Scuba diving is unreal the first time you do it. It feels so unnatural not being restricted by air, but it feels so freeing. The ability to just float there weightlessly at 20 feet deep is just insane. The peace, the beauty, there’s nothing like it.
One of my favorite things to do when I’m diving in a pool, is to flip on my back, listen to the sounds of my regulator and the water, and looking up at the surface. It’s really mesmerizing and peaceful.

I was enamored with the idea of scuba diving as a child, mostly from a book that I had about the great barrier reef. I largely forgot about this until we were on vacation - a cruise to the Bahamas. On a whim, I suggested snorkeling. The even more beautiful reef and fish down just too far to reach on a breath inspired me to go back home to the dessert and get certified. That was 20 years ago and I still enjoy recreational diving.
Paul Noak me too! 13 as well..lol I’m still certified as a kid but I’m going to get a recertificationin december as an adult. In my state you have to be 13 as an adult certification. I’ve been diving since I was 9

I have been in Bonaire diving since June. Sadly I’ll have to sail out in a few weeks. The diving here is fantastic. I have been to 38 different dive sites and everyone was a joy. My favorites were the Salt Pier, 1,000 Steps, Jeff Davis, the Cliff, Oil Slick, and Klein Bonaire. Diving is so serene as you glide along trying to see all the fish and invertebrates. Do yourself a favor, get certified and come to places like Bonaire, it will change your life.
For me, diving is everything you've said in the video and on top of everything - my way to get rid of gravity. The feeling of flying slowly over the edge of the cliff I can't describe with words.
I love this video! Before diving I thought a couple of these things but after my first dive all that vanished. Exploring the ocean is something that is so beautiful and magical that I can't even perfectly put it into words.

I am interested in scuba diving but just have no resources to start it a the moment. I some times go "free diving" with just the mask on, but that just isn't the same!
My first step I took when I was 9. I don’t know how old you are. But I did a program good for all ages. The first one I did was diving with sharks at my zoo. After that I realized I really did want to dive in the ocean. So we went to the nearest dive certification and they let me try diving again in a pool. Now I really wanted to dive whenever I could from that. So a couple months later I got my underage certification. I dove so much. With other people and instructors. This December I will be old enough (13) to get my adult certification😆 We chose the place we originally went to. And it was even on sale for me to sign up. I can’t wait to dive alone now!! Goodluck! Take baby steps because it is a very expensive activity! But I think you should try! Just try breathing underwater with a regulator and see if your certification company will allow you to see if you want to start diving..Goodluck!!❤️
I an completly relate to the last and the forst one (thanks mother in law!), but yeah when I explain to people I actually mainly dive under ice, therefore there is no fish, they quite don't belive me
I swam through a sea of jellies. I’m a cold-weather diver, so I had on a drysuit, hood and gloves, so none of me touched any of them. Pictures will never do them justices, it’s truly ethereal!
Although the video showed ice, he said "colder water" so he wasn't talking only about arctic diving. I dive in cold water (45 - 50 degrees Fahrenheit / 7 - 10 Celsius) with a two-piece 7mm wetsuit, but most divers in my area use drysuits.

For me, diving is a wonderful time to enjoy the peacefulness underwater. I started through snorkeling, but the deeper I went, the less time I had to enjoy the underwater world. As far as diving is very expensive, it is more so than soccer or baseball, but it's comparable to playing rec/beer league hockey, buying good equipment - good skates cost $650- $1,000, e.g (which wear out sooner than scuba equipment), and taking skating/hockey lessons. It might be odd that I enjoy diving in Canada in 7mm 2 piece wet suits, and 5mm thick boots, gloves, hoods, but I do.
"with Scuba diving you are nutually bouyant".... Hahahahahahahahaha you should see some of the albatross bottom landings we do when we are getting our weights right... My friends and myself. But then again we are commercial divers and most of my diving consisted of getting to the bottom and staying there while digging through the mud. Lol. Sometimes I forget that I'm just sport diving with friends and sometimes the rule that you need 27lbs if you ... Think... You weigh 270lbs, only to find out you only 248, because you lost weight since the end of winter and the beginning of fall... You end up beating the anchor to the bottom infront of all the newbies that are doing their first open water dive! Lol

