me one! I live in Michigan and I’m a subscriber.. great channel, keep the vids coming. I need to learn how to do what you are doing to your TJ
Hey Steve, hope you had a great Christmas! Glad to see you are getting some sponsors support on the channel and growing the channel. 2000 fans ain’t nothing yet. Wait till you hit over 100k. Looking forward to see what you have for us in 2021. I’m here in CA and drive a 2013 JK. (One of the FB shout outs in an older video)
K C, I am leaving this on all comments that fail to mention their subscription status. This is just so no one can say I didn't follow the rules. ( Some comments are missing contest info. Are you a Subscriber?)
Hello! I’ve actually got 2 jeeps. My daily is a 2017 JKU. I’m currently in the process of restoring a 1998 TJ SE. I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a little while now and use your videos to help me with my rebuild. I’ll also be adding AC and the delay wiper mod like you did. I’m from Massachusetts. Keep up the great videos!
I’m in Maryland. Yes I’m a subscriber. I have a 77 Cj-5. I have a 304 amc. I just had the same problem so I had to change my header gaskets. She sounds great now. Oh yeah my jeep is all rino lined in and out and my rims are white. I’m gonna do the same as you and paint them black
Great video! I've got exhaust manifold coming up quick on the checklist for TDSR (my 2 door '97 TJ). The views in this video are really clear and will help quite a bit. Thankfully I shouldn't have to worry about cold weather when I tackle this next month, being in Texas and all.
He Ed, Just going through the contest comments. I am leaving this on all comments that fail to mention their subscription status for the drawing(Contest participators will look at the winner's comment to see if I followed my own rules). This is just so no one can say I didn't follow the rules. (Some comments are missing contest info. Are you a Subscriber?) I know the answer already but have to ask for the contest. Thanks Ed
Another great video. I need to work up the courage to change my own exhaust manifold and head gasket on mine. I hate the sound and smell of the exhaust leak. Subscribed, 98 TJ, in Missouri.
I'm so used to those chinese iron things cracking that I'm surprised that you just assumed it was the gasket and loose bolt and not a hidden crack on the head side. As I recall, I don't even think my original had a gasket.
Yeah, I know right! I did take the manifold off(didn't show it) and flatten it with a belt sander. It was a little warped. Been going strong for over 2 years now. Thanks for watching!
Hello Force Built I have a Jeep TJ 2000 2.5 L. I live in the Northeast (Maine) and would really love that cover to help protect my soft top from snow and ice. Love the videos, very well presented and enjoy your explanations. Keep up the great work. Subscribed awhile ago.
1997 TJ,Subscribed the first video you did on JJ. West Tn just north of you. You should not have any issues with the timing chain. Now I will let you do the 2015 Ram 3.6 for me. That is a different story. It has I think 4 total.

So you failed to mention what make your original blown manifold gasket was. You fitted a Felpro good reputation brand hope this has performed well with no issues
@@ForceBuilt That's good news for me as l have fitted a Felpro on my 2.5 1995 YJ. Good info on which way to fit the Felpro gasket, should be marked on gasket in my opinion
Really enjoy all your videos. I subscribed a few months ago when I found your channel. I recently purchased a 2003 Jeep tj and I live in Alabama. What part of Mississippi do you leave in.
Congratulations Wesley! You won the Car Cover! Email your mailing address to futuraforce@gmail.com. You have one week to respond before another drawing takes place. Thanks!
I’ve been meaning to start this project on my TJ as well. But I’m missing two of the bolts / studs that hold the exhaust manifold on. Any ideas where to get replacements? Can’t seem to find anything at auto parts stores or rock auto.
So you need the 2 studs on each end. I would get this kit just for the studs I I were in a bind. Here is what I have found. shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/dorman-help-exhaust-manifold-hardware-kit-03408b/10422262-p?c3ch=PLA&c3nid=10422262-P&adtype=pla_with_promotion&product_channel=online&store_code=&gclid=Cj0KCQiA0MD_BRCTARIsADXoopaFFn504RU5f5Gj0AvBhZar2NCpcnwf1tTgs_MpvZyIhg_yXeSLo8waAjQQEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Thanks!
Hello Steve, I have a 00’ TJ with a 2.5 and we have talked before about my intake leak. My manifold bolts were loose so I was getting the head cleaned up and chased all the threads in the head and just realized the dowel pins were missing. How important are they for keeping everything located and tight you think. Have not been able to find any online hopefully they are available from the dealer. Thanks for any suggestions
I think they are only there to help you get everything put together. Like to keep the gasket in place while installing manifold and intake. If you get it assembled then no dowels needed. Just make sure everything is good and tight. Hope this helped!
Hi my name is Johnny I live in Hortense Ga. I finally got a 97 tj I've wanted one for many years. I'm getting ready to change my manifold. But I would use it to cover it. Starting to peel my clear coat.
I just bought a cheap one off Ebay($46). This was early on and I didn't make a video of it. Worked well until I had a bolt vibrate out in the center location. When that happened the manifold warped from heat escaping, making it leak even when I installed a new gasket. I took the manifold off and sanded it flat on a belt sander(To remove the warp) and it has been perfect ever since! I really wish I had made a video of that process but I needed to get it done and it was getting dark. Hope this answers your question. Thanks!
I don't know why that would be happening. When Taking apart and putting together you have to mess with the throttle linkage. I bet you have something installed wrong. Check it closely. Send pics to my email if you don't get it figured out. futuraforce@gmail.com
