The HD Cine mode alone makes this a must have for me.

Where's the video for the flash measurement menus?

Great video and considering getting this product. My only question is if I'm using a speedlight, how do I decide at what power to leave my speedlight, full? half? etc? What if I have multiple speedlights, how does metering the flash work then?

+Steven Sanchez Check out Joe Brady's UA-cam videos using these light meters. They're very detailed. Joe walks you through how to measure ambient light, single flash units, multiple flash unit setups with contribution from each flash, flash / ambient combinations, flash / strobe combinations, and more. You'll quickly learn that Joe is a bit fanatical / OCD / zealous about this subject. Just push through all that because he truly knows his stuff. I knew nothing about this when I started. Through Joe's videos, I've reached a high level of confidence in shooting manual mode (non-TTL) with multiple flash units and adjusting each flash unit's positioning and power setting to control each flash unit's contribution to my overall exposure.

Could you please do a video on getting a reading on aperture priority for motion picture and how to use an ND properly on film cameras, at for example 24fps.

@@SekonicGlobal Thank you! I just purchased a vintage one and it didn't take me long to understand it after watching a few videos on UA-cam. And a few only because every video was missing something that the other was filling in.
The light meter is so well built, that I would learn more using it, than a fast digital one where I would forget the settings, because it's doing everything so fast by itself, I don't even need to learn much. But on manual, it makes you so good, eventually you would just know how much aperture or shutter you need, based on the light.
Do you folks also make Spot meters?
And are both Light and Spot necessary, or is one more accurate than the other, technically?
      Sorry, so many questions.

Great to here. Spot metering measure the value of an object or the light being reflected from it, and the incident meter measure the light falling on the subject. So they both give you different information.

@@SekonicGlobal Thanks, yes i just wasn't sure if I should use both or one.

So what does the subscripted number next to the aperture, such as the "0" at 6:18, or how it changes to a 4 at 6:24 mean?

Hey Al, the top left icon should let you access the different modes to measure. If you do not see the option you can enable it from the meter's settings. Here's the link to the user guide. Start at page 25 and you should be able to sort it out that way. www.sekonic.com/downloads/l-478_operatingmanual_en.pdf

I recently got a L-478D and the data trasnfer software found a new firmware ( mine had 18 and updated it to 20) the weird part is that when you go to the sekonic website(s) to search for a changelog, the latest pdf there is from 2013 with version 17, even older than the meter itself came with, the 20 version is dated late 2015. Does anyone have a list of changes/updates for versions 18/19/20 ? Thanks !
