    Happy new year John,, Workshop is looking great and a good sized workspace. I have similar problem with condensation, my garage and workshop have a metal roof and it is bad this time of year water droplets surface rust on most of my tools, nothing that a spray of WD40 cant fix. Great tour of your workshop and you will get your 100000 soon mate Take care

    Happy new year John, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you regarding temperatures, I have started using an infra red patio heater in the shop, its on a heavy base and can be moved around where needed, and it heats you up without heating the air , and its almost instant and now blowing dust around

    For heating I use a patio electric heater. Heats what it touches. Not the air. So cheaper to run. I live it. My workshop is the same size as yours.

    Happy New Year, John. I hope 2025 is kind to you. I liked looking around your shed. Really well organised (in my humble opinion), and I picked up some good ideas regarding how to organise tools etc. My shed (which doubles as a workshop) is exactly the same temperature as the outside temperature - at least it seems this way! Take care.

    A very comprehensive tour of a well set out workshop. You must consider putting in some insulation - don’t know hard it is to retrofit. I have a metal clad shed in the sub tropics (Queensland) that is insulated. Our winters are not anywhere near as cold but working in the shed at any time of year is much more tolerable and enjoyable being insulated.

    First video of yours I've seen & what a tidy workshop !. Quite jealous of the extra 3 metre. Mine is 6m x6m and most of my machines are big hulking beasts as it's a full on joinery shop shoehorned in and complete with an oldish transalp in the corner 😅.
    On another note, it goes without saying that you're in serious need of some insulation, but as for heating?. This winter i finally sprung for a cheep, £120, 8 kilowatt Chinese diesel. heater. I held off for years thinking it'd be a fire hazard. Turns out not at all. Im on a farm with red diesel, but it actually works better off kerosene which is even cheaper & for such a dimunative thing it packs a mighty punch and runs for a fraction of your electric fan heater. Just a thought!. Cheers & looking forward to seeing more videos.

    Nice one mate! Your shop has really evolved since I started watching :)
    I´m actually up and about of making a kind of "workshop tour" video as well. But my shop is still really rough and in the making so I think it will be a bit more of a how did I get here video.
    And congrats on nearing a 100k! It feels like your channel really exploded since your comeback hasn´t it?

    Hi John! Happy 2025 to you and yours. Glad to see you doing more videos. Lovely shop tour. Totally understand the workbench conundrum. I got th Bora Portamate little legs-and-top arrangement for MFT. It's serviceable. Folds up very compact, and for my needs it's fine. I really only use it when breaking down sheet goods with the track saw. And sometimes as a build bench when I need hold-downs on a flat surface (cabinet builds, etc). Did I spy a couple packouts there in the background by the weight bench? Stay well, stay warm! I look forward to watching your answer to the workbench question.

    Great shop tour John. What would be involved in insulating the walls and ceiling in your shop to make it more comfortable and easier to heat?
    Also, that GS does look absolutely pristine! What are you thinking about replacing it with?

    • @JohnMcGrathManInShed
      @JohnMcGrathManInShed  2 дні тому

      Insulating would be a lot of hard work at this point. I'm thinking about and S1000XR or a KTM but KTM could go bust

    • @ogwoodworks
      @ogwoodworks 2 дні тому

      @@JohnMcGrathManInShed Yes, KTM might not be a wise investment at this point. The XR is a beast alright but I don't think you'll find it as smooth as the GS (lots of vibes through the bars and pegs). I rode a new Tiger 1200 last year and thought it was brilliant.

    Hi,john, great vid, what is that heater? Is it diesel one? Struggle to heat my shop electric is getting expensive ..... got a propane space heater but have you seen the price of propane now as well 😮

    • @JohnMcGrathManInShed
      @JohnMcGrathManInShed  2 дні тому

      Its a 3kw electric fan heater, it takes the sting out of the air. I don't need much heat but its below freezing at the minute. If you are in the workshop all day, look at an infrared heater at least that will heat you and not the whole work shop first.

    I don't mean to be obtuse but why do you 'need' more space around the bench? The combo bench you have looks great and seems like it can easily transition from hand tools to work that requires the mft/powertools.
