Saw Roland Kirk many times in the Manchester area and still find what he did just unbelieveable. Wish he was around now to amaze us once again.

Saw a clip on PBS just last night. I'm 54, and not too much impresses me, but WOW! How is it that I never heard of or saw this amazing musician? I doubt highly anyone else could pull this off. I'm not hugely into jazz, but kids in school should be shown these things. What an inspiration. There really aren't adequate words or superlatives.Wish I hadn't barely passed German in high school.

no limits. i just saw his documentary "the case of the three sided dream". even after his stroke, which left him limited, he just got back to it without feeling sorry or giving up. SO inspiring. i will never feel sorry for myself again.

This was before he'd mastered the art of circular breathing....throwback foreal...

Jere, that is a fair comment, however as a 'Blind' musician he has nothing to show but talent on a genius scale.

Roland was definitely unearthly. There should be an ancient aliens episode just on him. :))

well, a genius he might be; but i'm pretty sure he had to try it more then once before he could really master it! :-]

in my opinion roland kirk is not from this earth or even not from this solar system, this guy must have had some extraterrestrial lungs. but seriously he is one of the best and most innovative jazzers
