I’m literally only in sixth grade and since I love planning out my future I decided I wanted to go to CIA so I’ve just been watching these videos 😂 your honestly making it sound so fun
I'm in 6th grade also I'm doing the same thing you are and I thought I was the only one :-D
Y'all Get it!
you should be in like in like 8th or 9th grade by now, if you really want to get started in CIA when you graduate high school. do yourself a favor and WORK IN A RESTAURANT FIRST (ive seen so many culinary graduates come work in the restaurant and quit after a couple weeks or months. Cooking is fun and an amazing way to spend your time, cooking in a restaurant is not for most, its stressfull, theres sometimes conflict with your coworkers, and its HOT, i mean its really HOT, especially if your on grill. To be a succesfull chef you need to love cooking AND loving the pressure, stresss, and adrenaline that comes with a busy kitchen service. Work in a restaurant as a prep cook part time and see if you like it, also wouldnt hurt to get experience early on. Polish your skills while your still young
It is like we are the same person right now because I am doing the same thing 😂
i’m going in the fall for culinary science in baking and pastry, this was so helpful thank you. hope fully i see you there!
Same here
omg same !
Me too me too
Yayy, congs ❤️. How did the process happen? (Admission details, notifications and so on)
I’m literally a sophomore in high school and I’m more into this then my SAT’s and other stuff 😂 I really love your videos though! I always watch your UA-cam videos and wonder how it’s going to be like for me once i can attend a culinary school. Anyways I wish you the best in what you’re trying to achieve
you are so sweet!! thank you:)
My son is going in the fall and just got his schedule, he has classes Tues - Saturday, but he's also in the culinary program for his bachelors degree and classes between 2pm - 6pm. I am really glad I came across your videos, really informative.
I recently applied and got in, and your videos are high key lowering my anxiety about going!
Congratulations!!! Did you win scholarships or financial aid?
you seem like a beautiful person, I wish you a good life
Brilliant videos!! No one makes vlogs on culinary school. Props! Good job!!
Subbed! I truly hope you will make some more videos about dorms, dorm life, CIA, and class reviews.
Droppin' those knowledge bombs, Jen. Nice.
One thing you should make very clear if you show up to kitchen class unprepared you will get kicked out at least for culinary students. I can't help but laugh when you say you failed servsafe by one point as that is how it normally goes with that test for those that fail. The food is far better there than any other college or cafeteria at a work place.
When r u going to do more videos !! 💖💖. Please do more on like what to do around campus, do u go into the city? Maybe ask a culinary side to show her/ his experience!
In about 2-3 years I plan to study in the sci
Thanks tons for these vids their a real help now I have alot to look forward to
Don’t waste your money on that servsafe book. If the school does a prep for the test that’s all you need to know. Just take notes on basically all of the temperature and time requirements. There are other things you need to know but it’s common sense. My school did a prep a week before the test date and I didn’t buy the book and passed on the first try with a 95.
yeah, I totally get that but you need to at the CIA. not for the book itself really, but for the test scan-tron that comes in it. The school does not provide the test sheet and many students have tried ordering a cheaper option or it separately. And usually they are not the same and the school will not allow you to take it. That’s why:)
Some rooms in Hudson actually have private bathrooms, the designs and layouts of the rooms actually change for each floor. Angell and Pick both have options for singles, doubles, and triples. All rooms in Angell have private bathrooms, can't speak for Pick though!
yup! I just forgot to mention everything in that video!! Pick is the same as Angell and Rosie:)
Okay. I just woke up, and when I first read the title, I first read this on how to join the CIA....as in the Central Intelligence Agency. lol.
Me in high school doing serve safe in my culinary class learning I’m gonna have to do it again 👁👄👁
some high schools allow you to transfer the credit, but I learned some schools weren't able to idk why. fingers crossed you can use your hs certification haha
I'm applying here this fall, kinda exited
yay!! best of luck:)
Lolllll I keep getting like Purdue, Franklin University, Wright State (I’m from Ohio btw that’s where the school is), Penn State, etc.
Hii Jennifer! Loved the video, I was just wondering if you're staying at Hyde Park or Greystone? And would you think there is a better location?
Chris Mtz-Abrego I study at Hyde Park! Hyde Park is the original and largest campus so I do think it’s the best! But all locations are great:)
Jennifer Lee do you have the option to live off campus?
@@ianjohnson1495 You do have the option to live off campus but I think most students live on-campus.
Good morning, I want to attend the ICE at new York, please I need your advices; am from West Africa ( Benin republic) I speak French and English. I need more about international students thanks
shoot me a DM, I'd be glad to help!!
your videos are wonderful! I already subscribed to your channel and now I need help to publicize my videos, I can count on you
Thank you so much!
Hi! I know this is an older video but I really have a burning question rn. So I’m having a crisis where I’m in a University here to study Pre-Nursing but I’m suddenly not having a liking towards that career path anymore. I’ve been baking since I was around 15 as a hobby and for fun and I watch a lot of Baking shows. For years it has just been a hobby but now I’m having thoughts of maybe pursuing a career in it. I’ve just started watching your videos today (btw subscribed!) and I’m thinking of attending CIA next semester. Do you think I’m making a good decision? I love you and your videos, the content is amazing!!!
Can someone plz tell me whether i can get admission there after 12th
Hi I love watching your Vids. I think they are really helpful😁.
Could you tell me what I have to bring in general.
E.g Knives, Pots, Pans, Blenders,Clothing?? ect.
Thanks:))(
Hi!! I actually made a whole video on that, go check it out:)
Where is this school located i want to go there rn but like WAY in the future because right now I am just in the 6th grade and planning my whole future 😂
So I'm attending in August and do you mind making a video comparing the pastry program against the culinary program?
