- Sometimes we need to settle on second best, but we often we can do this and still maintain as accurate as possible interpretation of historical sources.
In this video we talk about how to compromise in building your impression when you are not able to build or buy the most accurate items.

Our channel is intended to discuss the skills needed to reenact, demonstrate and teach. We also discuss the historic context and research behind our findings.
Popula Urbanum is latin for people of the city. We are recreating the burgeoning middle classes in the 14th century.

I was too slow to say thank you for this great video in the chat, so here it is.
Thank you, we're glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for the video, can't wait to see how the helmet turns out.
you won't have to wait too long
As Jimmy from the Welsh Viking said before if we are trying to recreate an impression from one gravesite dig. You'd be left wearing a cap and shoes. You have to go to nearby archeology and other sources to pattern your tunic, trousers, hose, etc.
The thought of someone in the distant future trying to reenact an early 21st C medieval reenactor - what would that look like??
Probably very confused and dressing in high fashion because that is what is primarily depicted in mass media
@@PopulaUrbanum haha yup, always the reenactors with the shineys get the air time or newspaper spots
@@YlvaTheRed this is the way
Amazing vidéo!
Thank you
Thank you for this video! I’m going through this right now, I reenact the late viking age, so there are some things that are mysteriously lacking such as pants! Haha
Pants are such a challenge for early medieval, I feel you there!
@@YlvaTheRed and I’m a short guy so I can’t just go with the baggy pants they every reenactor loves
@@kahn04 oof, don't get us started on the baggy trousers! 😆 I feel your frustration!
@@YlvaTheRed I’m in the process modifying my leg wraps to hide the surger stitch edge
@@kahn04 awesome stuff!
