- Nothing can save the New Liturgy. If modern liturgists must prop up the New Mass by incentives and discourage any competition of the Classic Mass then it is not succeeding on its own. As another author put it: Had it been a company the New Mass would have been ditched long ago and the Classic Mass would have taken its rightful place; because it works and draws the youth to the priesthood and the religious life and fulfills the spiritual yearning which dwells in our souls. In other words, if you want to fill your pews, your seminaries and your religious houses with people then you will return to what worked: the Traditional Latin Mass. Unless, of course, the intended purpose is to destroy the Church as it was and bring into being a new church made in their image. It took Coca-Cola executives only 79 days to realize that they had made a mistake, and this was before there was any appreciable decline in their sales or market share. Why, oh why, has the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, after 50 plus years of declining numbers in almost every measurable category not begun to ask themselves whether the problem might just be with the product and not the consumer?

As a cradle catholic and now an Ordinariate of the chair of st peter, I am now in a parish that presents the old mass. We are on bended knee for communion and the priests give the offering of sacrifice to the high altar, not the people..The Latin mass is also an option daily. No novus ordo. Eucharistic Adoration is also offered three days a week in the second chapel. It is sad that the Anglicans converting to catholicism can see the importance of this, but the lifelong roman Catholics cannot.
You are so fortunate. The closest old rite mass is just to far away from me to go every Sunday or any Daily Mass. I try to make it every few months. I hope you appreciate how fortunate you are.
Observation, as I travel I always attend mass. I always search out a TLM however will attend NO if TLM is not available. When I attend NO the mass is almost always attended by older folks. Very few kids and virtually no small children. No matter what city I’m in and attend the TLM the mass is filled almost to capacity with young families and lots of children of all ages. I have thought to myself God is by way of the Holy Spirit drawing these young people to his mass. What we all need to remember is God doesn’t need our permission to change or in this case return his church. Soon all the older folks who served God in the NO will be passed on to the Lord. They have done nothing wrong by attending the only mass available to them. All sacraments were available to them. God doesn’t need to change things overnight as time is his. Last comment, all of these heads of church working to suppress the TLM (for whatever their reason) will pass on too. God uses time to take care of his business. God Bless all.
My heart breaks for those whose parish has been taken from them. When will the church see where the fruit is?!
They know where the real fruit is...and their fruit is rotten. They just won't admit it. They would have to make excuses for the past fifty + years. They'd have to admit Vatican II was a failure and their whole house of cards would fall down. Rather than being concerned about and with the salvation of souls. Pride can be the root of all evil. My husband and I, with a newborn and a toddler, sold our house, and we will likely not be able to own a home again with how the economy has become. We are moving across the country (over 24 hour drive away) to live in an old rental home, so that we can attend an ICKSP mass at a beautiful church. We just want our children to have the mass. We don’t have any plans for work, or know how else we will provide. But the Lord will provide, and our children will be properly catechized, and we will have the Mass. and nothing else really matters.

We want the Real Thing...the TLM. Our children will not know true refreshment.
My heart is heavy. This sermon was spot on, but what pierced my heart was the quote from the alter boys letter. Their words resonate as the true voice of our Faithful Youth. Yet would their Archbishop listen? Too busy with the farce known as "the synod on synodality" where preconceived heresies are being railroaded in a foolish attempt to change Faith & Morals. The gates of Hell will not prevail... but for now the TLM faithful must endure the chastisement. Our Pope and Bishops are abusive Fathers. Their young sons ask for a fish, and they receive a serpent. instead. Love them we must, but pray for their eternal souls. If the thirst for the TLM comes from God, they cannot destroy it. They may find themselves fighting against God. Imagine God's wrath for these faithless shepherd's- and pray they REPENT!

September 21, the feast day of Saint Matthew. The name of the cathedral in Washington DC. I assume that's why their bishop declared all TLM masses shut down on that particular day.

As a new convert to the Church, I am not very familiar with the traditional Latin mass. But I do feel an unexplainable attraction to the feelings I feel when I listen to the Latin ritual and the traditional beautiful music.
I do understand why the Church is trying to eliminate divisions within the church though. Many people seem to be feeling resentment or hostility toward the Church’s leadership and the Novus Ordo mass. This is not unique to the Church though, as this video illustrates, many people are hostile to any sort of change. So how much of the hostility is due to legitimate problems with the NO Mass vs just plain old human hostility to change in general? I don’t know.
But I do know that I go to Mass to worship God, not to worship the ritual. My local parish celebrates the NO Mass with reverence and sincerity, and I love it.
Better than nothing, but not much.

