Not sure what is your intention, Akshat. This has always been the case. At least a higher % of our tax money is going for actual development. Else 75-90 would go into the pockets of politicians and such. The tax base is also increasing rapidly. And most of all India is rapidly building up. Can that happen without money?

@@nerisalobo Nah , indirect tax doesn't affect that much as compared to direct tax that is levied on the corporate job earnings . People who are working in corporate jobs come under middle class ( generally )
Most of the people who are poor , are generally the labor class , so no direct tax is levied on their income , because income is already very low , but that depicts that they don't pay much tax , except indirect tax .
But they are able to make the full use of government scheme , rather than the middle class guy , who often are not eligible for the scheme . In case of schooling , yes , people of middle class can also opt for that , but the quality of education is just poor , who which middle class guy would want to send their child to such a school ?

@@MrAnujtherockstar 1- Delhi government schools are not world class. They're the same as anywhere else in India. Except for a few "model schools", Delhi's government education is abysmal, with a high number of three-teacher schools (whole school is taught by three teachers only. I know this because I have been involved in educating underpriviledged children throughout India since the last 5 years). The best model I have seen till date is actually in MP, astonishing growth rate in the quality of education.
2- Middle class doesn't vote on class grounds. Indian middle class is actually small. The figures that we get about the middle class are wrong. The largest influence over electoral mandate lies with the lower class, which you don't even acknowledge. The tribal and BPL population are the ones that change the election results. And yes, they are not really educated. Even in Kerala's 98% literacy model, most of those 98% people could only read and write their name in Malayalam. Except that, they couldn't read anything else, even in Malayalam. A major part of the so-called literate people are of this category, the ones that can only read and write their name in any language. Here, Odisha and MP do well as they only consider a person literate when he/she has passed matriculation. Apart from this, Manipur and Meghalaya also do quite well with their literacy rate, although their test for literacy is to see how many people can fill up forms.
Most of the lower class are intentionally kept uneducated, so that they can be brainwashed. It is a real thing. Every political party does this. They give them freebies, so that they don't have to get educated. One of my standout memories is a meeting with Manish Sisodia, in which I asked him what KPIs and metrics does he use to monitor efficiency in his schools. He said "wosab kuch nahi hota, kabhi kabhi hum surprise check karte hain, usime log chokanne ho jaate hain ki sahab kabhi bhi aa sakte hain." When our politicians have this attitude, what can we expect from the country?
Just for reference, we collected a database of the marks scored in the last exam in 10 schools in Delhi. The average percentage was 41%.

Drinking clean water from any tap, is huge for me. The air quality is super awesome. All these things are great for all the taxes I pay, so it is hard to think of going back.
I think the biggest BS is, "don't ask what the country does for you, ask what you can do for your country". I am already working all day to take care of my family and paying taxes. But exams are conducted annually and no mid term exams. i.e; in March or April along with CBSE exams and you can select your own subjects. There is no such binding that we see in schools that certain fixed subject needs to be selected. For instance I didn't took Maths in 10th and took Home Science instead. So I completed 10th without Maths.
For some subjects like computer, home science or art, practical exams are conducted so we have visit the exam centre where practical exams are happening. And practical plays important role.
After my 10th from NIOS is switched back to GSEB (Gujarat State Board) as my parents preferred sending me to school. But some of my friends completed their 12th from NIOS.
Fees (during my term) was 1200 which includes exam fees and study material. Maybe now it's increased.
Only negative side about this course is social life,
As both my parents are working so, no one was there to take care and for interaction.
And in some cases tuition. Not everyone provide tutoring for NIOS but now there are some UA-cam channels and apps like Byjus to take care of that. But during my term there weren't any.

A lot of valid points have been mentioned in the video.
But there are some things to take note of as well.
Consider two families, A and B. A has 8 members, including one earning member who is working in a small firm. On the other hand, B has 4 members including three earning members, each working in an MNC. Now, its a no-brainer that the quality of life of individual members of family B (kind of the returns they get to the financial contribution to the household) will be better. Family B would be able to live in a better and larger house, would be able to eat in restaurants more often and would be able to go on vacations in foreign countries. Such activities are very rare or nearly impossible for Family A.
The comparison of India and Sweden is akin to comparing the lifestyles of A and B. Sweden has a population comparable to some Indian cities, which is not mired in abject poverty today. Sweden doesn't need to build highways or toilets or schools or provide piped water to a massive population. Sweden has a large middle-aged population, who earn well and contribute immensely in taxes. As a result, they get better returns.
On the other hand, India has few people who are earning well enough to be taxed, and a massive population which needs to be supported from it. Obviously, people working on daily-wage or in low wage industries cannot be taxed. Unlike Sweden, India also has a large informal sector, which poses further challenges. How would one calculate the exact taxes to be levied on a person selling pani-puries or tea, since their income fluctuates daily? It is also difficult to administer taxes for agriculture incomes, because it fluctuates on yearly produce. A farmer growing tomatoes may experience bumper crop in one year and crop failure in another, if he shifts to growing onions his income would be entirely different. How would one calculate the taxes the farmer needs to pay?
The only way of increasing tax benefits would be to increase the tax base and reduce taxes in the long run, which can be done by:
    1) Shifting of people from agriculture to service and manufacturing sectors - which is ongoing.
    2) Increasing formalization of the economy - this is ongoing and has picked up pace since the Covid-19 pandemic.
    3) Increasing incomes and the population of middle class - which is happening slowly due to a consistently growing economy.
    4) Reducing population growth - our population has started to stabilize.
Looking at the trends, in the long run taxpayers would definitely get better returns for the taxes they pay. Rather than the returns today, we taxpayers should be patient, ensuring that these trends continue, and also ensure that politicians do not recklessly spend tax revenue on useless freebies.