I've snorkel but never dived before. mmm. It looks really cool going to a deeper level in the ocean. I think if I did dive I'd take an extra little yellow tank that's bigger than a water bottle just incase my bigger tank went out tho. MMM
What does scuba mean to me, getting away from the Misses. Nah love the woman but I just want to know what is under the sand, grab the Excalibur Metal Detector and away we go. Found heaps of stuff in the oceans and rivers Be safe and keep it real. Brad
Sharks are more like true neutral, Jaws makes it out that they prey on anything but they are animals just like deer, cats, turtles and surprisingly - fish! Dolphins are really the only ones you should be careful of, they have the intelligence and the capacity for evil, they sometimes kill things just for fun! Sharks don't, they just swim and keep am eye open for the prey they know they can eat.
Ha ha. I love that one about the air. Try this response: “When is the last time you ran out of fuel in your automobile? Do you run out of fuel often?? You know there’s that gauge thingy called a fuel quantity indicator? It actually tells you how much fuel you have in your fuel tank. Yep! Right on the dashboard. Oh... there also a thing called a turn signal-most drivers don’t know what that is either.” Just sayin’ 🤨
I've never had a BCD "fill" with water (How would that happen?), but if I did it wouldn't be a big deal. Water IN the BCD would weigh the same as water OUTSIDE the BCD, so it would be neutrally buoyant. Just dump your weights and swim to the surface.
You should! The first time you take a breath underwater, even if it's just in a swimming pool, is an amazing experience and it only gets better. Most dive shops offer a "try dive" or other introductory session where they'll loan you all the equipment you need, give a short class, and then take you on a simple dive in a pool or shallow water.
I’m a certified ice diver. Bring a dry suit and some of those heater pads (the $1.00 packs) from a gas station. That said, you can also insulate your suit with argon if you want another gas to manage. Add: just note if the heater packs get wet, they become useless. Found that out when I had a glove leak in a rainstorm on my motorcycle. It turns into a little lump of cold clay. X-/
right now im still getting cetefied as a diver. I just need to do at least 4 open water dives and then im certified. the things you said in the video are right. but you dont swim up to sharks. when you see a shark you stay still but keep an eye on it. sorry about the super long comment btw
I kind of feel that SCUBA Diving is an expensive, extreme sport made for the elite that exposes to sharks and jellyfish. You need to wear too much gear and pretty much only fish lovers would waste their time doing it. Also I start my Certification classes on July 8th.
SeikiBrian haha I’m all certified now and already have 10 dives under my belt. I volunteer at The Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth MN and can now start diving in their 24ft deep trout and salmon tank. Can’t wait!
Jamie Bai Yeah but once I’ 18 I plan to go to Plymouth University and there it should be cheaper, besides my family aren’t interested, and there’s no point getting certified until I’ve left home and can go on some dive trips.
The ONLY downside of diving is having to pay bills before you book your dives... Unfortunately need as in water, food, and shelter are the main concerns and diving as often as possible dont always mesh well

So peaceful under water . There is really no way to explain unless your a diver yourself .
It is so relaxing underwater. I don't know how people think it is stressful?

I've snorkel but never dived before. mmm. It looks really cool going to a deeper level in the ocean. I think if I did dive I'd take an extra little yellow tank that's bigger than a water bottle just incase my bigger tank went out tho. MMM
What does scuba mean to me, getting away from the Misses. Nah love the woman but I just want to know what is under the sand, grab the Excalibur Metal Detector and away we go.
Found heaps of stuff in the oceans and rivers
Be safe and keep it real.
Brad
What are the fish at 3:31 ?
lifeofaboxbot looks like a triggerfish of some description to me :)
3:38you said it
Sharks are more like true neutral, Jaws makes it out that they prey on anything but they are animals just like deer, cats, turtles and surprisingly - fish! Dolphins are really the only ones you should be careful of, they have the intelligence and the capacity for evil, they sometimes kill things just for fun! Sharks don't, they just swim and keep am eye open for the prey they know they can eat.
The one question I get is "why didn't you stab the shark?" with my dive tool. Another one is "What if you run out of air?"
Do a video on what free divers think of scuba divers
Ooo that's a good one! Added to the list!
How do people deal with their BCDs filling with water? You'd think that would be nearly a death sentence.
I've never had a BCD "fill" with water (How would that happen?), but if I did it wouldn't be a big deal. Water IN the BCD would weigh the same as water OUTSIDE the BCD, so it would be neutrally buoyant. Just dump your weights and swim to the surface.
Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't know any of these things since I've never gone diving. I'd like to, though.
You should! The first time you take a breath underwater, even if it's just in a swimming pool, is an amazing experience and it only gets better. Most dive shops offer a "try dive" or other introductory session where they'll loan you all the equipment you need, give a short class, and then take you on a simple dive in a pool or shallow water.
2:15 I think this could get a little chilly ;)
Not at all PackChoi it's totally Bikini weather!
Scuba is key to sustain human life beyond this planet
right now im still getting cetefied as a diver. I just need to do at least 4 open water dives and then im certified. the things you said in the video are right. but you dont swim up to sharks. when you see a shark you stay still but keep an eye on it. sorry about the super long comment btw
Do you have to get use to the tube in your mouth does it feel uncomfortable at first?
It's my happy place!
I kind of feel that SCUBA Diving is an expensive, extreme sport made for the elite that exposes to sharks and jellyfish. You need to wear too much gear and pretty much only fish lovers would waste their time doing it. Also I start my Certification classes on July 8th.
Loved the sarcasm! So how did it go?
SeikiBrian haha I’m all certified now and already have 10 dives under my belt. I volunteer at The Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth MN and can now start diving in their 24ft deep trout and salmon tank. Can’t wait!
No grandma, that scar was from me accidentally cutting myself with a knife, not a shark
I'm laughing thinking about the photo shoot you must have took to get all those pictures of your selfs
To me it’s my future once I get certified (hopefully at eighteen)!
Taye Trotman you can’t get certified before 18, you only need to be 12, 10 in some places. I’ve been certified since I was 10
Jamie Bai Yeah but once I’ 18 I plan to go to Plymouth University and there it should be cheaper, besides my family aren’t interested, and there’s no point getting certified until I’ve left home and can go on some dive trips.
nice
you sound like squire the other youtuber that plays warthunder and other stuff
The ONLY downside of diving is having to pay bills before you book your dives... Unfortunately need as in water, food, and shelter are the main concerns and diving as often as possible dont always mesh well
uncommonclassix I didn’t realize how expensive...I’m 13 lol I don’t pay bills yet. But I do dive a lot. Thanks for the heads up when I’m older!
