Thank you. Last year I bought the icon screwdriver set from my mac dealer for real cheap. It was a trade in set. I bought it knowing one of the screwdrivers were missing. Wanted the set for my box at home. Now i know what im doing tomorrow.
It's about time someone showed the process of ordering replacement ICON tools. I will say that I think it is archaic compared to other companies where you can order tools on line. It's kind of a pain in the backside to sift through the PDF and then call the 1-800 number to place an order. Your method of downloading the PDF and pasting in the tool set number is a great idea as it brings you right where you need to be. I still think Harbor Freight should have individual tools available in store.
I agree entirely. I’d find it way more convenient to get my sockets or a single wrench on the shelf when I need it rather than have to wait up to 48 hours to arrive
it wouldn't make financial sense to fully stock individual tool in the store. they would need a room for all each individual skus. from a business aspect that would be a lose lose situation.
@@thai6670 I think it makes sense to at least stock the most popular sizes that everyone uses I am sure they can make a small section in the middle aisles where they stock random stuff that you can find elsewhere in the store
Dude. I have been a Harbor Freight junkie since they first opened! When I walk in any of the local stores, they know me by name and I know most of the employees by name. The managers always take care of me and I buy tons of the clearance items. And after all this time, I never was informed the information that you just provided. I really appreciate the video you made and I will be buying even more clearance items now I know I can get the replacements. Again thank you it was awesome.
Three times a week, at 9:30 PM, I will run 5 miles around the neighborhood. I commonly find wrenches and sockets on the side of the road. Today, I found a Stanley 10MM Combination Wrench and a Craftsman 7/16 1/4 inch drive socket along the side of the road. For the past four years, I have found 243 sockets on the side of the road. Of the 243 sockets found, 123 are SAE sockets and 120 are Metric sockets I know that people are losing these tools. I believe that people drop the tools in their engine bay but cannot find their lost tools. Finally, the tools drop out of the engine bay while they are driving. I like to thank the author of this video for showing how to replace individual tools from tool sets. I was thinking about donating these extra sockets to the Salvation Army Thrift store. I already possess a complete socket set. The majority of the sockets have the ICON, KOBABT and Craftsman Brand names. I do not find tools that originate from tool trucks, such as MATCO and Snap-on.
Probably how I found that Craftsman 10 mm wrench a couple of months ago on the side of the road. Also found a 3/8 Craftsman socket as well as a Milwaukee flashlight and M18 battery. Are the things I have found, two new iPhones and two credit cards all of which I was able to get back to the original owners somehow.
Dear@@m3rdpwr : I find credit cards and wallets on the side of the road. I live next door to a hospital. I give the hospital security guards the found wallets. This is probably one of the few times that a hospital calls and the news is good.
Dear @@m3rdpwr: It is good to know that there are others who are finding credit cards on the side of the road. When I find a credit card, I call the credit card issuer, who prints their phone number on the card, and tell them that I have found the card. Great idea for a video! You are a legend! I called the parts number a couple months ago to order an extra drive belt for my lathe. The guy on the phone was very helpful. I thought the belt was a little over priced, but so wanted to make sure I had one. So stupid of me to have done that and not connect the dots to buying the missing parts from the AS-IS section. Then again, my HF doesn’t really mark down their AS-IS in a meaningful amount. So I rarely consider buying them.
very true. less than packaging is not marked down by much. heck today there were two return 3000W generators. and only marked down by $200.USD. unknow problem. unknown condition, did a fool try to start one with no oil in it? fry the electronics?
Doing the lord’s work out here with this video! I’m just going to send people the link to this when they start crying about getting replacement parts. A literal step by step.
Nice idea, however I just got off the phone with a really nice lady from Harbor Freight after giving her the required part number for an Icon wrench missing from a set at my local store on clearance and after doing the math the savings was a little over five dollars. The mark down had already been calculated in house using the same method, virtually no savings and was told that it would take up to twelve weeks for delivery. I will just buy the new set and avoid the leg work. The customer service rep on the phone was extremely professional and very helpful. I think for the most part Harbor Freight has very good customer service.
It's not that nobody knows about the parts list, it's that with the slightest effort they could make this a whole lot simpler to do. If they want to play in the premium tool game, they need to up the service. This is why most of the things I have that come in sets I bought from Tekton. It's about the same price range, it's decent quality and they're more than happy to sell you only the tools you need. No hoops, just order the thing.
Thank you for sharing, nothing comes up though for any of the sockets I am trying to get. So it's not a comprehensive list of every product, just many products. Still cool though, definitely helpful for repairing like a toolbox or the like I'm sure.
I've known about this for at least a decade.. If you have the manual to whatever you need a part for, the part number and phone number is there as well
I find that harbor freight does not discount these tool kits much, with a missing part. Often you can buy them brand new for a good price when they go on sale, or a coupon. At least that's the case at my 2 harbor freights.
Thats the case in stores near me as well, at most i seen any set or item is 20% off the original price even though there is sometimes multi pieces missing.
in the last sale, those pop up lanterns were like $4. The cashier pointed out there was a returned lantern on the as-is table. so I checked it out. one of the three light elements didn’t light up. the price was $5! unbelievable.
It's because the discount takes into account the cost for you to replace the missing pieces. You may as well buy the complete set and save yourself the hassle.
I asked to buy a wrench out of an already "open box" set that had the one I needed for the asking price on the replacement web site but they said there was no way to ring it up. I just figured I could skip the shipping that way but if there is no shipping for replacements, no more problem. Thanks for the video! I'll have to go ahead and pull that trigger. Any idea about using a 20% off weekend for the replacements?
You can change the configuration and size of a toolbox that has a set location for the drawer sliders? Wouldn’t you have to change the slider position to accommodate a different size drawer? Can that be done? I’d be very interested in this to make a huge / heavy duty media storage cabinet where the original drawers are too small.
Probably depends on the brand of box. Icon you can. There’s different slots for the slides. I rearranged the layout of my box and side locker. I’ve been wanting to replace a couple of the smaller drawers just haven’t gotten around to it yet. The replacement drawers are reasonably priced.
I would definitely call and ask if they have things in stock, i ordered about 13 replacement sockets and wrenches in total over a year and a half ago. To this day i’ve probably only received half of them since they’re on “backorder”
The majority of people who order like this from HOBO Freight end up waiting several months to never receiving what they ordered. HOBO Freight is does not stock individual wrenches and sockets and it is a crap shoot if you would ever receive what you order.
@@shopyota It was on an Icon wrench set that had 1 missing. Presumably for warranty exchange. I was checking out with them and that is what I was told. And I told them they could keep them! I recently had a return from the same store and they asked for a receipt, which I had. I assumed they could use my phone #, so I asked. She said I must have a receipt. I think that's ridiculous since they have a log of everything I've purchased. Anyway, I'll ask next time I'm there
