I actually have one of those 2-10-0s (dcc ready version) that I customized with my model railroad’s letters, and I’ve been working on getting a TCS WOWsound into it. I’m considering getting a second decapod in the near future and lettering it as BL&G #8.

Larry, I'm studying all your videos. On your steam loco installs I see Digitrax, WOWSteam and Tsunami. What are the pros and cons? I love the idea of using the Decoder Buddy Mini, but I guess only WOWSteam plugs in to that? I will install in a DC only Bachmann Spectrum Consolidation. Does that determine which to use? I'm a newbie to DCC installs, thank you for these excellent videos.

All three of the decoder brands mentioned have 21 pin decoders. You can find them on each brands website. I lean more to the wow sound decoders for steam. Yes, I have used other brands, but still fall back to TCS. I think they have the best sound quality. Digitrax is the cheapest, they don't have the best sound quality but they do have a great warranty. Soundtraxx is very good, the sound quality is great and they have a good warranty. It really all comes back to what the customer wants.

@@SoloContracting OK, thanks for that. I saw last night on searching that TCS has a board purpose built for the Consolidation, it is like the Decoder Buddy but also has the stay alive built in. I think I'll go that route and give it a try. Thank you for that info on the different brands.
