Wow you're the first person I've seen give a good explanation/ review on The Rehearsal so far. Loved the fact you also gave the viewers a little background info about his previous show Nathan For You. Hope you do another video covering the rest of the show, cause each episode just gets more insane than the last and I love it!
Nathan raises my blood pressure, because he lives so close to the edge, and gives me actual balls to do and say the truth in calm words. Love this bland fellow!
this show destroyed and rebuilt me as it went on to make the rabbit hole of making sense out of all the anxiety flowing through a person, while going thorough life ,just as it forces Nathen to feel something out of all of the nonsense that EVEN the simulated life throughs at him, it forces us to try to face the real rabbit hole in our real life and maybe try again to have a feeling about it, but what would that feeling be ? will it even be pleasant ? I think that was the most brilliant moment that episode 5 made for me. and I totally appreciate you attention to detail about episode 1 and the true nature of Nathen's actual marriage, I think this is the most honest, fake show ever.
Your framing in this essay is great, especially how you predicted the way this show plays with serialization and breaking the fourth wall. The show does an interesting magic trick within its first few episodes. For the first 1-2 episodes, it reads as a soft reboot of Nathan for You with a fresher premise. But the further it goes on, I suspect it's Finding Frances that was actually the backdoor pilot for this show.
I once has a dream that I was hanging out with Nathan Fielder and that we ended up having this really emotional moment with him and we were both on the verge of tears because he was an alcoholic and wanted to kill himself because he found no meaning in life. I told him “What does have meaning, is this” and I gave him a hug to embrace him and made sure to give him a reason not to kill himself. Then, after that moment along with all the other moments I later forgot, all turned out to be staged, every move I did was pre written and pre done based on my behaviors both in speaking and in text messages of mine. It was so mind blowing to me how that would even be possible. It also hurt my feelings a bit that all of that emotion put in was all choreographed, every word I had said, including the hug, was all preordained, it was so bizarre and my mom and sister already knew about it and everything.
I was surprised when i un-fullscreened and saw how few views this had and how little subscribers you had, this is a great video and you definitely deserve more of both.
I just watched it. That was one of the most interesting things I’ve ever seen. It definitely gave me a weird anxiety at times but overall pretty brilliant.
He is doing gods work on HBO, there is so much happening you have to watch it at least a couple times to see the references and all the complex ideas about reality/life
I think I've just confused myself- What if Nathan the Real Person wants to have a go at pretend parenting so he pitched the idea of this show so that he can simulate an undesirable parenting situation as Nathan the Character and thus decide if he is ready for the worst case scenario in parenting while working creatively
ive got a billion comments on this series. Its such a good piece to analyze because any take can be true. I think this time the viewer is the one getting 'pranked'.
I really liked episode 3 and 4 with him rehearsing having the same feelings as the actor, but just doesn't understand. Then, after missing 8 years of the kids life, he just does a do over. He literally says something to the effect of "if life doesn't turn out the way you want, just change your perception". Then it shows the teen go in the slide and 6 yo come out. I'm so confused by ep 5, and so curious where this is going to end up!
How likely is it... The entire show has been rehearsed and they're all actors? I know that's like impossible but.... I don't know, Nathan can't leave anything up to chance.
Not to get to conspiratorial, but honestly I have felt like a big reveal could be something like that. Or at some point Angela leaves the show l, but Nathan remains a parent.
I really hate how everyone uses the "ice cream poo" episode to explain Nathan for You. It was obviously an ask from the producers to make the show fit Comedy Central more, like how The Orville started out.
Yeah. It is the first bit so it’s what came to mind. Early episodes have a bit of weirdness to them. The caricature artist thing and the bit with Jon H Benjamin where he is doing job interviews is a little too much Comedy Central edge where I think the show became more pointed with what it was poking fun at.
@@meggwalter mines the "smoking allowed" episode, if only for the scene where he makes the actress say "I love you" to him for a not chill ammount of time
My prediction is that the rehearsal season one will be revealed to all be a rehearsal for season 2 where every thing happens again with different people
Yeah, I feel like some of the editing of the show maybe didn't allow a full insight to her as a person. I have sympathy for her, but for me she is isn't very likable. Kor was my favorite Rehearsal client.
My jaw dropped multiple times during each episode. I’m excited to see where it goes. Nathan is truly a genius
Every episode is a new Finding Frances. It’s incredible.
agreed

This show was so amazing. I'm just a little POed that it was only 6 episodes and there was zero closure to Nathan's parenting rehearsal.
TV is trying to fuck people over by giving them less episodes. I think it’s a conspiracy.
Nathan raises my blood pressure, because he lives so close to the edge, and gives me actual balls to do and say the truth in calm words. Love this bland fellow!
I don't know how some of these comedians do it. Such ice cold performances while still coming off as genuinely hilarious.

I did not notice that Natan's confession in the end of the first episode was to the doppelgänger... I discovered that here 😛
Me too, I laughed hysterically because I thought the real guy said that to him

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Yeah, it really does feel intentional like its meant to blind side the viewer who expects a very different format.
That last episode when his fake wife told him he will never feel anything no matter how hard he tries was so profound, thats exactly how i feel...

Wow thank you! That really means a lot to me! I'm pretty thirlled about this videos reception.
After watching episode 3, I'm really interested to see how Nathan balances his "work" and "home" life moving forward.
I know. It seems like both were kind of hard to balance.
I just watched it. That was one of the most interesting things I’ve ever seen. It definitely gave me a weird anxiety at times but overall pretty brilliant.

All according to plan!
he's rehearsing for parenthood! 😱
Oh so you watched the last episode
Glad to see this in my suggested and join as a follower!

I'm really digging this show
My jaw was dropped during the gold digger segment of the 3rd episode.
Nottle! Great job with the video style keep up the good content.
Nice the background with evangelion music
Amazing video, what a treat this show is.

I love this video! I can't wait to see you review episode 4!
Thanks! I plan to do something with episodes 3 and 4, or just a wrap up once the season is over.
@@nottle9779 Sounds great! I look forward to it :)

I know that's like impossible but.... I don't know, Nathan can't leave anything up to chance.
I expect some sort of twist in the last episode. The show is already entirely unfocused on helping other people.
What if he's really rehearsing to be married again and Angela is an actress purposely playing an unbearable woman to create his worst case scenario?
Not to get to conspiratorial, but honestly I have felt like a big reveal could be something like that. Or at some point Angela leaves the show l, but Nathan remains a parent.
Also, wondering what methods Nathan will employ in order to enhance the reality and emotional investment of his own rehearsal?

whenever i show nfy to my friends, i make them watch the one where he helps the antique store owner by luring drunks in.

It’s such a feel bad way to make money. I love the shot of the pizza at the end of the narrow antique hallway.
My prediction is that the rehearsal season one will be revealed to all be a rehearsal for season 2 where every thing happens again with different people
Very good video, hoping to get a Final Toughts Video Of Season Finale :)
great video! I love the show so much. subscribed!! youre really good at commentary/video essay videos and I'm excited to see what you cover next
Aww thank you! That's so nice of you to say.
What in the fuck, i literally finished watching nathan for you yesterday.
nice u use my favourite evangelion song
What can I say. It’s good for a rehearsal.
I got tired of Angela way too quickly. No time for people like that.

dope
It's an interesting idea but seems more depressing than funny. I don't feel much of an itch to watch the show like I did Nathan For You.
