Oh my god, nieces/nephews and aunts/uncles and presents. I too was a recipient of make up that I was never gonna use from relatives who were like 'Mzyra is (theoretically) a girl she must want make up' and just... no. One time I got an eyelash curler that is probably somewhere but I've never used and don't want to put near my eyes tyvm? Meanwhile my nephews are still like 5 and 2 so my sister instructs us exactly what to get, but they were here yesterday and yes. The refreshing commentary of small children. My sister's family is wealthy, their house is like twice the size of ours and we were sat in our lounge (there's no doors between the lounge, dining room and kitchen) and my 5 year old nephew asked 'where's your lounge' and me and their dad was like this IS the lounge and my sister had to start explaining how most houses were like ours and they were the exception 😅
one of my goals for the new years was to find some more healthy podcasts/channels to combat my somewhat... unhealthy watching habits (true crime etc...) and i've only listened to a couple episodes so far but im loving this! ive been a yogs fan coming up to 15 odd years now but its so refreshing to have //other// content like this separate from that. especially from women's voices in this space!! thank you both already for being so funny and uplifting but also so open and relatable when it comes to mental health. in particular the moment briony mentioned "then my brain is like what if we just died right now and i have heart palpitations" - like it's a funny delivery but i couldve cried with how reassured and seen i felt as someone who struggles big time with rumination and similar void thoughts. rambling lol soz. i never comment on anything on youtube but had to this time just to say. thanks so far!! and im looking forward to going through all the old episodes now :---) take care!
Would highly recommend looking into the Gauntlets and Gowns Halfling Midsummer Party if you want to do a day of drinking, dancing and making merry in the style of Hobbits! No hobbit holes unfortunately, but the day is still a fun little lark (I attended this summer and had a good time with it!)
I'm amazed with such close larp connections how little you are aware. Almost all fest larps do infact have open cooking fires. That people do make hot drinks on. But also almost all have external hot drinks and food sellers on site as well just off the in character field or in a corner of it. None fest larps tend to have more relaxed timings with plenty of time and availability of all the comforts you want. Also there is just a hobbit fest larp in the UK. that you will quickly find if you go looking for it.
Happy New Year! Hope you both had a wonderful Christmas!
