They didn't remove the original trapezoidal fret markers on the Les Paul. They just cut into them and added the tree of life inlay parts into them along with the rest of the fretboard.

Gotta dig the hilarious names and decals. They’re all custom made so they might be good, & honestly with that sense of humor, this guy either is a pro at making pedals or drinks bong water for breakfast..

That Ibanez Iron Label is sad. I have the 7 string version of that very guitar and I love it. Hard to believe somebody had it just to smash the fool out of it.

It's one of those things where iykyk, and if not, you're like 🤔 But usually, for ibanez, the first few characters are the important ones. It'll be body style like RG, S, etc, and then a number indicating series, with the higher this number being the better quality. After that the rest are pickup and pickguard configurations, and then it will often end in a 1 for fixed bridge or 0 for floating. Though I can't deny it got crazy in the 2010's with model names like the one in question 😅

Ha! I know Ken and his shop, Zion Guitars in Greensboro - I've saw that guitar when I was in high school. I did have a modified Ibanez Destroyer custom painted by Wayne - traded a pre-CBS Strat for it in the 80's. Ken does make an amazing guitar for what it's worth.

The ugly blue winged guitar, was painted by Wayne Jarrett ( Greensboro, NC ). He has been painting for years. He does hot rods, custom motorcycles, guitars, pinstriping and more! He painted all the guitars for Jeff Cook ( guitar and fiddle player ) of the group Alabama. He painted many guitars for him. Wayne even painted a bass boat for him. Wayne has painted for many famous people and companies. He has painted guitars and prizes for Nascar along the way also. Wayne's son Tony now paints all the great hockey goalie masks you see on TV. He is a fantastic artist also.

As someone who loves odd ball guitars I actually like the Zion Ken Hoover guitar but after reading the description it sounds like there are a lot of issues.
I haven’t even watched the episode yet- I just HOPE somebody sent him the DB Cooper Les Paul that showed up on Reverb the other day for $1200

To be fair, Hoover and Jarrett were somewhat well-known in the day, especially Jarrett who did some paint work for Prince. Having said that, however, yikes -- that is not an attractive guitar.

That Zion guitar was quite silly. Zion Guitars was Christian owned company and endorsed numerous Christian metal musicians. Probably supposed to look Angelic.

A tree of life inlay can be beautiful, but it needs to fit the guitar. A tobacco burst Les Paul is about as classic and old school as it gets and an inlay like that just looks gawdy and out of place on it. Also, this particular inlay is to busy and lacks definition and legibility.

no it DIDN'T! good grief Ed wasn't the first to use a humbucker or even a single humbucker guitar FFS, the japanese had MANY single humbucker offerings when Ed was still filling his diaper ffs, japan also had a 4+2 headstock before Ed, japan had a wheel heel adjuster in the early 60's... and gibby wasn't the first to make a humbucker, its from the 40's FFS! hendrix used a humbucker, page, blackmore, on and on, before ed even touched a guitar you leg humpers are unreal
I like the weird model names Ibanez gives all their superstrats. It's like a secret code to be cracked and all that it reveals is a couple specs.
