Tip from an AT Class of '22 hiker. Find an extra large contractor trash bag. Cut the bottom off and slit it up the side. Tuck it in your waistband with the slit behind you and enjoy your waterproof rain skirt! Rain pants are not worth carrying! A skirt will let you hike with dry legs, not sweat drenched. I bet the trash bag skirt is half the weight of rain pants.
Welcome to beautiful nortyeastern Tennessee. I got to finally come back home to live nearby Johnson city after living the past 24 years in Richmond, va. I am looking forward to doing lots of hiking in northeast tn/western nd and in the Grayson highlands. My goal is to attempt to do my own thru hike on the AT when I retire in about 5 to 6 more years. Get my naval academy graduate son after he retires in 7 more years to come hike along with his old dad.
It’s all about the experience, and kayaking as part of your journey can only enrich it 👍
Have fun! Hike your own hike!😊😊
All about the journey. 👍

It's YOUR hike! I think that's a great variation.
