    You're amazing. I have been doing research on eping and there just isn't very much info on it. Especially pumping right from birth. You have helped me more than you could possibly know. Thank you thank you thank you.

    Yes yes yes to your comment about a learning curve with every single baby. I just had #8 and there is always some figuring things out with each new addition. Every baby and circumstance is different. You have to learn each one.

    Great video! I wish I'd had your videos when my oldest was born. I'm so grateful that exclusive pumping has become much more talked about. I hadn't been planning on exclusive pumping from birth but my youngest daughter ended up going to the NICU right away. She was put on the cpap machine, and I was told that I wouldn't be able to attempt nursing until she came off of it, and even after she came off, I had to wait until she was stable and had adjusted to being off the machine. It's so important to start nursing or pumping right away, so about two hours after she was born, I had my nurse bring a pump into the recovery room. Because I had a c section, the epidural kept me from feeling pain and for the first 24-36 hours I felt like the pump wasn't doing anything so I would pump every two hours for 45min to an hour. It was the worst thing I could have done. I ended up with badly cracked and bleeding nipples. It's definitely important to pump every two hours, but for a short time like you said.

      Thank you for watching! It makes me feel so good seeing the word about EPing being spread. So many mommas need to know they aren't alone in this! I'm so sorry your breastfeeding journey had to start off by that. You're doing awesome though, I hope you both are doing well now!

    Thank you for your video! I love your channels because all the videos are very well prepared and genuine. I am in my 7th month of pregnancy and plan to exclusively pump when my daughter arrives. I have done rather thorough researches into what i should prepare (pump, bottle, parts, etc) but there is one thing that i cannot prepare is the size of my nipple when I start lactate. I have heard that the correct flange size will have major impacts on the amount that moms can pump. I wish to get like 4 sets of extra Spectra pump parts in advance, and a pumpin pals set as well, but the sets comes with each specific flange sizes. Do you have any advices on roughly estimate how much bigger the nipples would be after giving birth? Thank you very much!

      There’s not really a measure to how much different they’ll be but there’s a general consensus you may need larger sizes than you’ll typically use bc of postpartum swelling. I’m two sizes above my normal for about 1.5-2 weeks after delivery. One size above normal for another 3 weeks or so until I settle into my normal size. If possible, I would just wait and see what you are before ordering momma. Lots of Spectra parts are now on Amazon and with Prime they’d be to you in just a couple days!

    Did you power pump in the hospital? How many times did you pump? Thanks!

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 років тому +2

      Nope I didn't! I was nursing as well in the hospital so I didn't see the need to power pump. I was pumping after every nursing session but if you plan to exclusively pump from the beginning, you'll need to pump every 2-3 hours(:

    do u recommend using manual pumps while in the hospital?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 років тому

      They're aren't my first choice since they do require a little extra work but you definitely can! Whatever works for you momma(:

    when did you actually start using your stash? I'm trying to build a stash but not sure if I should be storing a lot now. my baby is 7 weeks old.

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 років тому

      I didn't start using it until I started weaning at around 10 months. At 7 weeks postpartum I would just put away whatever extra you happen to have and try not to stress about a stash right now(:

    Could you do a video on how much breastmilk the baby should be drinking and how often?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 років тому

      Since this varies from baby to baby I think it'd be best left to everyone's medical professionals(:

    What do you pump into while in the hospital? I was wondering how i would keep bottles/nipples clean/sterilized while in the hospital.
    Thanks

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  6 років тому +1

      My hospital supplied me with bottles and I was also nursing her so I didn’t need to worry about nipples. I would call the hospital you deliver in and ask what they’ll provide for you. Explain how you want to EP from birth so you’ll need bottles and nipples for baby. If they can’t supply them or guarantee it, I’d bring your own! It’ll depend if baby is preterm vs term when it comes to washing. I washed my stuff in my hospital room sink and hand dried it🙂

    is there a benefit to bringing your own pump?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 років тому

      There could be. If you've pumped before and know you empty and respond to your own pump, if you know the hospital may not have one or you would just prefer to use your own, I'd say it would be beneficial(:

    I'm 31 weeks and got 3 oz yest and 2 today to not have the nurses try to persuade me to use formula because im prone to preterm labor my bby most likely will be in the nicu for a little so I'm being prepared

    I've always breast fed and just found out my baby has a heart defect and wont be able to latch so I will be pumping from.birth and wont be able to start trying to latch until he's around 4 weeks.

    I never heard the tips for what to bring or how to start from birth other than asking for a pump right away. Thats my biggest confusion. I dont know what to do days 1-3.

    is it hard to go out while exclusively pumping? as to, how do u take the warm breast milk with u without it going bad?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 років тому

      It's challenging, especially at first, but after awhile it becomes second nature and isn't that bad! I normally pump right before I leave the house with a fresh bottle knowing that she'll eat it soon after leaving. I'll bring a cooler bag with ice packs for any milk I may pump out and about. I also bring empty bottles that she eats from in case she'll need more than one bottle while we're out. I go more over my routine in my "Traveling with Breastmilk Routine" video(:

    I went through so much during the first 2 weeks, I had a c-section 😭 at 35 weeks. I'm about to hit the 7 week postpartum. Is it to late to exclusively breastpump?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  5 років тому

      Heck no momma! You’ll want to approach it like you’re freshly postpartum if you aren’t nursing already. If you are nursing I have a video in this series on how to transition! The link should be in the drop box of this video💕