The sin of pride is driving the hierarchy into Protestant styled worship. Those of us who've held on have finally seen what earlier Catholics left for. This invalidation of the TLM was like opening floodgates. Pope Francis & the modernist bishops are in terrible error against our Holy Mother Church.

I grew up in the NO, and i have heard before about full Masses and many priests and other such, and then huge crowds of people who became “only Christmas and Easter Catholics.” I wondered why that was; and then i found the TLM. I doubt faithful goers of the Traditional Mass would have abandoned the faith so readily, but… still, even moderns hate the modern Mass

There's a reason for that apparent irrationality. Those who promote the Novus Ordo are not interested in - to go along with the analogy - having more clientele but in destroying the company itself.
There are so many specific problems with the current ordinary right. There is the use of the vernacular into which the liturgy has been translated with many an error. There is the extension of the ministry of the Church to laypeople which should be reserved to clerics. There are women serving at the altar which is a contravention of the symbolism of the mass. Protestant theology and hymns have crept into the mass changing the meaning of it (lex orandi, lex credendi). Priests often add in stories, lessons, jokes and commentary into the mass outside of the homily where it does not belong (though I can hardly say they belong in the homily either). Far too often the music is no longer sacred. It is also rare to find a few minutes of silence before mass so that one may meditate on the sacrament to be received, or after the mass for thanksgiving. I could go on.

The Bishops who ban the Latin Mass in their dioceses will not see flourishing numbers of vocations nor will they see an abundance of mass attendance. By their fruits you will know them. What does God allow to flourish and what does God allow to decay and die? What does this say about the fruits of the New Mass compared to the timeless fruits of the Mass of All Time?

@MsHburnett. It's funny you say that I happened to attend an SSPX mass in Florida where it's being held in the church basement forever. The SSPX bought the old Protestant church but the parishioners aren't donating enough for the renovations. Please don't make absolute statements like that. The SSPX has it's financial struggles just like any other traditional Latin mass orders and apostolates.
My hole life was born in the new mass the gift of Jesus don't leave us in that case the whole catholic faithful of my era are loss and dammm to hell because we have celebrated this mass and not the Latin one
We were all forced to hold our noses and pray like heretics. Pope Benedict told us we no longer had to. We weren't "damned". We were just ignorant and afraid to speak up.

If traditional Latin Mass suddenly became the norm and the novus ordo Mass was the one being suppressed,.. how much would overall Mass attendance drop in the country? Would it be 90% or closer to 100?
It's cute that everyone constantly claims that the new Young Generation has a yearning for the old mass. But, the reality is.... if you got your wish and the traditional Mass was the only mass.. Catholicism would instantly vanish.
The only difference between New Coke and the Novus Ordo missae ls that unlike New Coke the new mass isn't going to disappear. More than 90% of world Catholics attend the new rite. For most Catholics that's all they've ever known.
Ah, but the Holy Spirit is working miracles in the young people!
In the end, the Church and the anti-church will share the same ecclesial space.
I do believe they already are, if I'm not mistaken.
Maybe it is about time to stop listening to the lying Bergoglio-or-nothing voices, and read canon 332.2 and the declaratio of Feb. 11, 2013 in Latin. A Latinist like me was converted in 5 seconds when I did that in October 2018.
I have to say that I do not like this position at all. It feels me with a sickness in my heart. I hear pride rather than compassion. My preference is toward the Byzantine Liturgy now. I love the Latin mass, I also love the “New Mass.” because no matter, it is the SAME SACRIFICE OF CALVARY. The refusal to acknowledge that is a symptom of pride. Yes The New Mass often needs better pastors and many need correction, but it does not invalidate Christ’s Sacrifice that is offered and a lack of respect of that is just hurtful.
Truth hurts. If you love the Protestant liturgy so much, why are going to the Eastern Church? I think you realize that something is very wrong.
@@carolynkimberly4021 I participate at a Latin, Byzantine , and Novus Ordo parish each week. But to explain my preference I feel a bond due to my Slavic heritage. That and I can bring my autistic 5year old to Byzantine Liturgy and not get “escorted out” of the cry room, which has happened before at a TLM parish. Your comment sounds prideful and I pray it was not meant as such.
Yes, both the NO and the TLM are the re-presentations of Christ's one, holy sacrifice. Absolutely.
HOWEVER, which one is more effective at drawing souls to it?
THAT is the real question, and is answered by the crowds, or lack thereof.
As a new, young, Hollywood convert (who's playing St Padre Pio) said, he finds the NO akin to a fast-talking car dealer who's trying to sell you a used car! Check his interview on Bishop Barron's page/site.
I do believe he nailed it, for those of us who thirst for the TLM.
