Sunderland Station is located on national rail network between Newcastle and Hartlepool as well as on the Tyne and Wear Metro network between Pelaw and South Hylton.
Northern Rail operate the National Rail services here with services heading towards: Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough or towards Newcastle and Carlisle up to every hour. These services are operated with Class 156 and Class 159 Diesel Multiple Units.
Tyne and Wear Metro services operate up to every 15 minutes throughout the week towards South Hylton or towards Newcastle Airport via Gateshead
