- In this video, I share how to make specialty stitches that are similar to the ones found in the Woodstock Crochet Scarf.

Part 3 • Master The Art Of Seam...
Please note, this is not an exact replica of the scarf, I am just using it for inspiration to help you see how to design your own as well as share some fun stitches that you can use for this scarf or for other sampler style projects.
Specialty Stitches:
A variation of the Cable Stitch
The Moroccan Tile Stitch
Treble Crochet Cross
If you are fairly new to crocheting or would be interested in trying other stitches for this scarf, here is a video with more sampler stitches that will work nicely for a scarf:

If you're working with a weight 4 yarn and a 4mm hook , it will take approx
40 chains to reach 10 inches. However the main specialty stitch requires a multiple of 3 (plus 1 or 2 depending on how you use it) so keep that in mind as your mapping out your scarf. This is explained in the video.
Here is a link to yarn weights and the different way they are referenced:

Scarf measures approx. 10 x 70 inches
Hook & Yarn :
To obtain gauge, I'd recommend using a Worsted (weight 4) yarn with a 4 mm hook
I'm using a 100% cotton yarn by Hobby Lobby
called "I love this cotton yarn".
Colors:
Parchment (for the Neutral)
Aqua
Buttercup
Pink
Stonewash Blue
Serena Spa
Coral
Rosey II
I also have Deep Teal and Sage that I'll probably include later but not sure yet.
If you don't have a hobby lobby near you, I'd also recommend:
Comfy Worsted by KnitPicks with a 4mm hook.
www.knitpicks.com/yarn/comfy-...
This yarn is slightly thinner so your squares might come out about 1/4" smaller but it's supposed to be in the same weight category (4)
You can see what it looks like in this video:
• Try This Cool Granny S...
I'd recommend you use your favorite yarn. If you want it to look like the reference photo, I'd recommend using a merino wool or blend.