@@SanAntonioDean I have lived in London for a few years, and the impact of Brexit hit them pretty hard, pushing it further down. London roads are way dirtier than roads in major cities of India. London has outdated infrastructure; water, piping, toilets, elevators, and walls break frequently. Almost every house is infested with rats in London; people don't clean after their dogs and urinate (humans and dogs) right in front of the houses, even in ultra-wealthy neighborhoods like Kensington. The cost of living in London and taxes are much higher for corporate employees, and they have high VAT. Apartments are very, very tiny. National health services are underfunded; they don't even have paper gowns for their patients and discharge patients on the same day of surgery to recover at home. London's underground system and its trains are ancient as well. In the summer, people suffocate in those tunnels without air conditioners or fresh air. Can you comment on specific reasons that made you think London is better than Banglore or other major cities of India? And which part of London do you live in?

    1. Despite earning over 30 lacs per annum, middle-class individuals in metro cities struggle with the rising cost of living.
    2. Limited access to affordable housing hinders middle-class individuals from purchasing their own homes, even with a higher income.
    3. Higher tax burdens impact the disposable income of those earning above 30 lacs per annum in the middle class.
    4. Challenging loan requirements make it difficult for middle-class individuals to finance significant expenses like buying a car or pursuing higher education.

      Medical facilities:
      - Yes, it is free. But 80% of the day-to-day medical incidents are left to heal naturally. Its normal for someone in Sweden to be sick for a week and still don't visit any doctor/hospital. No medicine if it is not a life-threatening issue.
Pension (one topic which was not covered in the video)
      - Average retirement age is 68 (gets revised often)

Okay as a CA guy, I believed GST was a good move, considering the past VAT Sevice tax regimes the whole scenario was a mess. No one can blame any central govt specifically per say. Cause all the state governments were taking their share out of the Indirect taxes. GST atleast has put a leash from misuse of funds like it used to be with a unified department more control & transperancy over the funds. You cant expect decades of misuse of funds to be corrected straight away in a decade. Mistrust between the govt and people, people evading direct taxes, government was forced into indirect tax regime for revenue, freebies from govt is still a dark area which political parties win, but who bears the brunt? and also before blaming government we have to see all this corruption in part is from the government employees themselves, who are part of the society itself!! Its easy to blame politicians as different from us, but they grew out of this society we live in. I believe we all bear some responsibility for the mess we are in now!

This country existed way before them and will exist way beyond them. The citizen's loyalty and affection should be for the country and not for it's government necessarily.
Where you can criticise the people is the unwillingness to keep the crony politicians accountable. They behave like they're rulers of the people rather than their representatives and it's because people let them. The day this culture changes the political class will fall in line. But unfortunately in the case of India this might be wishful thinking and is unlikely to happen in our lifetime.

The problem is how can we get united, what can we do so that govt has to listen to tax paying citizens. Govt currently treats us like heard they literally got us by the balls. We are so involved in our busy lives that we dont get time to protests about these things. We have just accepted this reality. We need more awareness. We need to create a Rage against taxation. Its because of us the govt is, we all should remind them that. Othewise they will keep looting us.

It's nuts!! to even accept the fact that we have to pay 20% TCS if we travel abroad from our own taxed money! I pay Income tax, get salary TDS deduction, then indirect taxes that too upto 28%. And now hold the 20% TCS.(I know it can be claimed in ITR) but absolutely blocks our cash flows. What are they even thinking??

With recent changes how vocal people are getting on social media about these taxes, I'm very optimist that one day someone will definitely help us and we can stop pressuring a small group ending up paying taxes and gets nothing in return. Time to revolt against this tax terrorism prevailing at present in India. Let's unite and let government hear our plight.
