The Sprint to fire in this game is slow to "very slow" depending of what attachments do you put in your guns. Akimbo pistols are super clunky for example.

@@matthewrosado1936 No matter the attachment rapid fire only loses you one effective yard of distance (even then that's only rounding up). less than three feet isn't going to make nor break your TTK. Since the gun is so sluggish it's practically a must if you even want to attempt anything better than a OHK or take one more than one opponent at a time. Now I do agree that the shotgun should be buffed. Mainly on the handling/mobility which really sucks right now (considering shotguns are in the primary slot again). Also that the two shot kill should be extended and the spread drastically reduced to help improve consistency at range. (I hate when shotguns become glorified melee weapons when they are not). But rapid fire is far from useless. Your numbers are off about the loss of range, it's nowhere near that significant.
I find that abusing the 4-pellet damage cap is the way to success. You don't need maximum accuracy since your damage is capped by 4 pellets anyways. With how slow ADS is, I found myself dying a lot in close to medium range engagements where a hipfire would have been much faster. This is combined with how clunky ADS can feel with the omni movement. So I run basically this whole class but with the full choke rather than the modified choke. ADS is still plenty tight with the tac laser but you're more free to hipfire a slide around for example, utilizing the huge slide to fire boost of the combat stock. Going all out on ADS spread with a gun that has a 300+ ms ADS time just has me struggling. Maybe the quickdraw grip is more useful? Since (if I recall directly) sprint to fire just gets added to the ADS time, so cutting one of the two down the biggest amount is your goal if you're going for an ADS build. That's just my playstyole though, but that can also be because I primarily play faceoff and nuketown, which are a lot more high action and require constant uptime, so I can't pace my shots as easily and utilize the max range. Worth keeping in mind.

What I do think is needed is a rate of fire buff as well. Enough so that you can handle close quarters a bit better when there’s several enemies. The smgs drop you very quick at these ranges and then have the big mags to keep the fire going while we have this slow rate of fire. The faster rof would help a bit with the 2 hit kills as well. Buff sprint to fire and rate of fire and you have a really solid gun.
I believe Treyarch should adjust the attachments for the Marine. Increase the handling benefits of the stocks, slightly increase the range for the two barrels, and slightly increase the pellet tightness of the two chokes.
Considering the devs plan on adding new attachments I think a new super short barrel would be insanely fun. Can only chamber 2 shells in the barrel but the handling stats and movement speed is insane.
Marine SP is super fun, just a bit clunky. Definitely needs rapid fire to make it more viable for objective game modes especially. Love a Ghost/Dexterity/Assassin/Double Time speed build with the Suppressor on. I too, tend to be a "shotgun quickscoper" 😅
Personally the Combat barrel is my go to. I feel that quick reloading paired with the sprint to fire speed increase outweighs the +1 meter range. For the muzzle I use the suppressor just for fun but it works

Hey Goomie, they slightly shadow nerfed Rapid Fire so it now has about a 5% damage range penalty. I think the rate of fire gain outweighs this but just wanted to let you know.

If slugs don't get a massive buff for WZ im going to be very disappointed. Hopefully they do a complete rework but 90% sure they are just going to copy and past the damage profile of a different shotgun and not account for the slower firerate.
I may be way off base but man... all these guns suck and the attachments are mostly useless. Unless the Warzone integration comes with blatant nerfs to the already existing WZ guns I just don't see any of these guns making it to the meta.
I really really hate the attachments in this game. Like the fact that we can’t make a super slow long range gun. Or a max speed class or a max strafe class. Or a max hip fire class. This game gets boring so fast.
Just a note about rapid fire, there is a small range penalty on it.

I noticed that the tac laser can be turned off, (at least in your POV) by pulling out your melee and changing back to your gun using the tac stance

Also ranger foregrip is glitched on the marine, everytime I try to equip it, it puts on precision foregrip, changed the class, still glitched