View Part 1 ua-cam.com/video/iVxfNu9GfWE/v-deo.html Hi friends! This is part 2 of 3 videos where I share how to design your own sampler scarf . In this video I share 3 specialty stitches - The Cable Stitch, Moroccan Tile stitch and an X Mini Square. I also share some tips at the end if you want to get started putting your scarf together but I'll be sharing all my tips next week in Pt. 3 . xx
Thank you. This series inspired me to want to create something beautiful too. A work of art.
Fantastic 👏🏻😍
So glad these stitches can be demonstrated. My big confusion with crochet patterns is whether to go "into" the stitch vs "under". Your video shows going under while say "go into". I think a lot of patterns read into when under is intended. Imagine the frustration of my attempts! Thank you!
Oooh, I know what you mean. I struggle with that too with written patterns. I’ll continue to keep that in mind with the videos. Thank you for sharing 💕🧶💕
I’m so happy I found your channel! I love your very thorough description of what you’re doing. I don’t mind at all that your saying each stitch as you do it. I’m surprised anyone would tell you that was “annoying”. It’s a tutorial! You’re supposed to be talking😊. Tell them to hit the “mute” button if they don’t want to hear your instructions. I want to hear it all!! I need all the support I can get. 😊
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me, most sincerely 👏🏻💕
@@PlayHookywithMe 💕
Thank you so much Roz, for these awesome tutorials. I fell in love with the scarf when you showed it. I am sick right now and can't really see but excited to make it. You always come up with the best content on your channel. I learn so much from you. Have a blessed night. 😊❤
That’s the beauty of UA-cam - it will be there when you feel better. 💕Very sorry you are not feeling well, I hope you get better very soon .
🧶💕💕💕
I waited all week for your part 2! ❤🦋
So glad 😀👏🏻💕💕
Thank you for taking the time to introduce us to all of these stitches and creating this beautiful scarf. I'm definitely going to make this...🫶🏻💋🫶🏻 #love
Wonderful! 😀🤗🧶💕
Thanks, Roz, for showing how this stitch is worked...as you were working the stitch, I thought to myself how it looked like a metal, and you certainly deserve one!!!😅
Ohh you’re too kind, Terry, thank you so much 😀🤩💕💕
Can’t wait to start
Hope you enjoy it ! 😀🧶💕
Thanks so much - I'm loving this! Your kitty reminds me of all my work going to family members that all have a kitty and a dog(I remember your reason for not selling your work) I hear a dog in the background too❤ Keepin it real m'lady❤❤
Haha yes , Katy, cat and dog hair everywhere! 🤣
I would love to donate some of my yarn to charity but I don’t dare because of it .
You heard my lovely neighbor dog, Bolt. He lives up to his name - he loves to “escape” and visit my Sadie any chance he gets 😆
Thank you for watching and have a great week 🧶💕
I love it! Started it last week and was waiting for the follow up! ❤
Awesome, Elda, I’m so glad ! Now it’s time to put it all together. It will be a fun week! See you then 😀💕
Thank you so much! your tutorials are so good and you make them easy to follow! I can't wait to start this! ❤😍
Yay, I’m glad 😀💕👏🏻
You are amazing!
Ohh- let’s wait until we start joining it together. 😅💕Hopefully it all works out but it means the world to me that you said that , thank you ❤️🧶
I’m enjoying making it. Still trying to get my head around how many to chain and how many threes 🤣🤣🤣sorry novice here but I will get it . Many thanks 😊
This looks like fun although I missed the first video somehow. Love the kitty. I'm doing hooded pocket scarves for two of my grandkids and I told them up front to not be mad at the cat hair on them... it's Milo's fault. He gets up in the container I'm working on their projects and sleeps😂😂. I pick what I see off but there's always a straggler or two left behind lol. Tyfs God bless
Hahaha I’m sure the family don’t mind 😂😂❤️🧶 👏🏻
@@PlayHookywithMe they won't lol. They love him too🥰🥰
I'm finding out how much I don't know. I don't spend a lot of time crocheting, that has to change! Thanks for your video.
🤗🧶👏🏻💕 thanks for watching!
Hello Roz... Happy Thursday im happy to see part 2 and can't wait for part 3 . I know it's going to be a blast. I don't think you're too repetitive , because some people are slow learners ; so keep on doing what you are doing . Have a great day along with the boys .
I appreciate that, thank you , Angela 💕💕💕
I just love all these marvelous stitches. All good hints. You are such a good teacher to help us along. Thank you. It's just so cool. 🌍☮️🌲
Thank you , Jennie, it is so much fun exploring all these different stitches with you all , love it 👏🏻👏🏻🤩 💕💕
Beautiful ❤
Thank you, Linda 💕
Thanks for this idea for a semi freeform pattern. I'm putting this series for the pattern into my play list of things to make in February. I have some other projects on the go for the rest of January. I'm wanting to make some scarves to use up single skeins. But I know there will be leftovers. This will be good for the leftover balls of yarn.
Great , Anne! I have some more videos planned for this series that will be available by the time you play with this project 👍🏻💕
So excited to make this! I know these videos are much more involved than a usual project, and I appreciate you so much for providing this series for us! God bless you! ❤💐♥️
I really appreciate you acknowledging that, thank you so much. I’m happy to do it 👏🏻💕🧶
Beautiful ❤️ pattern thank you
Thank you so much 💞
Loving this scarf!! Thank you for sharing with us.
@@sharonparmelee9633 I’m so glad you like it, Sharon, thank you !🧶💕
You're so very welcome!!!! I will add a couple stitches of my own and these will be Xmas presents for this year!!!@@PlayHookywithMe
@@sharonparmelee9633 fantastic! They will be stunning 🤩
Dank je wel voor je uitleg ik ben er meteen aan begonnen en vind het geweldig om al die verschillende steken en patronen in een shawl te verwerken.
I’m so excited that you’re making it !
Danke! ❤️🧶
Getting ready to start the scarf now! Thank you so much! Can you do a tutorial on the matching beanie next ?
Oh wonderful!
I’ll have to find it and have a think about it 👍🏻💕
@@PlayHookywithMe 😃 yea!! Thank u !! 💕
How many yards of each color did you need?
I can’t answer that. I’m just using scraps that I have on hand and filming my progress as I go. Sunday I’ll be sharing how to join it all together .
@@PlayHookywithMe so did you use more than say a 200yd skein of any one color? I don't have the right scraps to do what I am envisioning will need to buy. Thanks for sharing!
@@jomusicv probably . But more of the neutral color because I’m joining it altogether .
So here’s the info I have so far - hopefully it will help you .
I’ll probably need about 600 grams of yarn to make my scarf. That’s about 1,080 yards.
I’ve only done the top and bottom portion and about 4 inches of the stripes in between so far . That has taken 180 grams of yarn to do.
Each ball of yarn im using is 100grams in weight (180 yards)
I haven’t been keeping track of how much of each color I’m using.
I’m using about 8 different colors including the neutral one.
But again, you’ll need more of the neutral color than the others to pull it all together.
I have a new video out where you can see the pieces being joined and more tips .

@@PlayHookywithMe thank you so much. That is so generous of you. I got a 200-ish gram skein of each in similar colors with 25/75 wool/acrylic and two of the neutral so it will be close, I may get another neutral to try to match lots, but first I will go watch part 3 and see where I might substitute some of the other colors in some areas.
I’ve been crocheting for over 40 years and have become pretty good at altering when not enough yarn and accounting for using different fibers etc.
If you are interested in what I end up with I’d be happy to share.
@@jomusicv absolutely- I’d love to see when you’re done. I’m over on Instagram with the same username 💕
I need to ask a question for some help. Please, Roz or anyone, please...I'm trying to convert a big 5 point Texas star into a square blanket/afghan
I've searched the internet and can't find anything on how you do that😅
🤔 hmmm - I wonder if you could take a granny square and resize it up to a blanket size.
There must be some clues there to get started. Do you know what I mean? It’s like a 5 point square which is filled in to the point it turns into a circle. Then it can be squared off after that. That is where I would start to at least see how to go from the star/circle/square.
But hopefully someone has a resource to someone who has already figured it out!
@PlayHookywithMe ... thanks for your suggestion... I did find 1 that had a 3 - or 4-inch star that went to a circle, then a 4 corner sq... but that poor girl, her instructions weren't the clearest... I will go back and slow down the video to see if that helps ...1 question I will need to decrease stitches between the points, correct?
@@terryriley7490 I really don’t know without researching some patterns but hopefully you’ll gain some more insights rewatching it as well as gathering some more patterns and comparing them . Keep me posted , hopefully others will chime in 🧶💕
@@PlayHookywithMe noted with much thanks!!!
