Wow! Omar has experienced quite a lot for his age. And that has shaped him into this fine and kind young dude that he is today. Enjoyed every bit of the interview. Kudos to the interviewer for creating a relaxed atmosphere and making Omar comfortable with the questions.

This is by far the best in depth interview of Omar that I have come across so far. Very good indeed. I have found out more about Omar in this interview than all of the others put together!

yes that’s why this is my favorite interview of his! it’s so nice to see him be comfortable enough to open up as much as he did here

    • @showmoke

@@beca303 - I think Omar opened up more than he has done in the past mainly because of the interviewing technique by the interviewer. Omar was a lot more relaxed here because the interviewer also revealed his own personal problems from the past, so the conversation was basically all on a level playing field. That's why this was so good and informative. It must have been truly awful for Omar in his younger school days when he was bullied and mocked for being of colour and also having his gender preferences questioned at the same time. School can be a very toxic place sometimes!
I also found it interesting the reasons why he and his family left their home country of Venezuela. Venezuela has been a failed country for quite some time now. They certainly made the right choice there it seems.

thanks so much for providing subs for this interview. i've only recently seen "young royals" and like everyone else, have become fascinated with edvin and omar and their lovable personalities both on and off-screen. omar is so incredibly talented and intelligent - speaking 3 languages, playing instruments, dancing, amazing singer. this interview provided so much more of an insight into how omar has developed into the incredible person he is today. sure, it's very personal; which is rarely seen these days from people who are in the spotlight. however, both the interviewer and omar should be proud of this interview. it shows the hard work and struggles he and his family have gone through to get him to where he has today. the answers are very touching and i think everyone can identify with at least some aspect of this interview. omar talks candidly about many important life lessons and he seems wise beyond his years. i think it goes to show how wonderful he has become and also how why his relationship with edvin as friends is extremely valuable. i did find interesting the discussion about the intimacy coordinator and the process which goes into those scenes. it's something i've always wondered about in tv shows / movies and it's great to hear of how comfortable they've been made to feel. when watching the series, i thought these scenes may have been what makes the bond between edvin and omar such great friends outside of the show. i'm sure it plays into a lot; but it was interesting to hear the detail and the respect for each others boundaries and consent which goes into those scenes. i hope everyone else who loves YR gets a chance to watch this interview and sees omar in an even more positive light than we do from some of the more formal press interviews. it's sad to know that season 3 will be the last, but hopefully we see more from both edvin and omar in the future. thanks once again for the great job with the subs and the timestamps to skip to particular topics.

Can’t thank you enough about this… It was the best interview that helped me hear a lot and in depth about him. it breaks my heart that he had gone through such hardships when he was younger …maybe that’s why he seems very cautious and a little bit insecure sometimes. I adore him all the more because in spite of all that, he’s become what he is now… how awesome! Thanks again!!

Well shit, now I'm sitting here watching the whole thing with subs. Didn't expect that but it was a real breath of fresh air to get a longer interview with Omar than those 2 minute Q&A stuff, here he really gets to tell stories. Very interesting.

The part where he talks about not having felt fully part of the group with the guys from the band just hit me so hard. I had a few years at school when people werent really nice to me. I then thought when someone wasnt super duper hyper friendly to me that they disliked me. I would then also Retreat, because i didnt want to go on someones nerves. It took me years to realize that people didnt dislike me, but just had a bad day or so.
I can now say that i have the best group of friends one can wish for. ❤

My heart breaks to hear about so many hardships he had to face and rejoice to see him overcome all of them and come out on top of it all. Thank you so much for all the work put into this interview, 1,5h have never passed so quickly for me before ;) And absolutely cannot wait to see all the fun projects Omar will continue to do, for now, impatiently waiting for his new album coming out soon ❤️

Thank you so much for posting and, above all, translating all that. I found YR around last Christmas and every time I am afraid I have found everything all around it, I find something new, like unpacking Christmas gifts for more than two months now. This one filled me in with so many details and also stuff I had been wondering about, and it's just wonderful to watch because the mood is so open and relaxed and so many important issues are discussed so thoroughly. So, thanks, again.

Such a beautiful, calm, and honest interview, thank you so much for adding such good enlish subtitles so I can watch from New Zealand!
I just cottoned on to young royals in the last few weeks and became a fan after watching heartstopper.. Ive never been a fan of anything like this before, and im realising its because of the sincerity, the queerness, the authenticity of emotions and written by women and queer authors who umderstand, and played by beautiful sensative people like Omar.. And im so impressed by this new wave of young men doing this consent training and representing this sincere, fun, sexy and aware, and queer side of life! Its so beautiful! It makes me so happy as an lgbt person to see this kind of integrity that these actors have, it shows in the effectiveness of their acting, the depth of their characters..
And particularly for Omar, hearing his story and reflections on his life is just so beautiful, and actually very relatable.. even though his circumstances are specific, I think many people have gone through similar journeys growing up, and I'm impressed seeing it openly discussed and kindly respected, because actually those tests of character are what makes a person strong and shine more, because they know that a good life is worth fighting for! And having fun with it! Thanks so much, beautiful interview questions and chat, and good luck to Omar from the other side of the world 😊🙏 Im sure he will go well in the next 10 years as well!! 💖🎉

This comment about what to do when feeling low after dwelling in it for a while... Like, get yourself all nice and hot looking and go out. I actually feel very stupid right now, because it's SUCH good and easy advice, and I, as a psychologically very educated person, have never tried it. In fact, I'd never even considered it. I almost never dress up, I don't even know what kind of clothes look good on me and how to do proper make up. But if I do, damn, it's a good feeling. It's such sound advice. I'll definitely try it next time.

You might find and/or consider Omar a bit vain, self centered or egoistical like myself until watching the interview. I assure it is going to change your mind and break down the prejudices. He is super cute, sincere and cool. From time to time it felt the vulnerability and awkwardness were still alive in his heart and mind, cos as a little kid what he went through at schools was horrific. Thank God that he has got a supportive and strong mom who had fought and has fought and will be fighting for her son's happiness