I cant choose.. I do catering for a living. Ive been working for myself the last 5 years.
I chose to go to CIA to strengthen my business (my skills) and I really want to take both!
Right now it seems logical to take culinary, but I am so attracted to the science aspect and principles of baking and I love how the science behind things can translate to culinary in my personal life....
Any thoughts would be appreciated (:
If I’m gonna be honest I really can’t compare the two, they are both equally great. They are also very different, so it all goes down to which you prefer!! Also I do not recommend doing both, I heard it is very hard to make a schedule. Sorry I couldn’t help more:(
@@jenniferlalee thank you
As a previous alumni I suggest you look at it from the point of view of which is going to generate more/superior work opportunities for you after graduate.
Aren't you doing a associates program can you show us all of your books
Is it really difficult to manage for people you do not eat non-vegetarian food? What is the course fees for associate programme?
What would you recommend bringing to campus for your dorm? Also, do you have to buy all of your textbooks or are there online copies also?
honestly, anything that makes you feel at home, the dorm rooms are pretty big so there plenty of space for everything! also you can check the website to see what textbooks you need, I would recommend getting them ahead of time and there are online copies for some!
be prepared to be homesick. everyone has it to some degree. don't feel that you can't show it.
fusionchef1 I’m already getting homesick and I don’t leave until next week.
If you are already servsafe certified do you have to take food safety
Hello Have been watching your video from a while n it’s quite interesting and even I m planning to join CIA. Could you please the me the duration of associate degree in Culinary arts as well as the duration for Bachelors degree in culinary arts like the duration of the course. Please reply ❤️
can you also recommend professors/chefs
Chef Egan is my all time favv chef, Chef Baska, and Chef McCarrick are also great!! Professor Mazzei, and Professor Costura are really chill:)
Jennifer Lee can we also choose them. also can u make a video talking bout the dorms as well. i’m going from california to the new york campus and now i’m honestly scared bc i have to do the campus quarantine + don’t know anyone
@@katielee18 a dorm video is coming very soon! and you can't choose your fundies chef. you may choose professors, but nothings guaranteed
Katie Lee I’m coming from South Carolina doing the same thing. I feel exactly how you feel
I’m deciding whether to go to CIA or Johnson and Wales for the culinary arts program for food business management. I’m leaning towards CIA, but I’m nervous I’m making the wrong decision. Any tips?
I honestly had that same decision to make. They are both great schools. But I ended up choosing CIA only because I felt like their kitchen classes are better. I honestly liked their dorms 10x more too. Honestly JW is more of a regular college with a culinary program and CIA is definitely like a Culinary culinary college. But that’s just my option, hope it helps!!
Hi Jennifer ,I wish to join the school can I chat with u to get more details of the school,
Hiii,i love your videos!!!,sorry for the question but how many semesters are in total?
5 for associates! and im not too sure how many for bachelors but if definitely more!!
@@jenniferlalee thanks!!!! You are a crack,i love you videos
Hi this might be a dumb question but I’m a senior and I never took a culinary class so I know nothing about anything if that makes sense. I couldn’t take them cuz my counselor said I couldn’t for some reason and I want to go to CIA. Should I still apply even tho I’ve never taken a culinary class in my life?
Definitely! A lot of people discover they want to pursue culinary later on anyways! But I would definitely say to make up for that, try to get more experience job wise and at home!
Im planning on bringing a couple of items for bathroom cleaning. (Comet and a scrubber)
Is this unnecessary?
yeah, I would bring them!
I still have a few days to drop out and not lose money, should I do it??? Kinda getting bad vibes so far and from what I’m hearing it only gets worse from here on out.
If you don’t mind me asking, is it the people or is it the education that you’re getting bad vibes from?
I really don't know your situation, but trust me I had those thoughts too. I would suggest staying, its the best decision I have ever made, remember it gets better!!: if you want to talk about it you can shoot me a dm:)
I have a question can you show if the school is open and that they have a disabled program because I am in the disability program
The school is currently not open in Hyde Park, NY. They do have disability services/ handbook! It’s online if you want to check it out!
hey ..how can i get a recommendation? is working in a fast food ok for recommendation or do i have to go to a cooking school for recommendation...will the recommendation be valid if im a waiter or a dish washer?
Abc D for sure! recommendations can come from previous teachers, bosses, etc!
they do want experience. fast food is not the best but something is much better than nothing. Catering tends to be king as far a work experience goes. Despite this, the most important thing is to show a serious dedicated mentality. you prove this with recommendations from teachers, community leaders. one super plus is you have the ability to in high school there are often dedicated tech schools with culinary programs that you can take while still in highschool.
@@fusionchef1 If you do go through the HS option and get a ServSafe Certification, does that mean you can get credit for the Fundamentals class?
@@amywestfall9740 unfortunately since it has been over a decade I do not know policies regarding what classes you can test out of and how.
My son will be attending this fall and will moving in Sept 4th. Do you have your own room. I know he will have a roommate.
i live in a lodge with two doubles! so I have 3 roommates, but just one in my bedroom!
@@jenniferlalee I saw your video and you mentioned if students want to opt out of taking the math course there is math exam students can take. How can my son go about taking the exam if he chooses to opt out. He will studying Associates in pastry arts. I believe he said he will living in Hudson Hall but hasn't been assigned a room yet. Also thank you for your videos, they have been very helpful
Patricia Hom you can find the exam on the student portal page
@@MigzXP thank you, much appreciated
is there any religious affiliation at CIA?
there is not
How many hours a day are you in classes?
some days 6, and some days 8
What is a full time student in cia?
im not sure I understand what you're asking, could you clarify?:)
Are your classmates your age?
most of them are, but CIA does have people of all ages!!
