I learned a long time ago, you buy a jacket and shoes that are nice. Buy them from good stores, tailored. After that? You can put Kmart or Goodwill with it and it'll look like a million bucks. You don't need a lot. You really don't. And nobody knows the difference.
Omg Karine! ❤️❤️❤️ the video! I tell you, growing up I always marveled at watching the Oscars or celebrity interviews. I look at what they wear and tell myself I would one day dress like that. In my teens and early 20s I had this thing were I always had to do I call "the JLO" or 90s vibez at the time. I would wear big pieces of gold jewelry like rings on almost every finger, bracelets with my hoops. As I got older I start realizing the difference between how wealthy people move, the everyday celebrity verses what we think is rich & wealthy. In everyday life some celebrities don't wear all that jewelry unless they are headed to a red carpet event. Every now and then if I get a 90s vibe I will only do hoops, 1 necklace, 1 ring, maybe 1 bracelet (such a 90s baby 🤣) but also know when to wear it. I start dressing to compliment my skin better. Needless to say I have dialed back on my jewelry wearing for clean & elegant. I learn the importance of financial discipline ✨️ 🤷🏾♀️ I never want to be the type of person that looks down on people because they have no degree or money. Or just throw my money at problems because i got it like that. Or have an arrogant rude attitude because I made it.
Thank God I learned early that these celebs aren't always rich like they claim. They have free clothes to put their fans on to the designers or to promote the designer clothes. Their net worth doesn't mean that is in their bank account. They also may have a lot of people they support and money goes as quickly as it comes. Just look polished, be clean, like Karrine said learn to put your clothes together. Keep your yourself up but don't try to keep up with the Jones. I bet they are behind closed doors in a lot of debt and so much more. Be grateful. Let's aim to be debt free, make some things in our life comfortable but don't wear ourselves out to get rich. Trust God, save and invest and stay in our own lane. And live out your purpose. Realize that true fulfillment comes from God and pursuing purpose and healing.
Yep, thousands per month for gas & electric. If the house have a nice size pool. Throw on a couple more racks to the bill. Every time the value of your house goes up, so do your property taxes. Your mortgage can increase as well due to the increase of property tax.
Oh yes... it's like a trade-off. For those that lived in working class or poor areas, they were content with living in a house in a high crime and/or poverty stricken area with a low mortgage or low rent apartment as long as they had a roof over their heads and can claim that they own a house or a their own place to live while using a lot of their paycheck towards luxury items in order to look good and enjoy that part of life as it's perceived to be "living the good life" when you have designer/luxury items contrary to your address. Whereas the middle-class and/or upper middle-class families figure it was best to sacrifice or aim to be in good or Posh neighborhoods with better school districts. Though they could still afford designer clothes or luxury clothes and items they invested more of their income in either their children, their retirement, investments, and their family vacations and weren't splurging on luxury items unnecessarily but only say on holiday, birthdays or anniversaries. They're trappings was the fact that they had a beautiful spacious home in a school district that their kids could compete with other children once they attended College. So it's more or less where people choose to have their priorities when you're talking everyday folks.

