A night I'll not forget! Enjoyed your reaction! I see you have "Superman" up now! One of my faves. If you haven't listened to the album "Stoney End", you must, at least to understand its significance in her musical career. It was released 1971 and was a watershed album for her. She left the 60s Barbra behind and started the pop-rock-disco detour she took until the mid to late 80s. That album and single took her back to the top of the charts where she'd stay throughout the 70s. She also changed up her movie career and released "The Owl and The Pussycat", her first non-singing role. It's comedy where she plays a foul-mouthed, pot-smoking hooker that carries her TV everywhere. (It even had a topless scene...a big deal in 1971. She had it cut in a panic before release afraid her mother would see it.). A portion of her fans at the time abandoned her because of these changes, but she gained an even larger set of new fans and ensured her continued success when the culture was quickly changing, and changing a lot.

@@coldfire7141 Only as mention for your personal listening, not necessarily for reactions, but if/when you start checking out more of her albums...After Stoney End, her leap into pop-rock, she took it even further on her next album, Barbra Joan Streisand.
Her fans from the 60s felt abandoned and I think she wanted to offer them something, but continue to move forward. So it's a very interesting mix of rock tunes like "Beautiful", "Where You Lead", "Space Captain" and "I Mean To Shine", interspersed with "The Summer Knows", "I Never Meant To Hurt You" and "Since I Fell For You". She even covers a couple of John Lennon tunes, "Love" and "Mother".
"Mother" was really criticized then, but now people talk about how good it was. I think maybe there were some change of hearts for Barbra's connection to the song as the sad relationship she had with her mother became more public many years down the road .
In general she was so brave and experimental in her 70s albums and no two of them are the same. She even released a classical album that decade, singing works of European composers in German, Italian, Latin, French and Occitan!
Anywho, hope you continue to feel better! 😊❤
