@@fatimaviegas2317 Lenten spirit is penitential, sorrowful and mournful. It's not joyful, use of instruments is also minimal. Please check the Ordo (liturgical calendar) for instructions for Lenten season on the use of musical instruments. When Our Lord was undergoing his most sorrowful passion it was extremely painful. Accordingly the music that accompanies such a scene should be sober and solemn. Traditional Goan motets have always maintained this character. I don't have to do any performance, go to any church (those faithful to tradition) in Goa during the Holy week and you'll understand.
The church before Vatican 2 understood Our Lord's Passion quite literally. Post Vatican 2 anything seems okay, it's does not matter whether Our Lord accepts it or not as long as we're happy.
