Mine is still there. Seems to be the heavy rubber thing conforms pretty well to the unibody and there's just barely any space. I took apart the white cover of the resistor and one of the solder joints is a dark gray but no way am I going to just reheat the joint and expect all is well....
20:50 i had to do the PCV valve in the dead of winter 200 miles from home 😂 definitely the worst thing I've ever had to do on a car so far. This'll probably be a dream in comparison when i do mine soon! Especially with the tutorial on hand!
Super nice video fam! Love FCPEuro for parts and my 04 xc90 blower motor screams on lower fan settings, so glad i can get not only a replacement but a good idea of what trouble I'll go through for quieter ac 😂
Great video. I would be real nervous to reassemble everything without checking if the blower still works. Imagine you had to deassemble cause the blower did not work! So much time lost.
It actually wasn’t that hard. I did it on my mom’s 2011 xc90 before this video was posted. I’m an “intermediate” level mechanic with it comes to stuff like this lol.
Having 2 problem I bought a wells resisistor and I put all back and now no even the blower works and I lost one screw from AC blower , do you in fcp euro salw does silver torx screw, and also couldbe that the new replacement could be defective?
I mean... you have a step by step tutorial right here to do it yourself! Just did mine, I've got an 04 but still a p2, took about... 3.5hrs? Mostly due to more caution since my plastics are 20 years old 😂
Need some guidance please-1) my fan speed dial has a few set points where it fluctuates the fan speed periodically. 2) when my ac is working hard to blow air at highest speed, it has a strong vibration sound and the airflow is not very good for highest fan speed. Cabin air filter regularly changed. Wondering if for sure these are the two components in this video that I need to replace-07 XC90. TIA!
Great Video Mike, just replaced both motor & resistor in my Wifes 2010 XC 90, it was definitely the problem as nothing worked at all, but with the fan on high the airflow doesn't seem to be there, any thoughts?
@@fcpeuro thanks Mike, I did replace the filter, it like there's an obstruction somewhere, took out the dash vents to check it's a bit of a mystery, not sure if there is any reset required?
@@Marco-ys2gx Hard to tell 100% without actually seeing it, but our ‘06 XC90 did almost the same thing that you describe, (2nd highest and highest fan setting essentially seemed to function at the same speed, or more to the point, the speed doesn’t change at all between the two). Ours almost sounded like a partial restriction as you mentioned. The issue is often related to a defective or broken solder/connection inside the CCM (climate control module), which is basically the entire set of control knobs/buttons for the HVAC system. The solder needs to be reflowed/reworked to bring back the various lost speed(s) and sometimes even certain control abilities. Half the time, an issue is actually 2-3 other issues in one and replacing a part or several parts only brings back partial functionality. We also had reduced air output and also replaced the motor and resistor, but still didn’t get back full output. The way that you can tell (90% of the time), that it is the CCM/control knob, is when you switch between the 2 highest settings and you cannot hear or feel any difference in output. Technically, a bad resistor can also cause this, but if a new resistor is installed and it still doesn’t fully function, removal and repair of the CCM is the only way to fully fix it. If you did indeed have an actual obstruction, and not an electrical defect, switching between various fan speed settings would yield an audibly detectable change in sound pitch, (regardless of actual air output). Hi Marco, if you have not already, check out that cabin filter and make sure it is not clogged up!

You could certainly test the blower once its plugged in to the vehicle before fitting it back into the HVAC housing it lives in!
