I disinterred my mom and brother a couple years ago and moved them to a new state, about 6 hours away. My brother passed before I was born and my mom died when I was 5. For 31 years, they were too far to visit more than a handful of times. So, my sister and my Dad agreed to my crazy plan. We were able to plan a service for them in the new location and it was probably the best thing that could have happened for my healing. Now they are 10 minutes away and I'm out there multiple times per week. My sister and I will be buried on either side of her. It was a huge undertaking, not without some family drama, but I'm so thankful we did this.
Thank you for that lovely story. Cheers!

Just curious, when a family member has lived one disinterefed for whatever reason. Would they be allowed to have the casket open and view them?
Ooh, it depends on how long that they were dead and buried for, because no matter how well they were embalmed and how good of a vault and casket was used, there is still going to be decomposition. Most of the time, most people wouldn't want to do this,, due to the really unpleasant look and smell of a decomposing body. Also, from what I have heard, even twenty five years ago, the way that burial vaults seal, in order to get the lid off to be able to remove and open the casket, you practically have to break it apart. So, a new vault would have to be purchased and used for a the casket to be relocated and buried in. Why somebody would want to do this after a period of years I don't know, for there wouldn't be many remains to be seen, only a skeleton.