Thank you so much for making this video and being transparent about your experience. I know some of that stuff is not easy to share. I relate to this sooo much!! Shows like The OC, and celebs like Paris and Lindsey Lohan made me think I need to have money and look luxurious to be “popular”, liked and accepted. I definitely found myself trying so hard to looks rich when I was in middle school. I appreciate you bringing so much knowledge to this video and one big take away I got was, who are you trying to look rich for? Although, I do think it would be interesting to have a conversation about how dressing a certain way does get you treated differently. Like for example, when I was 18 and 20 I dressed like a hippy and didn’t care what I wore then, I kind of realized how different people treated me when I wore, honestly simple changes, like wearing khaki pants and button up. I do think there’s an element of needing to look rich to get through our society but you’re right we also need to be honest about how much we’re losing monetarily for that “respect”.
Lol...YES. I remember when at 17, my immigrant parents moved us from our childhood home and neighborhood in the inner-city "hood" which at that time the neighborhood had changed for the worse, to a big house like over 3000 sq. ft. house in a posh suburban neighborhood. It was as if the new neighborhood suddenly matched our middle-class upbringing. My father was very candid about the cost of living in that house and neighborhood compared to where we'd left and the difference was BIG. So fast forward many years later when I'm in my 40's with my own family, my husband and I decided to start seeking a family home for the second time about little over 5 years ago. In my mind I was thinking of course "bigger and better" like 3000 sq. ft.minimum. Our first house was 1750 sq. ft. The funny thing is by the time we did in fact look at the "bigger and better" house which was over 3,000 ft I suddenly started to remember all the cost that my father was so candid about when it came to maintaining that type of property. Suddenly I went from overjoyed looking at a house that size to overwhelmed. As the realtor was showing us room after room all I kept thinking was, "Wow who is going to clean up this huge house?" "Who and how are we going to keep up with these utility expenses?" "I wonder how much it'll cost to do repairs on this house." I tell you one thing, it's definitely a lot different when you're under your parents' roof compared to when it's YOU who's going to pick up the tab. I then realized I would rather live in a "big enough" house versus a huge house. So now we went from a house that was about 1750 sq. ft to a 2400 sq. ft. house versus about 3,200 sq. ft. and I am perfectly fine with the 2400 sq.ft. house which even with this square footage, it can be a bit overwhelming to maintain but manageable. As much as it's fun to look at (and live) in huge houses and mansions, I can't even imagine pumping all of that money into a single house...not to mention paying the property taxes for those types of homes depending on the area a person lives in. But hey...more power to those that do and can manage.
My opinion, I think that some people that like highend clothing or items are misunderstood, my personal experience ; not about wanting to “fake to be rich or look rich,” some people like the highend clothes because of the quality, longevity and exclusivity. If I buy something expensive not too show off, it’s because that’s what i prefer and like. Not about showing off, there are some people like that, but there are a lot of us who are opposite. When I wear designers items, I’m not trying to look or act like I’m richer, I just like the items. I’ll wear forever 21 or Walmart as long as it’s cute. If I was rich, I’d still be the same person.
I agree. As I got older I realized it’s better to pay for quality versus buying cheap stuff and having to keep repurchasing same item because the color faded or the material shrunk or snagged
I’ve always made less than my friends and companions but ALWAYS had more cash on hand and in bank (for the most part) because I don’t need to flex. I AM the flex, so I never live beyond my means, (especially since my means isn’t much). The image I’m selling is, phck you! 🤣🤣 I don’t need your approval.
It’s not about how much you make or your net worth it’s about how much you have. You can make 10 mil a year and have nothing, you could be making 60k or less a year and have everything.

Forget celebs but why should anyone dim their light to make low vibration individuals feel better about themselves. You are speaking from a place of low vibration. You are using words such as fear of it being taken away, that's all low vibration. If you think by making it known that you are wealthy, you will attract persons to rob you, that's exactly what's going to happen. I see wealthy people as a form of inspiration for me to reach that place of financial freedom. I love when Wealthy people show their accomplishments, it motivates me because my vibration is high and not low. Only if you see it from a place of jealousy or envy, it will come off as showing off or flexing to you.

Exactly!! Thank you for the tip. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Oh and yes these companies get sued.
Karine this is so interesting!! Yeah it all gets real when you see the receipts haha
Pride cometh before the fall 👀
I’ve always made less than my friends and companions but ALWAYS had more cash on hand and in bank (for the most part) because I don’t need to flex. I AM the flex, so I never live beyond my means, (especially since my means isn’t much).
The image I’m selling is, phck you! 🤣🤣 I don’t need your approval.
It’s not about how much you make or your net worth it’s about how much you have. You can make 10 mil a year and have nothing, you could be making 60k or less a year and have everything.
You be right !! This Is why I wanna study finance … I’m doing the same thing no flexing I learn it by reading books …. I did a lot of mistake now I’m repairing ( got two job and uni so …. )
Am really loving your content

Indeed ... per Tyra Banks, "Don't dull your shine for anyone !"
Just started the video, so maybe it’ll explain itself later, but how Julius only making $500.00 more than the chef?? 🤔 He works way harder and longer (maybe more so in earlier years?) than a chef!? 🧐
